    So interesting at that time Parica has prominence in Billy's pov next to Mike. Almost like Efren hasn't crossed the horizon. But it won't be long before he does. Big time. Really interesting how Billy's commentary has been so consistently the same over the years. Buddy's too. Listening to them today vs back then, they sound the exact same. Voices don't age! This is great stuff!

      Efren had already been competing in the U.S. for seven years by this time. Believe me, he was already near the top of everyone's list of great players, but he was not quite as successful in pro tournaments as guys like Sigel, Strickand, Varner, and Hall.

    Not sure what the rules were in this tournament, but at 25:25, Sigel moved the 8 ball with his cue while pocketing the 5 ball.

    Pat, when did Buddy start to slide? I saw him breeze through the U. S. Open in 1998, but after that I don't remember seeing that much of him. Was it health related issues or just a matter of advancing years, or a combination of the two? And when did he last seriously compete?
    I'd love to see more of his matches, as IMO in his prime he was the best nine ball player I've ever seen, bar none.

      Everyone was using either Meucci, Joss or Schon cues with Birdseye Maple shafts turned down to 12.5 mm pro taper.

      Me too! At the International, a ref racks with a template. The players cannot inspect the rack. They must just break the balls. MUCH BETTER!

    Buddy said CJ was unhappy about the 2 ball shot, CJ was pissed about Sigel moving the 8 out of the corner pocket line incase he had to bank the the five back to him in corner. And sigel knew it was seen that's why he didn't bank the following 5 ball ! If he'd of banked the 5 it would of been undoubtedly done on purpose an he knew it.

    Fun to watch! This was after Mike had lost a step or just lost his love for the game.. Not sure? I've heard almost every top player of the time when asked who was their toughest opponent? Mike Sigel's was the answer... Including Efren Reyes who admitted that Sigel was the only guy he never once beat for money.

    2 way carom on the 9. with a built in safety 6 behind the 8 ball. due to the fact that the 8 became a big ball because of the 8 ball position. cueball touches the nine it slows the roll of the cueball.

      Might have been frozen so it would be legal. McGiver didn't look at it and Mike didn't seem to call it frozen. I think it was a foul.

      The rules in 1992 allowed a "jacked up stroke" even when there was a slight space between the cb and ob. The cue ball had to slow down for a legal stroke. That type of stroke today is a foul, but not in 1992.

      sIGEL WAS KNOWN FOR THIS. PROBABLT DOING IT MORE SO TO GET ON THE NERVES OF OTHER PLAYER. ALSO IF OTHER PLAYER WAS HOT AND IN STROKE, THE DELAY GETS HIM TO "COOL DOWN" REALLY BAD SPORTSMANSHIP BY SEGAL AND ALLL THE TALKING AND DELAYS TO DISTRACT MENTALLY.

    Is Billy watching the same match I am, he said CJ did not do anything wrong in those games 4, 5, and 6. Are you kidding me, after he went up 3-0 he missed 2 or 3 easy shots, and hooked himself a couple times, while also playing a couple bad safeties, so CJ did a lot wrong in games 4, 5, and 6.
