Hi. Fun to see this. I used an Arca Swiss 69 for architecture for many years. I used the 90mm, 75, 55 and 47, also Schneider 110. Which broke my heat to sell. One of your comments mention the Nikor 300 f9. A truly superb kens and very tiny. Room for movements with 8x10. I still have my Pentax spit meter. So simple so great. I now use GFX 50S and 100S : 20-35, 35-70, 100-200 (or Canon 100-400) Plus canon 24 and 50 TSE. I admire film but never did my own development so I guess I missed a lot of the reasons for doing. I find the Fuji GFX 50S with tilt shift lenses is almost as much fun as the Arca. And in many ways much more convenient. Good luck!! With gear.
Been thinking about pulling the trigger on the Fuji GFX for a bit now... So heavily invested in my Canon gear and spoiled by the focus! Still the files must be very smooth!
The way your Technika hangs out of the bag dividers makes me nervous. ;) It's hard to find a bag deep enough for the Linhof tho. I usually put mine flat on small bags or on top of the core units on roll top bags.
It seems very safe to me and has been used like this for a few years now. The camera is a bit of a tank when folded. If I have to much “crap” in the lower zipper department it does not close well. Otherwise closes perfectly and works great!
The Lee caps are the cheapest things they make, but are indispensable. I wish Benro did the same for their system. I also love your light meter and beautiful leather holster. Been on the lookout for one of those for some time now. Great video, as always.
Yeah I am glad I found the Lee caps but was taken back by the quality…. But then again for a Lee product are super cheap. I could see them charging a premium for anything nicer. The Zone IV is apparently modified to better meter for shadow with Tri-X I believe. Have not tested it against a factory one and doubt there is much difference. Falls in line with the other meters I have. I do love the holster. And the zone dial is a must. So easy to make exposures and place objects on zones that you want. Thanks!
@@Distphoto anyone ever give you grief about the Pentax meter leather holster? I ended up getting a fabric one from Stone photo along with several other bits from him since I’m using an Fstop pack without an insert. Great way to roll if you need a more substantial pack for greater distances and room for rain gear, food and the tripod strapped to it. I’ve done 10 miles and dislike being tired, the load carried well.
Yes like SAMANIVAN said you can get 6 holders in there. though I usually keep five as six is pretty snug. I usually am shooting black and white film to be printed in my darkroom. The variable grads basically mimick what I find to be a very easy burn down in the darkroom. I do use color filters to bring down the sky as well as the polarizer at times. Otherwise I just leave it to the printing stage, unless I have a plan going in then I will pull them out. Just found I never really used them.
The bellows on the master does extend out really far. From what I have gathered 400mm can be used without anything additional. The longest I currently have is the 210 so no real world experience on this ( though I would like to get some 😀)
@@Distphoto I'm honestly thinking about trading my Hasselblad 500CM off for a Technika. I am thinking about three lenses for it, 300MM, 150MM and 90MM. The reason for the 300 is I'm also looking at an 8x10 intrepid which is. more or less the "normal" lens for 8x10 cameras (Please correct me if I'm wrong).
@@sbillsI get that sometimes the square just doesn’t seem right for the scene. I have also never been a huge fan of cropping but that is doable especially if you have the image in mind while shooting. I had considered a 6/4.5 back for mine but then you have to deal with orientation issues… might revisit that myself. Put my 500 cm in my pack with just the 80mm. And have been randomly been shooting with it more candidly after the Fuji experience. I can say for sure the Hasselblad shooting experience overall is superior. That click and shutter is just so satisfying. But yeah the square gets me sometimes too 🤷🏻♂️

Your welcome! Thank you Steve, much appreciated!

nearly identical kit, you have excellent taste ;)
As do you! 👍

Never underestimate the need for an extra shutter release. A 300mm f9 Nikkor: good add and it’s small.
Thanks! That will most likely be the next lens in the lineup. Very happy with the Nikkor lenses!
You’re the best!
Appreciate that, thanks!
Thanks, interesting to compare. Two q's. How many film holders fit in those nice black bags? Without VNDs, how do you control the sky?
I have the same film holders, they hold 6. 👍🏼👍🏼

What tripod?
What's the longest focal length you can use on the Technika? I'm going to guess 300MM max but maybe only 240MM?

@@sbills I am not sure on the 300mm - largest I have shot is 4x5. Does seem like fun though 😁
Not sure I could part with my Hasselblad…
@@DistphotoI hear you about the Hasselblad - Just feel like I'm "Mr. Square."🤣 But hey, it's worked for Michael Kenna!

Coming from 35mm, didn’t realize all the telephotos one uses for large format 😂
