Billy McCormick what are you talking about this was a school team. Even for a school team for that many people able to get professional contracts it’s still phenomenal.
Wow....this video shows that this kid has great attacking talent from set and broken play.....it will be very interesting to see how he develops as he grows up over the next 3-4 years and puts on muscle bulk. He has a great step, speed hands and pass...and his vision and backing up anticipation is awesome. from that video alone I have to say he is one of the best attacking junior footballers I have seen in 40 years Without having seen his defense though I can't comment on that side of his game .
Tyrone W No there's certainly talented players but the game is a lot more one dimensional than Union. Being highly skilled has a greater impact in Union.
Lucius Bones The passage of play is more fluid. The referees have been particularly bad these past few years and have slowed it down but when they ball is in hand it's a lot more free flowing than League.
Reminds me of Nehe milner-skudder the way he's able to beat a person with footwork, hope he has the unselfishness and brain of NMS to put others into space.
Mean Highbury Mean!!! Played touch footy and League against this fullas uncles back in the day. Watched Kalyn play for QLD age grade up here in Darwin, he made the Aussie team that year. Good luck for the future bro, Highbury for life! Na te Lind whanau o Darwin.
It’s because he’s making getting past the players look easy with his footwork, so he’s putting the defenders in 2 minds as to which way he’s going to go.
That's why they should both start at National Provincial level for Canterbury, then onto the Crusaders. Let them sit under the learning tree and emerse themselves into a winning culture. Don't be like Benji Marshall and sign for the crappy Blues and go straight into Super Rugby 😂 and that's coming from a staunch Hurricanes supporter. Benji should've went to the Crusaders aswell and learnt from the likes of McCaw and Dan Carter. Oh well
Both still young enough to have a crack!!! Next thing, they're earning millions playing a more global sport in Europe or Japan comparative to Rugby league. Meh!! Go the Warriors 💪😭
Chump change compared to what Charles Piutau, Matt Giteau and others are getting. Plus it ain't about the money!! It's the allure of the Black Jersey 💪🖤 and once you've worn a Black Jersey your value on the market goes up🤷♂️
Fantastic he chose rugby league over rugby one day he will win a premiership with the Newcastle knights he so very talented and gifted as as a player I really hope the dolphins can sign him up with Wayne bennet as coach he could take his game to a higher level
Another great talent wasting away in NRL. Take nothing away from the quality of that comp, just would be so awesome to see him on a proper world stage at a Rugby World Cup.
He will be the best fullback to ever play the game and if he stays injury free I think he is a big chance of taking the title off Cameron Smith's all time point scoring record in 10 or so years time. Absolute gem of a player.
He won’t be a better fullback than Billy Slater. Slater score 194 tries and would most likely have become the all time leading try scorer if he didn’t lose a few seasons through shoulder reconstruction
@@ronanrogers4127 I think he will shit all over Billy Slater in all aspects of the game. I think he will end up being put in the number 6 jumper to be honest but I'd love to see him stay at fullback...It's been a long time since the backbone of a footy team has been the fullback.
@@johnathancnah5121 I agree I'd love to see him stay at fullback but I think as he grows they will do the same they did with Lockyer and put him in the middle...either way I think he is a natural footballer and wherever he plays he will kill it.
He is currently killing it in the mal meninga cup playing for the townsville stingers so perhaps you could find footage of a few of those games where he has been playing great.
Ponga just signed at 3.5million 4 year deal with Newcastle Knights. He is only 18, that is huge money for someone his age. Lets hope he lives up to all the expectations.
This guy is gonna be unreal when he grows up, good luck to him and his family. I wanna see this man playing origin one day. I feel like he would also suit the New Castle Knights playing style amazingly.

Loarrr they go to a rugby school that’s who there playing for and coaches watch these games cause there the best in there age at rugby in NSW
Billy McCormick what are you talking about this was a school team. Even for a school team for that many people able to get professional contracts it’s still phenomenal.
Loarrr its a rugby school team their only select people they think have talent and that school is one of the better schools for rugby
Billy McCormick no shit Sherlock I know that they are an elite rugby school. So you’re implying they produce 8 professional players every year?
Yeh dude they beat a team 97-0 I watched the game cause I go to the same school he went to before he moved to North Queensland
You’re video got mentioned in the origin pregame! Congratulations
Yeah when Kayln Ponga was telling his story
@MUFC irrelevant, but if u feel the need to get such a point across do so.
@MUFC ummmm no one cares
MUFC bro stfu no body asked soccer is a lot more pussy than rugby aswell
@@qerstinr68 I'm not disagreeing with ya but look up "German soccer player leg cut" and his whole upper leg is just. Bad.
reminds me of George Rose for the Dragons
Union vs League me too hes got the size and the footwork, he just needs some better speed and he might even be better than George Rose.
Running style of David Peachey.
Footwork skills are sub par to the main man george rose but he is close
omg George Rose is fat! DONT COMPARE

Yes he is
Nudgie bruz. all the way.

2:12 That play was so clean🤯
So clean
U gotta be a special kind of talent to know when and how move and step before/as u getting the ball to beat ur defender... 2:02
5 years later and I’m still watching this. Wonder what his story would’ve been like if he was here in nz
he was born here sheep shagger
Look how far his come 👏👏
Easily the best highlight reel 🔥
Barring injury , Ponga could become one of the greats of the game, i have been following him closely .
Talent like that shouldn't be wasted on League bro. Fulfill the contract and then get in contact with a Super Rugby team.
So you're saying that League players are less talented than Union players?
Tyrone W No there's certainly talented players but the game is a lot more one dimensional than Union. Being highly skilled has a greater impact in Union.
***** At lower levels Union can be kind of ugly but with high skill levels it can be a very very fluid game to watch.
Ruby Doobie There's hardly been a very fluid game in this Rugby Championship so far...
Lucius Bones The passage of play is more fluid. The referees have been particularly bad these past few years and have slowed it down but when they ball is in hand it's a lot more free flowing than League.
this guy is pretty good, i feel like he would have a bright future in the nrl
Kalyn Ponga is a proud Queenslander and will play many origins for his state ;)
already locked up with the kiwis cuz

He's very good however the tackling is so poor, skip to 1:40 and watch number 3 try to tackle him. It's embarrassing!

omg ive never laughed so hard in my life
Certainly showed this skill last night in state of o
Wicked talent and already one of the fastest in league imo

Put some Matty bowen in there too
Shaun Johnson? Nah he only shows up for three or four games a year.

That's not fair on this guy. He will be way better. Afterall he's used to being tackled not a one handed tap.
Bucket loads of attacking skill and awareness! But where's the defense?
Tony Ward at the end
How did Australian Rugby lose him to League? We needs more play makers like him. I hope he comes back.

Yes, run up and down the field side stepping off each foot, bang, bang, bang. Practice practice practice until you step without thinking about it. Do it 3 times a week in the off season and it'll soon become automatic. If you don't know the technique then you've gotta figure that out first, then comes the practice.
