Here's my tutorial on how to catch scorpions or tarantulas in Animal Crossing New Horizons. In summary, make sure it's 7:00pm or later, use a nook miles ticket to go on a mystery island tour, chop down all the trees, pick up all the weeds and flowers, destroy all the rocks and just wait for them to spawn. Be sure to scare away any other bugs that spawn on the island.

I got jump scared by one a few minutes ago it scared the shit outta me and I didnt even see it, I also had vibrate on so it also jump scared me like that

If your too scared of catching then you can escape them, but only in one way. You can put on a wetsuit, pull out a net, run as fast as you can, go to the inventory and quickly put away the net, run into the bridge that leads you to the sea water, jump and BOOM! Now the tarantula can't bite you. Same happens with scorpions. (If it doesn't help then i'm sorry)

Tarantulas and scorpions are no longer that profitable because of the low spawn rates because of competing spawns. Sharks and Dorados are the new ways to make lots of bells this summer
fr I had to learn this the hard way. I tried to make scorpion island so many times but I would get like 2 each time. I learned that Dorado's, Shark's and Arapaima's are the way to go now. Lmao

When they enter attack mode they wont attack until you do. If you just wait, they will drop their guard for a second. Then just swing and catch him.

Only spawning crickets, I scare them away and more crickets come back.

Nintendo unfortunately changed the spawn rate of scorpions so now it’s nearly impossible find out

How do you scare crickets?
I spawned on bamboo island and cleared everything out, dumped my pockets on the beach, and made myself a little hole safe haven. I litterally found nothing but crickets. I know this isn't anybody fault but I'm honestly pretty disappointed i spent all evening clearing out different islands and not spawing a single scorpion.

A guide for you that doesn’t usually happen but when you accidentally run into a scorpion or tarantula like really close to it it will kill you but when you accidentally run into it without anything you were holding like a net or something I found this method that when you’re empty-handed the thing won’t charge at you. then you obviously get your net then find a place to trap it and then catch it

You know that if you approach them with your net they do an attack then stop so you can get closer to them but stop each time they have their pinchers in the air, then when they put them down you can edge closer to them. You don't need to run from them or have them chase you haha
This does not work anymore. I have tried on many islands and have seen 0 tarantulas or scorpions.
I landed on money rock island today and after I poked all rocks and left a few holes on the island it started to spawn scorpions. Got 20 of them. I didn't even need to remove weeds

If you’ve ever caught one before you can go to the creature Wikipedia thing on the nook phone and it says the hours an months I’m pretty sure or u could look up the hours on yt

I'm still in the kk stage so here's some tips if your like me!
If you got a villager it doesn't matter just pluck the flower heads and clear trees stumps and rocks put unwanted stuff in the beach for safer times make a line of square holes . Also kill scare throw any kind of bug even the hermits also scare the wharfs.
Also it's better to catch them at 2-3 am I did that and got the amount I wanted but they can spawn at 7 pm - 4 am :) Safe hunting 💕
I caught a tarantula very easily, scoprion on the other hand scares me everytime i see it

BRO SOME VOODOO CRAP HAPPENED BECAUSE I LITERALLY RAN INTO A SCORPION OUT OF NOWHERE SO I WAS LIKE “aw i wanted that” SO I LOOKED UP HOW TO GET IT AND I USED MY FLYING TICKET THING AND I GOT THE SAME ISLAND AS YOU NO CAP

Omg they are so hard to find for me, I saw just 1 tarantula yesterday or the day before but it was hiding behind a tree and it came out and I didn’t have time to do anything and I got bit! Then when I went back to find it again it was already gone☹️now I’m having such a hard time finding another one, this is so tedious luckily I still have a month to get one, but idk if this ends up taking to long I may have to buy one off of nookazon and they probably aren’t cheap either.
When you have a line of holes like that you can jump over the holes. Flick used to buy scorpions for 12,000 bells each.

@@bunnielover9743 I realized why I couldn’t catch one, apparently the time zone stays the same as when you got there. I keep trying to make it’s preparations before 7 and I realized because I was still getting common butterflies at 8

About how often do the scorpion spawn cuz yeah it's not working for me either but I'll admit I don't have the ladder yet so I can't clear that top part of the island yet
I recommend you getting the ladder first. They will spawn randomly

During the month of October, the crickets I tried clearing but they spawn instantly- so it’s extremely difficult at the moment and I was hoping is someone knew what 2 do?
I won't lie, I don't really play this game anymore but I would say as soon as they start spawning, you don't need to continue cleaning up the island anymore

I'm not sure but someone said something about how this was patched. Is this true? Because I'm still seeing many people still getting tarantulas through this method qvq
It's been a while since I've played this game so I'm not too sure if it's patched. I honestly stopped playing the game after I finished the main objective of getting K.K. Slider to come to the island but if people are still getting tarantulas through this method, it should still be working.
I swear they need a settings to turn off the tarantulas scorpions. Those scary things. Because I played so much animal crossing thinking it would all be OK and then BAM I get jumped my tarantulas and I have a big fear of those things + spiders and anything like a spider! I always watch out for 7pm and 4am because I get very scared of those creatures and get nightmares! 😞... I want to contact animal crossing and ask fir it. But I don't worry as long as I am by a villager like coach.

To be honest, I'm not really sure why it doesn't work sometimes. I've done this many times and there were only like 2 times where it didn't work. Best advice I can give you is try again on another mystery island.

Why are there no flying bugs on yours? Maybe bcuz it's a cooler month? I'm trying to get scorpions in Sept but there have been nothing but crickets, grasshoppers, & butterflies (after 7pm). I can't even get the good beetles to spawn. Have tried these force-spawn tricks on multiple islands 😭

@@SuperMalbert I’ll keep do it. I tried the popular trap of have the tarantula fall off a cliff follow it down to the base of the base catching that way but it jumped up bite.
Update I’m sure you did it hundreds of times but I tried the trap with a tarantula it must’ve jumped up bite me. I’ll keep trying around cliffs this is where I find them.

Animal crossing should make a setting where u can turn off any bugs that people can be afraid of. Most of the bugs aren't bad but the spiders give me chills 😭

i completely cleared the island of everything. trees, flowers, weeds, rocks, everything, and other bugs are still spawning. no tarantulas have spawned so far, any advice??
It got patched
No it didn’t get patched. I just did this and it worked, it just takes a LOT of time and patience. One thing I noticed is that you have to also scare away the bugs on the beach rocks, they look like little cockroaches lol just run over them and they will go away. Hope this helps :)
