No one mentions how the entire trilogy, Jack and Barbossa argue over control of the ship. This is the scene where they finally agreed on something and it’s beautiful.
Barbossa stepped aside because he knew jack had a plan to beat Beckett. It would’ve been stupid of him to interfere and argue over captaincy with the threat of Beckett. He waited till they won, then screwed over jack again
TFW you're such a vile piece of shit two pirates that tried to murder each other multiple times put aside their differences and work together just to kill you
Now every single movie has the budget that this film had... and yet this is still one of the most visually stunning and undeniably thrilling sequences I've ever seen in a film.
Nope....no movie has the budget of this film....this is the 3rd highest budget film 1)on stranger tides (400 million) 2) Age if ultron (350 million) 3) At worlds end(300 million)
Or the fact he decided not the even try to defeat either one of them, like didn’t even get a single shot off Like the Dutchman probably not gonna go down but the black perl probably would considering how confident he was before then
Actually the movies were produced when the CGI was beginning to be a real complex subject, so a lot of movies trusted more the old handmade tricks and keep the CGI at the bare minimum (Harry Potter, PoC ...). Ironically that's why nowadays a lot of old movies seems so good comparing to the new one which are fully based on CGI.
The first time I watched this I got so excited seeing the Flying Dutchman come out of the water and being manned by Will. All this time I saw the Flying Dutchman as like a legendary boss and now it's on the good guy's side.
Good guys because Lord Beckett is the main antagonist that threatened Will, Elizabeth and Captain Jack Sparrow. He destroyed many pirate ships using the Flying Dutchman because Davy had no choice since the E.I.T.C. had Davy's heart in the chest. He also executed Elizabeth's father out of "treasonous acts" and he tried to backstab Captain Jack when he refused to give the compass to Beckett.
Yeah, I also got excited at Jack's giddiness when he said 'Full Cover' at 1:11 - not only did he have confirmation that Will was still alive but he was well up and ready for what both the Dutchman and the Pearl were about to do.
Something that I didn't notice when I first saw this movie was how dramatically the Dutchman changed back into the almost pristine ship she used to be. Seeing the barnacles and rusticles coming off and the cannon holes changing from ocean green to their former bronze and gold shade was really satisfying.
@@jersey.eagle.4587 I don't think the director understood why Davy Jones looked gnarly. Being captain of the Flying Dutchman isn't a curse. It's a job. The job of the Flying Dutchman is to ferry souls who died at sea to the afterlife. Davy Jones refused to do that job after Calypso broke his heart. Will seemed quite content to do the job knowing he had a family waiting for him to visit every ten years. But then again, the return of Captain Salazar could have done something to make Will because all gnarly.
@@jersey.eagle.4587 they don't say, but that's my theory. But then again, Salazar was cursed long before Will even met Sparrow. But it could be that as the years went on and Salazar was becoming more active, plus I think Will was having a crisis. He can only go on land every ten years. And every time he's on land, he misses a whole life because of how old Henry gets.
The first three Pirates films wouldn't be as memorable without the incredibly good background music. The director scored a real win when he managed to hire Zimmer for that role.
I feel like that’s just the Dutchman’s theme in general, and it changes to suit the motives of the captain. Jones betrayed his oath to ferry the souls of those who died at sea and became cursed because of it, reflecting in a more sinister and dark theme. When Will becomes the captain, it signifies a new change for the Dutchman and her crew, a return to her original duty, which is signified by this more hopeful and heroic theme. Notice how as well as the rot disappearing and the bonded sea life falling off of her crew, the Dutchman herself also undergoes a metamorphosis, the rust and barnacles falling off and the tarnish of her cannon holes fading to a more brilliant bronze, almost as if signifying a new beginning for her.
@@juriartsziom8343 nah man he just gave up, when he realized he has no leverage over the dutchman, he's fucked, he's up against an undying enemy. Straight gave up lmfao.
0:22 a detail that many pass by is that when the flying Dutchman Returns with Will as the captain plays the same score as Davy Jones but more hopeful and powerful. Davy's original score is much more melancholy and dark that emphasizes a lot of the story of Davy Jones and his personality while the track he plays with Will as captain is much more powerful and hopeful, which emphasizes the kindness, resignation and Will's story until he got here, it's like the Davy Jones tale that worked
The Dutchman even changed a bit or did they do this because they thought we wouldnt see it?😅 Jones' Dutchman had a skeleton as a figure at the ships front and Wills Dutchman hasnt. The skeletons rips were the upper teeth of the jaw like front of the Dutchman and Wills Dutchman has just a jaw like front
It's almost like that's the motif as the Dutchman rather and takes pieces of it's soundtrack from the story of it's captain, yes I know that the original score is literally called "Davy Jones" and it's his locket and all, I just think it's a cool way of looking at it
To this day, seeing the Dutchman rise up out of the ocean like a damn ghost and completely clean is still one of the most incredible moments in a film for me. When I saw this in theaters, I genuinely thought that when the Dutchman came out of the ocean that it was over for the Pearl and the rest of the Pirates, because Becket just got back his strongest weapon, but when I saw the crew becoming human again, and Will captaining the ship with a massive scar along his chest, indicating his heart has replaced Jones's, I almost screamed in the theater with excitement. Now, I think we can all agree that Will's story arc was always going to move towards him becoming the new Davy Jones. His father was murdered by Barbosa, but given a second chance by Jones, and then when Will was imprisoned on the Dutchman, he swore to his father that he would kill Jones and free him. I don't think he ever really considered the consequences of killing Jones, but he was willing to take that risk to do what it took to free his father. And when it came time when he had no choice and the choice had to be made for him, Will became a true pirate and more than that.
Jack did establish in the first movie that regardless of whether or not Will could accept that his father was a pirate or not, he did have pirating in his blood and he would have to make peace with that one day one way or another. I also like how the Dutchman came back and turned the tables. That part about him not considering what would happen to him is curious since he did note earlier that every step towards his father was a step away from Elizabeth. His past and his future colliding so to speak. I do have a bit of a curious thought though. When Jack chooses to confront the Endeavor, one could say that he was planning on the Dutchman helping him and perhaps he was. I think however that losing his immortality and his friend (if only for a short time) caused him to overpower his urge to run away from the situation. His statement that he was never one for tradition strikes me as his way of saying that he isn't running away this time without settling things with Beckett once and for all. Just how I see it.
I legitimately get emotional at this scene. Beckett getting what he deserved, Will paying the ultimate price out of his love for his father, and the crew of the Dutchman being set free. Now that I think about it, it's a great parallel to what Jesus did. Hmmm.
True, it took both The Dutchmen & The Black Pearl to sink The Endevour. Captain Must go down with his ship, since he knew he already lost the fight he gave No orders to fight back, went down like a Boss.
What I love about this scene is that Jack didn't know that the Dutchman survived. He was just so pissed about Will's "death" that he was willing to take on a ship that hopelessly outgunned the Pearl, all to avenge his friend.
My favorite part is a small detail here, Jack and Barbosa both captaining the pearl together. I especially love that Jack doesn’t hesitate once he sees will and says “full covers!” And a second later Barbosa catches on to what Jack wants to do, so rather than stomping on his plans, repeats jacks order. I especially love jacks subtlety as a captain, not yelling his order to fire, but saying it low, threateningly, and calmly, knowing that it will be carried out
Another small detail that I like. When one of the main mast of the Endeavour is snapped we can see that their was already damaged. Meaning that it was the same mast Jack broke earlier in the movie.
This scene is just a pure gem. The subordinates awating orders from Becket and his realisation. The realisation and humiliation of defeat. He has a hard time believing and accepting this enormous loss. He had always been a step ahead of the others, he had always been impregnable but now he feels the grief and anguish of defeat. Absolute materpiece of a movie, the three of them.
I think if he wasn’t in shock, then the pearl and the Dutchman would be shredded, know the Dutchman would love to fight another day, but the pearl wouldn’t
@@the40kboyz11 the pearl would be shredded, but not the Dutchman since it's completely invincible and regenerates itself and its crew. Its probably why he was in shock, no way the armada could survive against the Dutchman. Heck the pearl should've just ran away back to the pirates and let the Dutchman deal with the Endeavor (and the whole armada)
I think the Endeavor still had the edge in firepower. In a realistic world, you don't go broadside to broadside with a beast like that; you outmaneuver her. If Beckett had yelled "FIRE", that scene would have been far messier.
@@oddish4352 Agreed, though I always assumed they went broadside because they knew Beckett and knew he would panic at suddenly not having his assumed advantage.
@@Mechanical_mind94 But if one of his underlings had yelled "FIRE!" or one of the gun crew had just pulled the trigger out of panic and triggered a chain reaction... there were A LOT of cannons on that thing.
Probably my favorite scene in all of the Pirates movie... “Its just good business”.... the walking down the stairs was super cinematic. Best Pirates movie
In reality, he would be thrown offboard by the first explosions or ripped to shreds by flying debris. Yet not even a scratch on his face till his death.
Highest ranker: “FIRE!” Second highest ranker: FIRE! Third highest ranker: FIRE!! Fourth highest ranker: FIRE!!! Fifth highest ranker: FIRE!!! The actual soldier on the cannon: FIR-oh wait that’s me! *proceeds to fire the cannon*
GabrielAnarchy yes, but then you also have to worry about the opponent on the other side firing back at you and having to hope that you don’t get nailed by cannon fire
One of...actually probably THE...best death in the entirety of film history. Everything about it was perfect. Visually and Emotionally it was perfection. Movies now almost all have the same budgets or even higher and they still can't manage to even come close to this. Masterful.
Everyone keeps talking about 3:00 + but the part that gives me massive chills more than anything is :24 when the Dutchman bursts out of the sea to that epic track, one of my favorite moments in the film.
what I realised, is that the skeleton that was hanging on the bow disappeared. when will probably became the new captain, the overall ship went back to it's original design as it was back before Davy Jones stopped ferrying the dead. it's a cool little hint I seen lol
The symmetry at 1:19 of Will turning the Dutchman, followed by that shot the Dutchman on the foreground and the Pearl on the background, and then the opposite with Barbossa is so satisfying.
It’s actually a sacred ship designed by Calypso that she bestowed to Jones to ferry souls to the next world. It’s actually majestic and beautiful, until when Jones abandoned his duties, the ship becomes cursed and ghostly.
It was probably gilded and decorated at the start of its journey (to be more inviting to the souls lost at sea), but when Jones abandoned his duty and carved his heart out, the ship changed just like he did. It became terrific and infused with the souls it was supposed to ferry to the locker
i love just that cheeky grin from jack when he calls for full canvas, i think one of jack’s most under appreciated qualities is that he puts a lot of faith in will and elizabeth over the course of these movies
That's why you make them clean up after themselves. They don't listen take away their crap and if that doesn't work don't feed them. Either that or have them do it via an allowance, a small one but an allowance none the less.
Just avoid broadsides, make sure you don’t get in between them, make sure they are both on low health before destroying them. You can maybe also keep spamming the ram on the back side on them
0:30 i just realized that the parts are falling off because the Dutchman is back to its original look all this time i thought it was because it went into the maelstrom
Considering this is before the curse of the trident was broken, its probably due to the maelstrom, if it was the curse breaking, the sails would have lost all that moss
You can briefly see the little grim reaper figure head burst out of the prow when the Dutchman surfaces, its symbolizes that the Dutchman's task is being reset
Gore Verbinski’s direction really made the first three pirates movies. His visual style and his dark but also goofy sense of humour is something that was seriously lacking from the fourth and fifth movies.
@A Jax lol ik right, and I like that before jumping off if you watch carefully the second in command says for “all hands” to abandon ship, which is why the helmsman leaps off, because before that he wasn’t going.
The second in command reacted properly when seeing the Dutchman return while Beckett still thought his machinations were still in play, pompous fool. 😅
When the Flying Dutchman rises from the water cleansed with a cleansed crew and its new captain, Captain Turner, was just an amazing sight. This scene gives me chills every time I watch it. Then I come back down because I realize that he and Elizabeth got married a few scenes earlier and this means that they will only see each other every 10 years and Will is now immortal (outside of stabbing his heart) and her life is basically finite.
fiesta ariba Nah Flying Dutchman is a literal Ghost Ship. Black Pearl came back from death 2 TIMES. Both are cursed and no single ship could withstand against both at same time.
So wait Endeavor is son/daughter to Black Pearl and Flying Dutchman? He said when Flying Dutchman come he said "Ah she survived" Then Dutchman is mother ship to Endeavor and they just blow their own child for bad exam points. xD
Such an old movie and I still get goosebumps when the music cuts out and the guns fire. I so wish there were more naval battles in these movies, cause it's damn good cinematography.
I absolutely love how when the Dutchman rises a heroic remix of Jones theme plays. Pretty much staying that a new area for the ship and the seas has begun now with Jones corruption gone.
The CGI and the special effects in these movies are easily one of the best in the whole cinema's history, big big shout out to the technicians and the artists who did this
The biggest achievement is that the special effects in Pirates 3 still holds up well today. Every so often, I still pop in my Blu Ray of the film and watch it on a 7' projector screen with two towers speakers and a woofer. It still leaves me awestruck today. PS: it's worth the money to get a Blu Ray enabled projector. It helps the sound BIG time.
I heard that this trilogy is the reason for the current suffering of the special effects artists (they met the deadline magically and the expectations never fell after that)
Oh god I just realized Will has to go back and pick up Beckett to ferry him to the afterlife, imagine how that's going to go down. Will: You know, if you just kept to slave trading, opium dealing, and exploiting third world countries economically and just let me marry my damn girlfriend instead of stirring up all this crap... Beckett: Yes Yes, I know, are you going to keep circling around my corpse or pick me up already? Will: Not sure, it's a new ship, gotta get used to her first, maybe a couple years sailing around the world to get my bearings. Beckett: I thought you were the more merciful one of the lot. Will: Well I'd say there's some room in my heart for a little bit of mercy, even for someone like you. But unfortunately my heart isn't exactly here right now, bye.
I could imagine him offering Beckett a chance to postpone his judgment day..."One Hundred Years Before The Mast". It would have been funny if Beckett had been there in the next film and still serving Will, or maybe involved in some little plot to get free lol.
Xor rd wtf man. The guy was trying to make an original comment, he has that right. Tell me, what wasn’t funny about that. (The whole of it isn’t an option)
Respect to Lord Beckett for going down with the ship. He didn't scream, didn't resist, he just accepted his fate like a man. Edit: I know he was shocked, I know he felt helpless, but my point is he accepted his fate and died with his ship.
I don't think that was his motivation at all. He was shocked that he was bested in a life game of chess. Everything he maneuvered, plotted, and all for him not to foresee that the Dutchman would turn on him and that Sparrow, an uneducated pirate had outmaneuvered him. He was a vain and pompous little thing and in the end it is what killed him.
>commands a fully serviced, state of the Art, 1st rate ship of the line with 50x 24-32 and 42lb long cannons per side with 24" of Oak armor vs 2 Ancient rotten old pirate Galleons with about 15x 12lb guns and 24lb carronades per side and about 12" of oak armor. >stands there and does nothing and loses.
He was in shock the dutchman was an ally until will's death davy jones was the captain until will technically killed him (he had help from jack) therefore will became the dutchman's captain and sided with the pirates
I find this scene so bad, two broadsides from a few pirate galleons would have no chance of sinking a 1st rate ship of the line let alone make it instantly disintegrate like it does in this movie. I guess you can justify this scene in the movie by just saying they are firing magical cursed pirate cannon balls that make everything they touch instantly explode.
@@snapage1606 also the fact that firing broadside on broadside is a very inefficient way of trying to sink a ship since the round shots are landing above the water line, so it's very unlikely that the endeavour would sink, exploding doesn't make any sense either, I'm pretty sure the powder magazine is below the water line.
It's poetic, Becketts ace in the hole turning against him after he underestimated the Pirates, and Will, and the fact that he knew that he lost... I love it. Not to mention the fact that the Dutchman and it's crew reflect the state of its captain, that is a really cool detail.
You know the main reason Beckett froze? HE WAS TRULY AFRAID FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HIS LIFE! If you watch Beckett throughout the series you would see him as highly arrogant to the point of thinking of being invincible. TO ALSO CONTROL THE CURSED MADE BECKETT BELIEVE HE IS A GOD. He had the mighty Dutchman at his whim, and with it he destroyed most of the pirates. Also, with his business he conquered almost the entire known world. Seeing the Dutchman suddenly turning against him, he realised he LOST the power over the seas, and his human side, his weak side, his vulnerability grabbed the hold of Beckett WITH THE SAME POWER WITH WHICH HE POWERED OVER HIS ENEMIES!
Nah I disagree. Beckett's Endeavor will still smash both ships had it fired, plus with a whole armada still behind him. This was the only part of the movie I did't like.. But storywise I took it as that Beckett is such a master strategist, with everything so meticulously planned(Which is probably why he was so chill all the time), on experiencing for the first time being "outfoxed" froze in maybe shock or never having to make impromptu decisions because everything is usually planned for. Also why would the lieutenants just abandon ship and not take over which pissed me off. This too storywise probably they had such unwavering loyalty and respect for Beckett that his indecision unsettled them to the point of terror, and its every man for himself. But for Beckett it was not fear, but being too successful for your own good.
+brav0wing he still could have killed everyone on the Pearl, but perhaps in the end he knows the Dutchman is unstoppable unless you stab the heart, so he knows that even if he fires on the Pearl, he still loses. Maybe in the end Beckett just didn't care about killing Jack if he was going to die anyway two seconds after him.
Most people argue of why the Endeavour didn’t just fire back since it’s having more cannons and broadside compared to the Pearl and Dutchman. Firstly, it’s up against two legendary ships; a supernatural ship with undead crew that is immune to any damage and another ship known for its survival, speed and firepower. Secondly, Beckett’s ego is the main downfall. When the Dutchman rises, he immediately thought that it’s still with his side. But he didn’t know that Davy Jones is dead, and Will is the new captain. By the time the two ships locked the Endeavour in the middle, that is the final death note for him. Furthermore, he underestimated Jack from the beginning, still unaware that Jack outsmarted him time and time again.
I think its more to do with you can only ever fire the guns on one side at a time. Both ways would tear the ship apart. Especially one as heavily gunned as the endeavour.
also whats the point, the dutchman will come back and as we know the dutchman can bring back other ships so it will just be an infinite cycle of the dutchman sinking then coming back or the pearl sinking then coming back
I'm pretty sure, orders or not, you open fire when someone's shooting at you. I think it was the Captain of Prinz Eugen who famously said, when under attack from Hood and her escorts with no order yet to return fire was given, "I'm not letting my ship get shot out from under my arse!"
Beckett thought he was so clever saying "Ah she survived " but his first mate was the first one who noticed something wasn’t right. By the time it was confirmed, it was too late.
I like how Will becoming the new captain also gave new life into the Dutchman, still looks weathered but is now less damaged and more like an actual ship and not floating debris
And I really likes the expression on Beckett's face at 2:33. You can clearly see how he slowly realizes that he has lost and will die now. In the moments before, he has been thinking hard about what he can do, but after this scene, he is completely detached and seems to accept his fate.
I did actually love this scene, I loved that the Dutchman was falling apart after the change, the slow growing panic, the acceptance of fate and silent explosion
@@nomos_lol i think its more so just what happens when you’re going under the sea for large periods of time, notice how they arent turning into fish people, just barnacles and stuff
@@nomos_lol Let just pretend it ended here and the 4th one is a filler story or never happend. Will completed his duty and elizabeth waited for her that one day he had (fulfilling the promise and breaking the 10 year wait curse), thus making the bad dutchman to a good dutchman that ferry souls. Jones is now merged with the sea(calypso) and has the most unique ending . They completely turned every super-natural stuff into a curse i.e the dutchman is special and is designed for a purpose and its not a curse, it was jones who cursed him self, the compass also had a special meaning but no, they turned it into a curse too, Seriously the new writers completely destroyed what was built in the trilogy and went full unga bungaa mode
I like that before the reveal, we see all of the Dutchman's crew literally regain their humanity. Will fulfilled his promises to free Bill, took it a step further by extending it to everyone. It does a real job at showing the kind of man he is.
well, he could ordered his crew to heave to (lower the flag as a sing of unconditional surrender), but if memory serves right all ships in the pirate armada were flying a red ensign as a sing their would be neither quarter given nor expected. and he most likely was to afraid to face The ruling Monarch and the leading members of the Admiralty to explain how in the names of heave he lost a First Rate Man'o'war to some pirates. so he kind of chose the easy way out
He froze. He is a businessman, not a man of war. So when he was outsmarted by Jack(again), he just froze up. Statistically, the Endeavour could take down both ships(Dutchman would be an issue since its self-repairing)
@@reginthehoneybadger8957 sure, but to go one on one with a Man 'O War is still pretty much suicide. Also, Jack maybe the better pirate/captain, but Barbossa is the better helmsman

In a person's final moments, you find out what they're really like: Beckett freezes, unable to give the order for one last broadside or to abandon ship to save his men. Norrington used his final moments to help Elizabeth escape, giving Davy Jones one final defiant stab in the process.

Shame they didn't bring the Dutchman in, but then again the movie would end rather quick because that ship was the warden of all who die at sea. So the moment the Dutchman pulls up, it's game over for the Mary

@MAnuscript421 you have a point Salazar caused Will's gnarly deformity
@@jersey.eagle.4587 they don't say, but that's my theory. But then again, Salazar was cursed long before Will even met Sparrow. But it could be that as the years went on and Salazar was becoming more active, plus I think Will was having a crisis. He can only go on land every ten years. And every time he's on land, he misses a whole life because of how old Henry gets.

I think its amazing how a heroic version of Davy Jone's theme played when the Dutchman emerged. It felt so cool. Hans Zimmer is a genius
The first three Pirates films wouldn't be as memorable without the incredibly good background music. The director scored a real win when he managed to hire Zimmer for that role.
@@largol33t1Zimmer was an absolute MVP in making the music. But I just wonder how it would feel if John Williams made it.
"If the ship goes down, the captain must go down with it"
Weird because the Endeavor was a better ship if the captain said fire they would of won
Juriarts ziom the Dutchman is a ship doing a deity’s work. That ain’t sinking no matter the foe. The black pearl is just a piece of art though.
@@juriartsziom8343 nah man he just gave up, when he realized he has no leverage over the dutchman, he's fucked, he's up against an undying enemy. Straight gave up lmfao.
Juriarts ziom The Dutchman would’ve still won, they control the sea remember?
Not all captains go down with the ship.
That is just disgustingly cool
Cool concept shit on entirely by Dead Men Tell No Tales
The Dutchman even changed a bit or did they do this because they thought we wouldnt see it?😅
Jones' Dutchman had a skeleton as a figure at the ships front and Wills Dutchman hasnt. The skeletons rips were the upper teeth of the jaw like front of the Dutchman and Wills Dutchman has just a jaw like front
It's almost like that's the motif as the Dutchman rather and takes pieces of it's soundtrack from the story of it's captain, yes I know that the original score is literally called "Davy Jones" and it's his locket and all, I just think it's a cool way of looking at it
Holy s*** ... I never caught that but you're absolutely right. Excellent catch!!
Besides, Jack and Beckett have a long running personal enmity.
I legitimately get emotional at this scene. Beckett getting what he deserved, Will paying the ultimate price out of his love for his father, and the crew of the Dutchman being set free. Now that I think about it, it's a great parallel to what Jesus did. Hmmm.

Can we just appreciate that Becketts death was one of the greatest in movie history
True, it took both The Dutchmen & The Black Pearl to sink The Endevour.
Captain Must go down with his ship, since he knew he already lost the fight he gave No orders to fight back, went down like a Boss.
And what I find most impressive is when Becket falls to the flag the crossed the flag is backwards.
Or Beckett falls backwards. The devil has fallen.
Man took it like a true captain
not necessarily, it was probably one of the worst deaths in my opinion. so many things wrong with it.
Saying "Can we just appreciate..." is the most white thing ever.
What I love about this scene is that Jack didn't know that the Dutchman survived. He was just so pissed about Will's "death" that he was willing to take on a ship that hopelessly outgunned the Pearl, all to avenge his friend.
Wtf?? No 😂
What? Jack knew!
I especially love jacks subtlety as a captain, not yelling his order to fire, but saying it low, threateningly, and calmly, knowing that it will be carried out
Jackie had that proper pirate rage
*Full canvas
Another small detail that I like. When one of the main mast of the Endeavour is snapped we can see that their was already damaged. Meaning that it was the same mast Jack broke earlier in the movie.
He says "Full Combat" doesn't he? thats what ive always heard anyway
@@Nasuto1702 nope, full canvas :)

Both ships are cursed endeavour is just a normal ship
I see how the endeavor could have defeated both ships but I still don't get why he didn't give them the order to fire at both ships.
It was also at that moment he acknowledge Jack
brav0wing he was Windows XP oldest model. Just another freeze.
Yea but the Dutchman was nothing compared to the Endeavor no even both of hem could stand a chance if he shot them both at once
I wouldn't wait for an order at that point lmao
Bearz Playz right I would of said fire right when they they started firing as well fuck the captain lol this big ship and guns can't put up a fight
Bearz Playz I understand, I probably would do the same but it's not allowed, so if you win, you lose your job later. You gotta wait for the command
But Beckett got what he deserved anyway.
Bearz Playz same
yes not so epic black sails waay more pirate like
Most people argue of why the Endeavour didn’t just fire back since it’s having more cannons and broadside compared to the Pearl and Dutchman.
@@harrythinkin7240 huh, so it would squish itself if fired both sides.
Because plot armour and it's Fantasy that is why.
also whats the point, the dutchman will come back and as we know the dutchman can bring back other ships so it will just be an infinite cycle of the dutchman sinking then coming back or the pearl sinking then coming back
I'm pretty sure, orders or not, you open fire when someone's shooting at you.
The Flying Dutchman is always gonna be my absolute favorite ship. I get so excited when she rises from the sea. It's such a cool entrance
one thing many fans don't realize is there was a ship known as The Flying Dutchman. It apparently got lost near Indonesia during the 17th century.
I'd you're ever in the Bahamas the Dutchman resides here
2:29 The Lieutenant's facial expression is so good... great acting there
And I really likes the expression on Beckett's face at 2:33. You can clearly see how he slowly realizes that he has lost and will die now. In the moments before, he has been thinking hard about what he can do, but after this scene, he is completely detached and seems to accept his fate.
Nicollo Matt a
He’s like wtf did he just say
“ABANDON SHIP”
I did actually love this scene, I loved that the Dutchman was falling apart after the change, the slow growing panic, the acceptance of fate and silent explosion
Is it just me or does anyone genuinely feel good for the Dutchman's crew when they turn back to human form?
庫倫亞利克 but there caused again in the fifth
@@bobbyberro8107 yeah that doesn’t make sense. As Will is still ferrying souls. Kind of a plot hole imo
I get goosebumps every time the Dutchman comes out of the water and it shows Will as the new captain
But he looked a bit like capn jack sparrows dad tho lol.
I like that before the reveal, we see all of the Dutchman's crew literally regain their humanity. Will fulfilled his promises to free Bill, took it a step further by extending it to everyone. It does a real job at showing the kind of man he is.
I love how Beckett just gave up, he knew there wasnt a way to win. SO funny how his expression changed as soon as both ships turned to his XD
well,
he could ordered his crew to heave to (lower the flag as a sing of unconditional surrender), but if memory serves right all ships in the pirate armada were flying a red ensign as a sing their would be neither quarter given nor expected.
and he most likely was to afraid to face The ruling Monarch and the leading members of the Admiralty to explain how in the names of heave he lost a First Rate Man'o'war to some pirates.
so he kind of chose the easy way out
He froze. He is a businessman, not a man of war. So when he was outsmarted by Jack(again), he just froze up. Statistically, the Endeavour could take down both ships(Dutchman would be an issue since its self-repairing)
@@BeatboxMitchel and Jack is a much better captain and if played right he could outmaneuver the endeavour
@@reginthehoneybadger8957 sure, but to go one on one with a Man 'O War is still pretty much suicide. Also, Jack maybe the better pirate/captain, but Barbossa is the better helmsman
@@BeatboxMitchel I mean according to who? Is he a better helmsman. I’m not saying that isn’t true just wondering also even then they both where on the ship. But I see your point
2:29 I love that, before the guy gives the order to abandon ship, he just opens and closes his mouth, as if he can't formulate a response to what he just heard
In a person's final moments, you find out what they're really like: Beckett freezes, unable to give the order for one last broadside or to abandon ship to save his men. Norrington used his final moments to help Elizabeth escape, giving Davy Jones one final defiant stab in the process.

The joy in jack's face when the Dutchman is commanded by will says it all
I was always a little disappointed that we never got to see the Endeavor in action. It would've been epic to see all those cannons fire and obliterate something.
Yes indeed im wondering that If the brits fired Back If they could Go Out Victorious which would fuck Up the lore in the movie If they would
@@googlemitarbeiter6454 These ships only have enough crew to man one side. They must have prepared for the black pearl. But the other side of the Endeavor is vulnerable. It's a lost cause, that's why he must have lost his will to fight.
@@heleshakob That would have been a good point if Hollywood cared first and foremost about historical accuracy.
EDIT: Oh! And notice how all the cannons on both sides are readied at the same time.
No idea why this film is hated by so many, my favorite film, I saw it in the cinema like 4 times.
Watch the magnificient century also Preveze war... then lets talk again...
İt was biggest sea War of the world...
none of your business Trafalgar was huge
Yuiiski Yuii I saw dead men tell no tells TWICE
I agree, I just hate the two one off movies they did, stranger tides and dead men tell no tales. I feel like in the original trilogy they had more time to really develop the plot and characters at a comfortable pace. I WANTED THE FLYING DUTCHMAN TO PELT THAT GHOST SHIP IN DEAD MEN GOD DAMIT! IM STILL PISSED ABOUT THAT!
Pirate's Skull I agree!
what would have made this scene more perfect is if jack just repeated the quote to him before they fired at the endeavor. would have raised the badass scale up abit
RedForge what quote
Capt. Badger No hard feelings. It's just good business

It should be

I can't count the number of plot twists this movie had in its last 30 minutes. Beautifully done.

Fuckin love that game

My favorite scene of the entire franchise
My most hated movie scene ever
Up is down was my fav
My favorite too, besides the kraken scene in Dead Mans Chest. (Both scenes)
You can tell by the grin on Jack's face he had this planned from the start
There is something deeply satisfying when you see Will and Barbossa line their ships up for that final attack… or is that just me?
Girls locker room: God I hate P.E.! Did you hear that Becky got a boyfriend.
Boys locker room:

Johannes Teilmann Petersen Ok boomer
Boys Locker room sure sounds fun:/
0:24 Imagine when Salazar has Jack pinned down and was about to kill him when all of a sudden, they hear loud splashing noises not far from the Silent Mary. Salazar and Jack look through the hole and see a ship emerging out from the sea as thunder clashes, Salazar was confused but Jack immediately realized it's Will and the Flying Dutchman coming to his aid. The audience would be roaring with joy.
Shame they didn't bring the Dutchman in, but then again the movie would end rather quick because that ship was the warden of all who die at sea. So the moment the Dutchman pulls up, it's game over for the Mary
@@thecommentguy9380 the fight would been over if we saw the Pearl, the Dutchman and the Revenge fighting against the Mary
@@Megatron_95 living ships dont harm the Mary, deadman's ship however
Once the AI movie creator becomes available imma put this in.
Maybe one of the best movie scenes on history. The captain slowly descending the stairs as his ship is blown apart around him...gives me fuckin chills, mate
I like that Jack makes the first call to fire and is the only one who doesn’t yell it
To me his calm undertune pointed out so much how angry he really was about Will's death ...
I love Beckett's reaction to seeing that Flying Dutchman is no longer on his side...Davy Jones has been killed. It's the first time he has no control...he's plans failed....and he doesn't know what to do....and he basically leaves everyone to die.....it satisfyingly seeing that smug face drop....especially when you're waiting for this to happen...
Beckett first mistake was he ordered Davy jones to kill the kraken. The main weapon of Davy jones . Kraken is the only thing defeated Jack, neither Davy jones's ship mates nor Flying Dutchman . If kraken still alive, with the help that Davy jones could destroy every pirates
@@Darkphoton05 Beckett was too arrogant to see the bigger picture on things. And the fact he had all this control.
@@SashGirl34 Beckett was also worried that Jones would use the Kraken against him. Mercer did point out that Jones is a loose cannon only barely kept under control due to his heart being threatened. Beckett does as you state seem to be the kind of person who seeks to kill what he cannot control.
@@jamesvach6698 Sorry, I didn't remember that. That's why I didn't mention it.
