You need to go to Charleston, SC. BEAUTIFUL historic city. From the Revolutionary War to our Civil War, this city played a major part. Gorgeous antibellum homes on the Battery overlooking Fort Sumpter. Great place to eat shrimp and grits and she-crab soup. Even though we are from Texas (the greatest state in the Union), we love visiting Charleston.
I agree regarding the Historic district of Charlotte. I loved it and l’m not sure how many tourists who are from the US go to the downtown business area of Charlotte. Out here in the west the Historic Districts of certain cities are called, “ Old Town”.
Grew up in Charlotte. Charlotte is named after Queen Charlotte, the wife of King George III of England. The county was named Mecklenburg after Charlotte’s birthplace in Germany. This was done in hopes of gaining some political favor from the King. When that didn’t happen sentiments towards the royals changed. During the American Revolution, Lord Cornwallis called Charlotte a “Hornets Nest” of rebel activity. So a Hornets Nest is used as the symbol of Charlotte.
Didn't know about my Charlotte connections but I found I descend directly from Alexanders, Morgans, and Kirkpatricks from the early days. And one of Captain Jack's sisters. I started digging when my dna results came back heavy Scottish.
North Carolina is probably one of the friendliest laid back states on the east coast.. Charlotte is probably the easiest going city I ever been to in America..
I work in Charlotte in the South End. Lots of great eating places and shops. I like Valhalla Pub a lot. Fortunately I live thirty minutes out in a more rural area.
@@rootinteuton966 my brother lives in Concord I live in northern VA...Love when I go down to visit and escape the madness ...It's almost a culture shock..
@Douglas Neeley Every city has those areas. All in all, Charlotte is a nice place. I was born and raised here in Charlotte and still live here 42 years later.
Gold mining started in the U.S. in the Charlotte area. Gold nuggets over twenty pounds were found. The square in Charlotte is built over an old mineshaft. The square has a statue of a miner with a gold pan. I am proud to be from N. C. Thanks for the video !
Is it bad that the first thing I thought when I read the title, was “Oh shit... 😱 What did we do to make this poor guys trip to our city, such a disaster?!” Even though you lost your footage, I hope you truly enjoyed yourself here and that everyone was kind and welcoming to you. If and/or when you ever make your way back across the pond to NC, the coast is beautiful and the mountains (as long as you don’t experience car sickness) are breathtaking. Especially, during the late autumn and early winter months!
Don't forget East Tennessee. Amazing people and southern comfort foods. Also Nashville in middle Tennessee is full of great food and is called "Music City".
Shaun, I’m sorry I missed you in Charlotte. I’ve been following this series and wondered if you were coming to the Queen City. Our professional basketball team is named the Hornets because In 1780, General Cornwallis led the British army into Charlotte but didn’t stay long due to the feisty local patriots. So, according to lore, Cornwallis dubbed Charlotte a “Hornet’s Nest of Rebellion.”
I thought out of the top 5, only BoA was headquartered there. Chase, Citigroup and Goldman Sachs are all out of NY; Wells Fargo is technically HQed in San Francisco, but has an imposing presence in Des Moines.
@RetrogamerV The U.S. Treasury isn't a Bank. It's the Chief financial division for the United States. They oversee banks, collect taxes, oversee the federal reserves, issue payments for government projects. It's basically the United States Accounting Department.
@@trispiral Let me clarify, they are Headquartered in Charlotte on paper. A lot of them have their main offices in other cities like New York, Chicago, Seattle, Atlanta, San Francisco, and Boston.
@@theylied1776 That's pretty accurate. BofA is definitely HQ'd in Charlotte. The biggest financial centers in the US are NYC, Charlotte, Chicago, and San Francisco. If you are selling into the financial services industry, you absolutely MUST be in NYC. That's THE hub.
@@stuartalexander2657 That's where the main offices are, which is different than their headquarters. New York and Chicago are where most of the U.S. based Markets are centrally located.
Originally from Charlotte, left in '75, Charlotte was named for Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg. Charlotte is in Mecklenburg County, they were named in a effort to gain favor with the English King who was married to Queen Charlotte. It is truly a beautiful and friendly city, get back and spent about a week to get to know the area. It was really handy because it is in the middle of the state, east to west, so you can be in the mountains or the coast in 3 to 4 hours.
I'm so sad for you that you lost your footage, but I'm glad you were still able to put together a little episode of our beautiful city. It was so amazing to get to meet you in person, both of you. I feel so lucky!
You need time to East TN. Especially Cade's Cove in the Smoky Mountains. They were Scottish settlers who lived on land that had been the Cherokee Indians winter hunting ground. The Cherokee and Scots were allies. That's why they were given the land to live on. I have family buried there.
Your NC videos was awesome. Love them. So sorry you lost your footage but it was still good. Thanks for the thanksgiving wishes. I spent thanksgiving day with my grandchildren I hadn’t seen in 6 months. Im spending Black Friday with one of my two brothers who both are battling cancer. We are of Scottish heritage n I love all things Scotland. Thanks so much for all the information abt Scotland n the states interwoven with Scotland. Love to you n Teka
Charleston SC.. Yellowstone Park...My Grandma got chased by a buffalo there.. Asheville NC is a must see..it's wonderful there ! The Comedy tour bus tour of Asheville would give you plenty of footage... and laughs. I wish I could have seen you, my Mom is having surgery Dec 3rd and we are getting her settled before that..would have loved to meet you guys ! If you get to Greenville SC.. check out the Fall's park, Downtown ..Cafe and then some. This area in the Blue Ridge plus the United States, has so much to offer you !
Shaun, i love watching your vlog and seeing all the places you have been. Next time you are in the US, you should come to Chattanooga, TN. It is a small town that has been named the best small town in America. It is my home town and a great place to live and visit with lots to see and do. I would be happy to be your tour guide!
Honey, you were tired. I now live in NC (moved from Fla) and I'm getting used to it as well. I've enjoyed the few videos I've found of yours and I will continue to watch, because they are fun, silly, informational, and a wonderfull perspective. Ya'll come back now, ya hear !
Some Things Charlotte is known for 1 - Panthers NFL team and Hornets NBA team 2 - Huge Banking City with Bank of America HQ and Big Wells Fargo Presence 3 - Home to NASCAR. Some of earliest NASCAR races in USA held in Charlotte. NASCAR HQ and Hall of Fame are in Charlotte and 80% of NASCAR teams are headquartered in Concord NC which is a suburb of Charlotte, this is where the Super Speedway is. 4 - The Queen City - being named after Charlotte the Queen of England 5 - American Revolution - The reason the basketball team is known as the "Hornets" is that during the American Revolutionary War one of the British generals said the area was a "hornets nest of rebel activity" meaning very pro USA. 6 - Gold Rush - the area located close to Charlotte towards the mountains was where one of the first Gold Rushes in the USA happened. At one point there was a US Mint in Charlotte because of this. Technically the Mint is still there but it doesn't produce new coins anymore. 7 - Evangelical Christianity - the city was the home of the Reverend Billy Graham who had an international mission and is known worldwide. His Library is located in Charlotte by the airport. 8 - Whitewater Center - Charlotte is home to the US Whitewater Center which is a Man Made White Water Rapids attraction which you can kayak or whatever. Open to the Public but also the training center for the US Olympic teams in these sports.
Shaun, love, just discovered your site abt 2wksago! Love it, especially your "Outlander" vlogs. Oh my Lordy, I've not laughed so hard in a long time. Your humor is so dry at times and I love your willingness to share yourself and your Country's Scottishness. My papa's ancestors came from Edinburgh in 1800's. They had to leave there due to some problems with horse borrowing. And a problem with a noose hanging over their heads.
@@shaunvlog Might be able to get that info from the embassy since they already know you since they've worked with you, could be an easy way to get walked through the process to apply for a visa.
I would recommend coming to Maryville, Tennessee. It was a huge area for early Scottish settlers. Every year there is an event held called the Smoky Mountain Scottish Festival and Highland Games. You should check it out, it’s incredible! I live locally and I’ve been going every year for the past 3 years, and I never miss it.
Hey Shaun, enjoy your videos. The beautiful Pacific Northwest (specifically Washington ) is a great place to visit! Seattle, Pike Place, Space Needle, Brewerys, wine vineyards, tulip festival (April/May), Scottish Highland Games/Festival (July), mountains, beautiful scenery and so much more :) Love Edinburgh by the way. Someday hope to come back and explore more of my Scottish heritage. Blessings
Great video, especially considering the circumstances. Come on down here to South Carolina. Charleston is very interesting. But to really take in something different, it’s hard to beat the West. Try Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Zion, the Sierra Nevada, or the Pacific Coast Highway, or the Northwest, even Alaska.
My home is North Carolina, but I spent a lot of time in Lexington, Kentucky! It’s the “Horse Capital of the World”, so you can visit Keeneland, one of the popular thoroughbred racetracks and you can also visit some of the distilleries which make bourbon! If you hope on over to Louisville, around an hour from Lexington, you can also see Churchill Downs where they hold the famous Derby!
Sorry to hear the loss of footage, but did you try Chickfila Milkshakes? They are my favorite from fast food restaurants. If you are headed to the western USA (specifically Wyoming, Nevada, or California) I'm familiar with the areas. Wyoming has the 1st National Park Yellowstone and 1st National Monument Devils Tower let alone lots of unique climates and towns. I live in Reno Nevada near Lake Tahoe and of course California with several outstanding National parks Yosemite, Kings Canyon/Sequoia, Redwoods, etc.
@Mack I kinda think they suck TBH. They're always too hard and frozen. I swear I think they make them in advance and freeze them. They get them out so fast as the drive thru with so many flavors I can't see them making them right then and there with that speed
Shaun, guess you’ll have to come back but this time come up to a mountain city, Asheville, known by several nicknames, but Beer City of the US., San Francisco of the South, Food City, USA to name a few. Sound good? This time though, don’t lose your footage.
Come to Alaska!!! We have a Highland Festival in the summer, and I think you would love it here! The scenery is gorgeous and the people are nice, and it’s just a very cool place that’s different from anywhere else in the States. It’s a HUGE state (more than twice the size of Texas) so there’s tons to experience. We’d love to see you here!
Come to Huntsville, a beautiful little city in northern Alabama and the one-time home of Verner von Braun and his rocket scientists. Drive a few miles west of Huntsville to visit the childhood home of Helen Keller. Drive north to take in Nashville, the home of the Grand Ole Opry. Head east to see Knoxville, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville and Gatlinburg, TN as well as the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. In the western part of TN is Memphis, home of the Blues, great BBQ and Elvis. Visit Elvis' home, Graceland, and then head east to Tupelo, MS to see the restored shotgun house where Elvis was born.
If your next trip here is during the winter, I'd suggest you come to the desert part of the country. It'll still be comparatively warm, but not stifling hot like it is in the summer, which turns you 5 shades of pink, and is not comfortable. What I'm speaking of is Phoenix, Tucson, California east of LA, and all the way to Death Valley.
another fun fact.. there are hornets on the CMPD badges.. because King George said that area in the revoutionary war was like "Kickung a Hornet's Nest."
Happy Thanksgiving Shaun! America has so many different and beautiful places to visit. Some of my favorites are Yellowstone National park at Jackson Hole, Wyoming....The Rocky Mountains that traverse many states....Lake Tahoe area in Cal/Nev. area....Zion National Park, Utah....Death Valley National Park, Calif. Good hunting!!
Also.. You're excited about Governor Tryon.. you needed to come to EASTERN NC to New Bern. North Carolina's original capital where Tryon Palace still is... the governor's mansion.
I'd recommend trying different regions of the US and experiencing how different the Mid West, Mountain region, South West, and West coast are from the East coast next. You might find some pretty interesting and unexpected differences
I am truly sad that I just discovered your channel and missed your trip to NC! I live about 45 minutes from Charlotte and would have joined y'all. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip here and I hope you plan a trip back. I love Outlander and have been reading the books since the series started in the 90's.
I had an idea for you to learn more about the states. Trader Joe's sometimes has mystery packs of their store bags, and sometimes the packages will include their reusable specialty bags they design based on different states (eg, a Virginia bag, a Michigan bag, etc.) Each side of the bag has different sayings, symbols or other items related to the state. It's really neat. Also, have you ever collected any state or national park quarters? That could be another fun hobby. I've seen display boards sold in stores where you can insert the quarters into a map of the U.S. Cheers!
Oh I’m so sorry you lost your footage of our city! You’ll have to come back. Even though we look like a new city, we have a lot of history, much of it from our Scottish ancestors. Our Scottish ancestors had a great impact on the founding of this nation right here in Mecklenburg County.
Shaun, fly to Las Vegas .. From there you can see 6 to 10 National Parks in a 400 mile radius. Grand Canyon, Sky Walk, Arches, Zion, Canyonlands, Bryce, Death Valley, Giant Sequoia, Yosemite, Tahoe, etc. etc. etc. Cheap flight to Vegas and rental car and Go!!!
Glad to hear you liked my home city. Not much of a bar person but if you are you will not be hurting to find a brewery in charlotte. The reason NASCAR is big here is many of the big name teams are based in concord. That and the bootleggers made their runs through Charlotte.
We live in Raleigh, NC (the state capital) and absolutely love it; always welcome to come here! Has over 400,000 people; second only to Charlotte in population. Lovely city; great people and heritage. In South Carolina, you should absolutely check out Charleston. It's a beautiful city dripping in history. Like NC, SC is one of the original 13 colonies. We're just so glad you enjoyed your time in our great state and again, you absolutely SHOULD come back for a visit!!!
Having driven cross-country several times, I have to say Denver is a good city to explore. I love the Molly Brown house. In the Rocky Mountains I love Breckenridge - cute little town to stay at a B&B. I moved from the US to Cambodia 12 years ago, and the only place I miss is the redwoods. My favorite was Big Basin State Park near Santa Cruz in California, but Sequoia National Park is also good with the General Sherman tree and it is near Yosemite National Park. You can also see redwood trees mid-California up through Oregon and Washington. I highly recommend going somewhere you can experience the majestic beauty of the redwoods!
Too bad about losing your video content. Visiting Charlotte, NC is interesting as that is where we have the Loch Norman Highland Games. I'm fairly certain many folks are quite used to seeing kilts. The biscuits have gravy on top. Specifically, it is sausage gravy. We make a roux with flour and butter, add milk, thicken and add sausage and a good amount of seasoning (salt / pepper). It is mostly a southern thing. I love it. You'll find a LOT of traditional Celtic music in the area as this is one of the main areas the Scottish and Irish settled and they brought their music with them. You will also find MANY tunes that are derived from those Irish/Scottish tunes. Suggestion: You could post a request from those who visited with you in North Carolina, carrying their smartphones around, for some of their video clips. Who knows what that might turn up. If you get to Asheville, NC, I call it one of the micro-brewery hot spots of the world. They open so many in a short time I've never been able to get to all of them.
Shaun, I'm sorry that the footage was lost! On another note, if you get a chance to visit Oregon there's a great deal of beauty and unique experiences here. We have a lot of creative folks, the Lewis and Clark trail and settlement... not to mention that it (the North Oregon Coast) shares the same weather as Scotland with the rain, cooler temps and fog in the mountains. We also have Scottish roots in that a number of Scots took the Oregon trail to settle here. It's worth a visit if you get a chance! And if you hit Seattle, WA, the Pike Place Market has some delicious food!
Bank of America is based in Charlotte because it's really NCNB (North Carolina National Bank). NCNB started buying up other banks and then changed its name to NationsBank. It then bought Bank of America because it wanted the name.
Whenever you come back to NC, you'll have to visit the Outer Banks. There is a lot of history there. Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard, lived & took refuge in the Outer Banks while attacking unsuspecting ships off the coast. Kitty Hawk NC is where the Wright brothers made their first controlled & sustained airplane flight "First in Flight". On a side note: NC is also known for being the first colony to take a stand against Britain & earn their freedom from British control by defeating 1600 British loyalists "First in Freedom"
So many places to visit here, I was born in the states and I havent even been to New York, though I've been to a lot of places. Atlanta is a good place you should visit, huge city with s suprising amount of greenery. You can visit the Aquarium, Coca Cola world, go visit six flags, catch a football game in the new stadium, catch a Braves baseball game or Hawks basketball game if you like sports, visit the Atlanta Zoo and Botanical gardens. That's just one place of countless places to go
I'm from neighboring South Carolina, but I visit Charlotte a bit. It's a nice town. It's named the Queen City because it was named after Queen Charlotte. Also about Tryon, there is a whole city named after him in NC as well. Tryon NC is a bit closer to my neck of the woods, in southwestern NC. The stuff on you biscuits was not grits. It was sausage gravy, and its pretty much what it says on the tin, sausage and flour and milk and usually a lotta pepper. Glad you enjoyed our little neck of the woods. Come back soon, ya'll, ya hear? :)
Shaun! Happy and blessed Thanksgiving to you! Pick the best people and the best fare on your last day over here.Next please plan on coming back to be with us again!
I don't know how you feel about driving in the US. I would encourage you to perhaps drive from one city to the next. Airport to airport means that you miss a lot in between. Smaller little towns are really the "heartland". Great video series, look forward to the next!
Fun fact. I had an internship at WBTV back in 1970. Making sure all the scheduled ads had tape reels for the day. Way early in the morning before the station went live. Students universally have no lives.
Come to Atlanta, Georgia! I loved here! Home of Martin Luther King Jr. Home of Coca Cola. Largest aquarium in the world. Great people. There is a big music scene here. Lots of films are shot here. Great food and beautiful nature. Great nightlife. Great theater. People seem to forget about or don’t even think about Atlanta. Also there aren’t that many Atlanta your tube videos. You can expand that, learn a lot and have a lot of fun. Home of Chick-Fil-A. Home of Waffle House. World famous and Grammy award winning Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
Atlanta has several claims to fame while managing to not be particularly enjoyable. It's like Charlotte but stressful. Still worth a weekend visit but wouldn't be in my top 10. I'm sure some people will love it. My opinion.
I grew up in Atlanta, and I now live in Alabama. I love Alabama, but I do miss Atlanta. It’s a great city! Shaun, you definitely should visit Atlanta for all the reasons listed above and more. Friendly people, great night live, wonderful restaurants, lots of cultural activities, the best airport in the world, and lots of beautiful scenery. It’s a very diverse, very green, very delightful city.
Shaun, I have traveled to many large cities in the U.S. and I have to say my favorite is San Diego, California. The weather is the best in the states, My daughter lives there and every time we go it is 72 degrees {22.5 c} San Diego has a lot to do. A world class zoo, Sea World, Museums, The Midway aircraft carrier, just too many things to list. It is just a beautiful city.
Bro am San diegan and there’s nothing do do here perfect weather yes but the city is a small as a town don’t recommend SD .. Los Angeles is way better and way much more to do same weather maybe better weather
You should come to Yellowstone NP in Wyoming, it's gorgeous up here. Once you purchase a car pass then it's good for a week and it doesn't matter how many people are in the car with you. You will definitely need a week to see it all and take it all in. You can also hope over to the Grand Tetons, I haven't been there yet but it's pricey and that's where the rich people live. Just make sure you don't come in winter because most of the roads are closed and so is the park. Happy thanksgiving!🦃
Frederick, Maryland. Not only do I live here but there’s a lot of history (Francis Scot Key, Barbara Fritchie, National Civil War Medicine Museum), excellent food, local breweries and distilleries, art, and music. It is also location of Keys Baseball, USAMRIID, is a short drive from Camp David and hosts 72 Film Fest. Plus, it’s an hour from Baltimore which I also recommend visiting.
Montana/Idaho are likely one of the destinations you want to make. One of the things most tourists do is head to the big parks, Yellowstone and Glacier. The state parks have a lot of what the National Parks have without the crowds. Have to watch the time of year. Glacier National Park doesn't open fully (it opens up based on how much snow they have cleared out until the Going to the Sun Road is fully open sometimes mid-July) and of course Yellowstone. Which in the middle of June have a lot of people down there. When I go it's before school lets out for the summer or, after it opens in the fall. Prices are crazy for hotels at the height of tourist season but, get with one of us locals for places off the radar for better pricing. Bozeman is a nice city outside of Yellowstone with things to do in the area, horseback riding, zip lining, fishing, outdoors things. Plus a lot of brew pubs and of course gun ranges. It's beautiful country. Here's an overview of the state. ruclips.net/video/c7XYzOd8R0I/видео.html
I just returned from a visit to the western part of North and South Carolina and I really enjoyed it. It is so beautiful there, the weather is pretty good and people have figured it out, so are moving there is droves. I only went through the airport in Charlotte, but I did discover that the biscuits at Bojangles put every other fast food restaurant's biscuits to shame. Southern food is generally very good.
If you visit America again, come to Chicago. (In the summer.) We've got architecture, shopping, beaches, theater, music, and comedy venues. Also tons of restaurants featuring foods from all over the world.
We all have unintentionally erased, or recorded over video, photos, etc on memory cards. So, yeah, that happens! That having been said, I enjoyed this video about North Carolina, it is very well put together in spite of the loss of a lot of the footage you had filmed! Looking forward to your next video!! 😎👍
Thanks Shaun! So sorry you lost the footage.... But don't beat yourself up about it. Your trip was wonderful and a lot of fun to see! So, of course I'm going to tell you to come to Utah! Zions National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Arches National Park, Capitol Reef National Monument, Dinosaur National Park, and about 100 beautiful State Parks teeming with wildlife, good trout fishing, camping. Etc. The Great Salt Lake, Antelope Island State Park full of wild Bison! And where I live, Heber Valley and Park City, Utah. Home of the 2002 Winter Olympics! Go on a guided Horse ride, excellent dining, hiking, biking trails and 4wd rentals and tours. If you're here in the winter, lots of great winter activities! Downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snowmobile tours in our beautiful Rocky Mountains! We have rodeos, all summer long, oh and did I mention the best fly fishing! Leave here and head up to Wyoming. Start in Jackson Hole! Off to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park, where you need to worry about the wild Bison more than the bears! I'm going to send you a Travel Guide! The West is beautiful, massive, mountainous teeming with wildlife and not many people! Get your Wild West experience on! ........ If you've read this far, I must confess that I spent my life working for the Department of Natural Resources here and I know where to go, what to do and how to get there! Also where the best Native American petroglyphs, ancient settlements, places to go! We have a long history here with the Native People! And they left some amazing historical sites. People here are so nice and they're good Cooks! Expect to eat a lot of beef and try many good local beers! See ya next time!
San Antonio has lots to offer and the people are friendly! It is also a good starting place for a Texas tour. It is only about an 1.5- 2 hour drive to Austin, which is a city with a lot of personality and which is supposed to be the live music capital of the world., and it isn't too bad of a drive to Houston. If you visit in the spring, you might get see the bluebonnets, and you could visit a ranch if you felt like you wanted to try a different, less-urban type of experience.
Shaun, I'm just finding your channel and love it. When you come back you really need to come to Wilmington NC where Jamie and Claire first arrived when they got to NC. I live near there and there's alot of history here!
Well, you know Claire and Jamie started the New World in Wilmington, so you should come check out the Port City. It's a pretty cool town with a weird mix of people from all over the place. More breweries than any small city has a right to, and a great downtown scene.
Personally I think you can't go wrong anywhere in the US. Every city, every town, every region has it's own culture and personality. Though I definitely would recommend hitting the West Coast and maybe South West. Top place I'd recommend in San Francisco. I'm a bit partial having lived and worked in the SF Bay Area for about 8 years and I love it here (minus the high cost of living, the problem you get when a place gets too desirable). Simply endless things to see and do, amazing food, a truly unique combination of cultures (like the original China Town), lots of history being a major port. Near Napa and Sonoma (and other) wine valleys. The greater region is the tech central of the world, so lots of interesting aspects there. Weather is great, love the people (who come from all over the US and the world and hold every view imaginable). Definitely would recommend coming here, but definitely have plenty of time since there are countless things to do and see. Another place I'd recommend even if I'll admit my bias, since I was born and raised there, is Phoenix, Arizona. A totally different vibe than other US cities, huge (6th largest city) but spread out instead of being super dense. Lots of region things to see, like the Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater, there are major Native reservations nearby etc. Never been there myself but not all that from Tombstone and the Old West stuff.
You definitely need to see Alaska for it's wide open natural beauty and great food! You can pan for gold at the Crow Creek mine, see glaciers, see wild life and again, have good food, like King Crab!!!
Glad to have you visit NC from a fellow NC resident!!! Next time check out the beautiful water falls in the mountains Lineville Falls NC,check out the pottery capital of the world visit Seagrove NC then swoop down to the coast and check out black beards island with horses roaming freely (shackleford island.) you will pass the tyrion palace on the way down to the island visit would be a nice trip.
I've started buying new SD cards when I go on trips so I can keep the data as a backup forever. SD cards are cheap enough now it's worth it for not loosing any data. I too have deleted data I needed and not released it until days or weeks later. I totally know how you feel.
🍗🦃 Happy thanksgiving y’all 😊🏴🇺🇸
Charlotte is called the Queen city because it was named after King George III wife Queen Charlotte.

30 minutes from my house, and I've never been! Because of my Scottish surname, a visit may be in order!
Also the town of Tryon is located in Western N.C.
Most of the largest Banks in the United States are headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Well done for salvaged phone footage. Fabulous editing.
Queen City because it was named after Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg and it’s in Mecklenburg County.
The Grand Canyon, one of the 7 Wonders of the World. Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Sedona and Payson. Arizona
I second that, SGlitz.
SGlitz and Colorado while he’s there haha
Yea he should do a whole trip of the southwestern states.
I'm so sad for you that you lost your footage, but I'm glad you were still able to put together a little episode of our beautiful city. It was so amazing to get to meet you in person, both of you. I feel so lucky!
I hope you come back to Georgia for
Stone Mountain Highland Games
48th Annual
October 16 - 18, 2020
And the games @Grandfather Mountain NC in July. Do both!
Btw @shaun we have a Scottish parade every year here in Greenville Sc. It’s lovely. You should come visit if you are able
Come back to America in the autumn 🍁 and experience Utah. It's a gorgeous, vibrant state and we would love to have you!
Even without the actual footage, you still managed to make it a great vlog👌, thks!😁 and Georgia is so worth your visit one day
You need time to East TN.
Because Charlotte isn't on the coast along a major river, it was a small city until relatively recently.
Go skiing, or snowboarding in Colorado. The Rocky Mountains are beautiful!
Amanda s. I second this a lot
why? they ski and snowboard here in NC
Jon Menard Ski areas in NC are icy hills. Colorado has real skiing on real snow

Some Things Charlotte is known for
1 - Panthers NFL team and Hornets NBA team
2 - Huge Banking City with Bank of America HQ and Big Wells Fargo Presence
3 - Home to NASCAR. Some of earliest NASCAR races in USA held in Charlotte. NASCAR HQ and Hall of Fame are in Charlotte and 80% of NASCAR teams are headquartered in Concord NC which is a suburb of Charlotte, this is where the Super Speedway is.
4 - The Queen City - being named after Charlotte the Queen of England
5 - American Revolution - The reason the basketball team is known as the "Hornets" is that during the American Revolutionary War one of the British generals said the area was a "hornets nest of rebel activity" meaning very pro USA.
9 - traffic
@@xxIluvyouguysxx I second that .
Shaun, eventually you’re just going to have to move here.
FatherKnowsBest figure out how I get a working visa and I’ll move tomorrow
Seattle, Pike Place, Space Needle, Brewerys, wine vineyards, tulip festival (April/May), Scottish Highland Games/Festival (July), mountains, beautiful scenery and so much more :)
Love Edinburgh by the way. Someday hope to come back and explore more of my Scottish heritage.
Blessings
The Queen City is named after Queen Charlotte, wife of England's King George III
Biscuits & gravy!!🙌🙌♥️ u had a southern staple 😂🙌
Bad Habit Babbitt Heyyyyyy Reno!!
If he's in Charlotte.... the only chicken place he needs to worry about is Bojangles!
@Mack He'd still be waiting on it to melt enough he could eat it with a straw ;)
Two words: Frozen Lemonade
@Mack I kinda think they suck TBH. They're always too hard and frozen. I swear I think they make them in advance and freeze them. They get them out so fast as the drive thru with so many flavors I can't see them making them right then and there with that speed
Shaun, guess you’ll have to come back but this time come up to a mountain city, Asheville, known by several nicknames, but Beer City of the US., San Francisco of the South, Food City, USA to name a few. Sound good? This time though, don’t lose your footage.
Sarah Wall And see Biltmore while he is there. I love the Waynesville area too.
Yes, I work at Biltmore House, it's awesome! Hope Shaun comes back this way soon....
Being called “San Francisco of the South” is no compliment. Asheville is a cess Pool of Yankee transplants
The state of Virginia is so jealous. Even in NC you missed the Outer Banks.
Yeah. I find it weird that he would not go to manteo
Enjoyed your NC videos! As a native of Charlotte, I’m glad you enjoyed your short visit to the city.
The Grand Canyon---No question!
Along with Sedona -- and maybe Santa Fe, New Mexico !
Harriet Bredehoft he could to Space Camp in Huntsville
If your next trip here is during the winter, I'd suggest you come to the desert part of the country. It'll still be comparatively warm, but not stifling hot like it is in the summer, which turns you 5 shades of pink, and is not comfortable. What I'm speaking of is Phoenix, Tucson, California east of LA, and all the way to Death Valley.
another fun fact.. there are hornets on the CMPD badges.. because King George said that area in the revoutionary war was like "Kickung a Hornet's Nest."
My condolences for your Doh moment My dear Shaun.

I was born and raised in Charlotte, so glad you like our beautiful city! I have also been to your beautiful country and I hope to visit again!
Raleigh, NC and surrounding areas! Hope to see you here! Happy Holidays! 🤗
So glad you enjoyed our great city! Please come again and stay longer!
I did the same! I lost all my footage from my trip to Egypt!! The pain never goes away!
Shaun, I think Detroit would really amaze you! Don't come till after winter though. Lol

Atlanta has several claims to fame while managing to not be particularly enjoyable. It's like Charlotte but stressful. Still worth a weekend visit but wouldn't be in my top 10. I'm sure some people will love it. My opinion.

NC is the 8th fastest growing state in the US.
I’m in Greensboro btw.
Charleston, South Carolina is a must-see. I’d also suggest New Mexico, Arizona, and the California coast.
Chatlotte is a major financial center.
You need to come to Massachusetts and see Cape Cod and the islands of Martha's vineyard and Nantucket!+
