This channel is great for the enthusiast fisherperson or aspiring fisherperson so when one of my mates enquired about learning more I suggested it. He responded that it was of limited value to a person like him. He has a couple of young kids and they only try fishing once or twice a year on holidays. When they go they grab the Kmart JW rods out of the garage, load them up with all the other gear and head off. When they get to whatever coastal spot they chose to stay at they go to the 7 Eleven or servo and get some prawns for bait. Then they head to somewhere the kids can’t get into too much strife like a bridge, jetty or park to catch a fish, any fish will do, a puffer, tiny bream etc as its all based around entertainment value rather than feeding the family. What he is looking for is help to achieve that. He will never catch worms or learn the FG knot and he’s not going to buy a Stradic reel and match it to a $300 rod. He just wants some tips on how to identify good places to try for kids 5-11, how to catch a fish quick with cheap gear and then release it. That’s what entertains the kids. If a keeper comes along then that’s a bonus.
There would be tens of thousand of families like this. Far, far more than the enthusiast fishing community and as far as I can see no one on youtube is catering to them. There are a few “Temu Challenges” and the like but that’s about it.
Roger teaches how to quickly, easily and consistently catch fish. Therefore he's not pushing the cheapest way to fish. But you can always adapt your budget to correspond to his setups.

Why not use a baitrunner type reel Roger, then you gold have your drag set light but when you want to strike you only need to disengage the baitrunner and strike on your preset drag.

Great vid Rodger!Thanks for all the tips.I Caught a small mulloway while experimenting with beach worms last week on a 2 hook rig similar to what you use with 1 hook threading the worm on standard and on the 2nd hook bunched up a couple small worms which accounted for the mulloway.Looking forward to a worming vid on that beach.👍

Damm, salmon that size are superb eating. I would rather it than the bream ANY DAY. ☺ You must live in an awesome part of our coast. My beach fishing is average to say the least. (I live in the SW of W.A.) Have to travel a loooong way (from my home town of Bunbury) for that sort of fishing now-a-days.
I went fishing on the same night around the same area looking mulloways but miss read the conditions and didn’t catch anything. Wasted 6 hours. Shows what experience can do. So much to learn for an amateur like me.

A bad days fishing is better than a good daya work
Lately Roger I've been using your running sinker rig you use for Jew, but I've been using it for bream and whiting and it's been working really well. With the paternoster rig I used to get a lot of bites and miss them. But with the running sinker rig they can run with it and I'm seem to get a better hook up.👍

That is useful to know that Mulloway is a Low Energy fish (don’t like strong current).
What about Gummy shark, is that also Low Energy?
I have caught Salmon and Snapper in strong current, so they seem to be High Energy.

I've been watching quite a few of your videos Roger, and I want to see you catch a good mulloway. Scrap the worms, squid strip's, occy unless they're big and live. Your a gun at catching whiting and salmon etc. Catch one of those. Single or double 10/0s. Wade out as far as your can. Good gutter. Get a decent cast and I'll be keen to hear your results!! My 2 cents! Good luck!

It’s getting harder to trust the swell/weather forcast, they are wrong so much, only got 1 the same night, 17kg, only had 2 bites in 5 hours.
Yes, sometimes the report is big swell and its flat. Worth the wait for the one fish
