FYI, the mannequin at the end is a tie-in to another series which takes place within the Nasu-verse aside from Fate, that being Kara no Kyoukai, a.k.a. Garden of Sinners. I highly recommend checking these short movies out. There are like 9 or 10 of them all done by Ufotable years ago in the early 2000's I think. These movies have definitely withstood the test of time and were some of the earliest movies that really defined the style of animation that Ufotable has become known for nowadays. The woman, Touka, that Rin and Sakura pass in the alleyway on the way to the shop with the mannequin is a character from Kara no Kyoukai, although she appears in other works in the Nasuverse as well. She is known for being a master at crafting dolls who can even make them indistinguishable from humans. As for Shirou's soul taking on a physical manifestation prior to being placed in the doll, that was the Third Magic that Illya performed. They talked about the Third Magic when they were explaining the creation of the grail, the 3 families, and Zelritch.
@@nameless8789 They watched Garden of Sinners YEARS ago, but it was never a reaction on the channel. I really do hope they consider reacting to Strange/Fake once that comes out next month, though. 👌
The way Shiro got a body is because of Aozaki Touko from the Garden Of Sinners you could see her walking away from where that doll of shirou was If you remember she gave Ryougi Shiki a new arm so for Shirou all she had to do is put his soul in the doll.
It still hits me, at the very end, when Shirou finally screams at the top of his lungs that he wants to live. Throughout all the routes, he's constantly throwing his life away for nothing, and sees no value in his own life beyond using it as a means of upholding Kiritsugu's dream. And here at the end of the final route, he finally realizes that at his core when not weighed down by self-torment, he wants to live. It's such a powerful yet understated moment. It feels like the resolution cutting through the very core of his trauma and moving past it, admitting that he wants to keep living.
Agreed. Perfect closure to the series. That said, it's a bit different in the VN since it's implied his need to live isn't for self preservation but because "Sakura would be sad if I died" So not a complete restoration of his PTSD but still, great character development
You shouldn't think of it as the final route they're all simultaneous. Heavens feel shirou isn't a more developed character than say UBW and just because it's the 'final' route doesn't mean it's the correct ending to shirous character. All the routes are equally valid
Definitely doesn't throw his life away for nothing or sees no value in his own life beyond using it as a means of upholding Kiritsugu's dream, it definitely starts that way for all the routes but he comes to different conclusions about how he wants to live his life in each route and accepts the various sacrifices he must make in order to gain genuine happiness and understand where his faults lie. Having said that, I also love this scene.
@@Vid_21 I get what you're trying to say, and in a sense, I agree: All Shiro's are valid and I love them all. Though not equally. Because I'm biased, UBW Shiro is my favorite. The Fate route was good. After I completed it I thought to myself "I see why this VN is so well-regarded". After UBW, I _knew_ why it was held in such a high acclaim. Heaven's Feel was the gut punch I didn't see coming even though I was expecting it. UBW is still my favorite because it was the route that made me fall in love with the Fate series, but Heaven's Feel was by far the most emotional for me. The fights. The character development. The conclusion. UBW is my favorite route, but I think Heaven's Feel is objectively the best route. Truthfully, it's not even a fair comparison, HF has the benefit of going last. It's able to build upon everything that came before it and uses it to its advantage wonderfully. After getting to know the self-sacrificial suicidal baka Shiro from the first two routes, seeing HF Shiro slowly start to change and become more selfish was a type of catharsis I never expected and didn't know how much I needed.
Your question about Makiri was a good one. And it demands another Fate fun fact. In the main fate timeline, there are three characters who are namely described as Heroes of Justice. Kiritsugu, Emiya (and to a certain extent UBW Shirou) and surprisingly? Zouken (Real name Zolgen Makiri). Zouken's wish was Utopia for humanity. He wanted to dedicate his life to saving all humans from pain, war, illness and hardships of any kind. The grail war was his best shot at that, together with the Einzberns and the Tohsakas. So much so that, while he eventually fell in love with the Einzbern's first homunculus, he sat by and watch her die so that they could obtain their shared dream for Utopia, cementing him as a hero of justice willing to sacrifice the few to save the many. However, they failed to reach the greater grail. And it became clear to him that they would never be able to achieve their dream within their limited lifetime. So in order to ensure that he obtained the dream of Utopia that he and his comrades dreamed of, he sought various ways of prolonging his life. He didn't want to, at first. Especially when the most efficient way of prolonging his life became consuming other people's life force. But sacrifice the few to save the many, right? The dream of Utopia was all that was keeping him sane, despite having to commit such atrocities. But in the end, Zouken had lived for so long, failed so many times and consumed so many lives that his mind began to deteriorate. As of Fate/Zero, Zouken's mind was more or less lost and he couldn't remember WHY he was trying to prolong his life. He only felt an intense fear of death and this strong drive to continue living for *something*. And it's only in Heaven's Feel, in his dying moments, that he finally remembered. Just in time to realize that he'd failed them all. Humanity will never reach Utopia and all those lives lost in the pursuit were for nothing.
Yeah and he was literally rotting alive so the pain of that is also what made him insane, and he needed Heaven's feel becuase his soul was reaching it's limit.
"Humanity will never reach Utopia and all those lives lost in the pursuit were for nothing." Well, not exactly. As he dies, he realizes that humanity will still reach that utopia, it's just that it will take a very long time. In the end, he laughs at himself, seeing his younger self as naive for thinking that his utopia could be reached so quickly. Nonetheless, he dies with confidence in humanity's future.
And this is why I like Zouken more than Tokiomi. We actually see some of his humanity. Unlike Tokiomi who is just THE worst parent in the entire series, and arguably one of the worst parents in all of fiction. Yes, I would put him almost on par with Gendou Ikari in that respect. That is how much hate and vitriol I have for that man. The only good thing he ever did was die by Kirei's hands.
@@colt1903 ok, this is ignorant. In the fate zero, they make it pretty clear that Tokiomi cares for his life and even wanted to give them a choice of not to choose magecraft
Great reaction, I loved these movies when I watched them so i'm glad that yall enjoyed them as well. As for your questions about what the deal was with Shirou's soul and the doll at the end, I think I have a bit of an explanation with my own Fate knowledge. So you were correct on that in his current body as it was, Shirou would have died cuz using Archers arm just turns his brain to jelly and pierces him with swords. You can see in moments at the end when he forgets peoples names when talking to them like Illya and Rider. So what Illya does at the end, is use the Third Magic on Shirou in the process of destroying the grail. Earlier in the movie, the Third Magic is described as "Heavens Feel" aka "The Materialization of the Soul". What it does is remove the human soul from the body, making it its own entity that is unaging, and undying. This was always the true goal of the three original mage families as they wanted to use it on a global scale to rid humanity of evil by making them immortal, transcended beings who no longer need to pursue evil due to their new nature. So at the end of the movie, Sakura basically holds onto Shirou's soul until they can find a new body for it. The body they eventually find is a doll made a character named Touko Aozaki. (You actually see her for a split second when Rin and Sakura walk past her before they see the doll). She does not appear at any point in the mainline Fate/Stay Night series, and is most well known for her character being in the "Garden of Sinners" movies. If you haven't watched them I highly recommend it. They are also done by Ufotable and take place in the same universe as Fate, and focus less on Holy Grail War and more on weird mage, magecraft, and mystics. Anyways, Touko's dolls are basically identical to human bodies. Its one of her main powers as a mage. So, for the purposes of this movie without going to in-depth into her, the gang requisitions a doll from Touko to use as Shirous body. Sorry for the long explanation, but I think one of the most interesting things about Fate is how the answers for some things are found in the other shows or properties, encouraging you to seek them out.
Yes, you covered it very well! On that note, Touko Aozaki also appears in one of the most (if not THE most) visually stunning VNs called Mahoutsukai no Yoru. It recently got a remake with added voice acting, so reading it is honestly at this point almost like watching an anime. I highly recommend checking it out!
Great write up! Was hoping someone pointed it out since unfortunately it was one of the things that felt a bit left out due to the adaptation. Which is fair since if iirc you only really see that Ilya can do it during the Fate route during a bad ending or something haha.
So to try and explain the Shirou’s body vanishing thing at the end. When Illya asked “Do you want to live regardless the form your life will take?” it was basically asking if he’d be ok if his body vanished because Heaven’s Feel, the Third Magic, *materialises* the soul. His soul was then stuck in that cage after they retrieved him because he had no body to go back to. At the end where Sakura and Rin find the puppet, they had just walked past Touko Aozaki in the alleyway. She is one of the most brilliant Mages in the verse and her specialty is puppets. Not just any puppets, but puppets that can take on the properties of those that are connected to it. So when Shirou’s soul entered it, it took on his form.
1:25:40 This is legitimately the case, lol. In the VN, the only way to get the true ending (the one shown here in the movie) is to also spend enough time with Illya. An alternate ending happens if Illya's points aren't high enough.
@@kallistikaleid the VNs are so much fun because they play off of your knowledge of each playthrough. Like getting a "true ending" by having to play NG+ in a Persona game.
Sorry if you already know this. 間桐 桜(Matou Sakura) 桜(Sakura) means cherry blossoms. This movie was replayed in theaters in Japan in the spring when the cherry blossoms are in bloom.
The thing that makes me the angriest about this movie is that nothing is explained about Zelretch when the VN was the most information we ever had on him, so i'm gonna quickly make a small list of things that are explained in the novel and not in the movie: - Zelretch is a monster, physically and metaphorically. He's an immortal man that killed the Type Moon (aka Crimson Moon, aka father of all the Vampires) by killing parallel universes through mana drain using his True Magic. -He is the only user of the Second True Magic, which allows him observation and manipulation of forces in parallel universes, though his battle against Type Moon left him weakened so he can only watch other universe now, instead of manipulating them. He's also the master of Jewel Magecraft, something he created before achieving the Second True Magic -The Sword that Rin uses is one of his Mystic Codes (though a bargain bin version of the real one) and was left to the Tohsaka as a long term homework that they could work on for the next 10 to 15 generations. When used by Zelretch the sword doesn't have any drawback, when used by Rin, the Sword basically fries her muscles because of the high mana cost to use it -Zelretch is a very laid-back kind of guy, with a very "rule for thee, but not for me" kind of mentality. He likes to take up promising student of the Clock Tower to teach them his True Magic, but they all come back mindbroken by the infinite possibilities that they see when the Magic open their eyes to infinite parallel universes. When asked to stop, Zelretch responded with a "it is what it is" and didn't stop
@@colt1903 Iirc he doesn't exist in the Grand Order universe. If he did exist he would have appeared when the ORT got out in Lostbelt 7 since him and ORT aren't the best of friends and Zelretch actively tries to stop everyone from even thinking of awakening it (in the Strange Fake universe, Zelretch and Caubac Alcatraz, another immortal mage on par with Zelretch, are trying to blow up the False HGW from the inside because someone taking part in the war MIGHT be connected to ORT)
@@tvo770 Yeah, that's why i never said that he was. He fought Brunestud who was the father of all Vampire but he wasn't bitten by him so he never turned into one
Like a lot of people, i recommend strongly Kara no Kyoukai : The garden of Sinners which is good on its own. It's a movie series made in the same universe as fate. It is made by Ufotable and is also the series that basically gave them their reputation. The story is very good, even though you can feel the early writing of Kinoko Nasu (since it's one of his first works) is sometimes wonky, especially the order in which the story is told in the movies. Even with it's problems it's very enjoyable and easy to understand once you've watched everything. You enter the realm of the clock tower, magecraft, weird nasuverse shit and mystic eyes, which is a good ride overall.
OMG!!! Kara no Kyoulai is my favorite movie series of all time. And rarely see anyone react to it on RUclips. Really hope they will choose this one someday.~~~
I recommend keeping an eye on Ufotable's next movie Witch on the Holy Night. It's a VN by the same writer as Fate and in my opinion it's his best work in terms of writing. On another note, I think the movie didn't really do the Shirou vs Berserker fight justice but it would be really hard to adapt outside of a VN. That short fight that lasted only like a few seconds max had an entire chapter dedicated to it. What I really like about it is that dispite it being a very short fight in real time, mechanically there was a ton of stuff going on that the movie couldn't really show. It's a fight that can only truly be expressed through writing, which is why I love it so much.
I hope the mods tell you this. That blue haired guy was not an ancestor. That was Zouken, and the Einzbern female homunculus was his love. He was th eonly character considered a true hero among Kiritsugu and Shirou.
I'm just so happy our girl finally got a kinda happy end. If anyone needs a reason as to why this last fucked up route is better than UBW then it's because how Illya gets closure and the perfect send-off. I hate how she ended up in UBW, that was just the worst. Also, Shinji and Zouken both die in this route, so this makes this route by default the best one, lmao.
@@Jakokokoroko Zouken also regains his humanity before he dies, remembering his wish for Utopia. So, in a sense, this is actually a happy ending for him as well, funnily enough. Shinji... I think the only happy ending for Shinji is technically in the EXTRAverse. Basically, "get fucked SN Shinji, an 8 year old hacker version of you is actually a better character than you, lmao". Though, I object to this being a good route for Illya. If anything I'm almost tempted to argue it's the worst because it gives her everything that she deserves, and then takes it away from her by killing her at the end. That's not a happy ending, that's just depressing 😂 I want a real Illya route. She deserves a true happy ending, damn it!
This is explained more in depth in the visual novel, but in the Shirou vs Herc fight, Shirou used Archer's arm data base(UBW) to fully analyze the legend and abilities of Herc, the little slide show were the tasks completed by Herc. This Shirou can't materialise UBW, instead he projected Herc's weapon and replicated his fighting abilities and techniques. "Nine lives" is one of Herc's Noble Phantasms.
I totally agree with what you guys were saying at the beginning of the discussion. Heaven's feel little bits of world building really opened up the world for me after this third movie. I started playing the VNs, starting with Tsukihime and fell deep into the Nasuverse rabbit hole. It's just so much bigger and detailed. Fate/Stay night scratches the surface just enough so that the juices seep out and you can have a little taste. That is why it's my favorite fate/sn route by a long shot, because it adds these extra bits of lore on top of an already detailed good story with detailed and good characters that have their own complex contexts, and another reason is also that Shirou rejects his ideals in contrast with UBW like Caleb's friend said, that played a big part. Like Caleb said, it gives you that taste of true ending, showing the truth about the war, in the movies compared to the anime adaptation of the other routes. And finally, If anyone felt the same way after watching this movie and wants to jump into nasuverse,, this is the reddit comment that I used to start on these Visual Novels: "Tsukihime -> Tsukihime Plus-Disc -> Kagetsu Tohya -> Melty Blood 1 through 4" Then, "Fate/Stay night -> Hollow Ataraxia -> the rest." From other comments, you could also play, vns: Tsukihime, Fate/Stay Night, Mahoutsukai no Yoru, Angel Notes and watch the Kara no Kyoukai movies in-between to change it up a bit, all that as basis for everything else on the nasuverse, and then continue to play the rest. But the first one is more streamlined. Looks intimidating, but you can also look at it like this. Instead of thinking how big the road is, try and enjoy just the one VN as its own thing for what it is. Only Tsukihime or FateSN. From then on, if you enjoyed, you'll naturally decide on if you want to play other VNs or not and if it's for you or not. Don't go into it thinking you'll dive deep into a bottomless ocean of those juices that seeped through the HF scratches just to drown yourself. Think that'll actually just get a bottle of that so you can drink it whenever you want, without drowning. Sorry if I dragged on too much, I'm that cringe new fan that just recently discovered all these amazing new things and now can't stop talking about it so everyone else also sees it. The recently converted ... yeah. Yes, best timeline// Anyway, THIS IS CINEMA!
Yeah you need some Kara no Kyoukai knowlege for the ending bit. The person with red hair did make the Shiro Doll where they put his Soul which Illya extracted (Like she said the Einzberns True magic was Soul related)
Attack that Shirou used against Berserker was a move that Heracles himself used to slay Hydra, which one of his labors, by destroying all of it`s heads at once. It`s full name is Nine Lives Blade Works: Slayer of One-Hundred Headed. Original attack was performed with bow, but Heracles later adapted this move to his other weapons. It`s a series of superfast attacks at vital points of the target, and can have up to 100 strikes.
Imo Rider vs Alt Saber is ufotable best fight scene. Rider managing to hold her own against Saber, Shirou's Rho Aias, and the music just takes it to a whole nother level.
"Kirei's taken a note from Emiya's book and has things like flamethrowers and rocket launchers". Funny you should say that. Let me tell you about a certain man who lived in Russia long ago...
I'm sure there will be some people in the comments who can fill you both in on the missing gaps, because after all it is a movie adaptation so there were bound to be things cut out. As always, the visual novel is the best way to go to get the depth of the story, but I appreciate the spectacle of the movie. If there is a word stronger than orgasmic, I would use that to describe how it feels to watch the saber alter vs rider fight haha. My main gripe with the movie would be how the kirei vs shirou section was handled since it really is extremely well written how good of an antagonist kirei is for shirou but it is extremely enjoyable regardless. Also idk if you guys plan on watching movies beyond the ones in the poll in the future, but I would definitely recommend Kara no Kyoukai series! It would help give context to the ending and Shirou's body. Oh also you probably do not want to experience the other ending 😥
@@jacklee3998 Nah man, the other endings are the best things to experience. Who in their right minds plays the Fate/Stay Night VN without Tiger Dojos!? Lol
the fight was one of the best pieces of animation i've seen period. the movements, you can feel the power behind them, from the sakuga technique to the sound design, everything is a 10/10. i'd love to be able to meet the ones who made that scene and ask them how did they get to where they did to be able to create such a thing so perfectly.
Those comments about Saber and her route at the end were just... Not sure. I don't think I've heard you guys being this mean to something before. How can you even say "I adore Saber" but then mock her route? That's her story.
Did they even experience her route yet? I am surprised on their comments when fate route has a lot of my favorite moments of the entire vn and I know they haven't read that
@@JoJo-is6bv it really isn't that bad, i just rewatched it recently and only the Caster arc that tries to cram in UBW and HF stuff is pretty bad, in terms of music and characters it far surpasses anything ufotable has done for the franchise, it's overall atmosphere far more fits Stay Night
For the time the route came was a very good anime, expect the caster part that tries to get Sakura inside in that route all the servants got his opportunity to shine except lancer that his fight against Gilgamesh was skip, but the best thing was Ilya survival
@@GBlockbreaker It is bad indeed and I re watched it last year because my cousin was catching up on everything Fate. It's by far the lest enjoyable route, just my opinion of course. No character was particularly enjoyable and the poor decision is some of the dialogues were borderline hilarious.
Fun fact: the only reason rider was able to go through Excalibur without getting vaporized was because there was still a little piece of Rho Aise in front of her. You can only notice that detail when you look at the video behind the animation making of the movie.
I always liked to think that the initial impact of Saber's Excalibur is what cause the most damage and/or straight up kill anything that impacted, but manage to somehow tank the initial impact, which Shirou did with Rho Aias, and then the only thing you need is something powerful enough to push back the energy beam of Excalibur, like Rider's Bellerophon, and just like that you can beat Saber's noble phantams.
After watching this movie i feel in love with Medusa (Rider) especially that bellerophon Noble phantasm of hers My Favorite servant in fate besides Artoria (Saber) i love Sakura as well Overall a Masterpiece!
In the scene closer to the finale, the doll in the box belongs to Touko Aozaki, the red-haired woman seen earlier. She is a character from the same universe, but featured in the anime Kara no Kyoukai.
These movies are a visual masterpiece, but the run time causing the Illya and Kirei content to be cut short is always a shortfall. Particularly the Illya stuff. Her exit is always sad, but without a lot of the bonding, it just doesn't hit as hard.
Did they skip sabers route? Based on some of their reactions it seems like they have some kind of idea about it that made them not do it? It's a shame. It honestly has some of my favorite elements of the entire fate stay night story. Do they have any plans to read the visual novel? If you guys ever have plans to read the vn, for my money Arturias character gets by far the best development there and you will finally understand her character and why she even exists in this story. In addition its my favorite romance in the story by far as well. There are some akward moments, and takes a bit of time to get going, but by the end it has tons of heart and is actually a very strong inversion of the heavens feels thematic ideal which makes it very memorable and just as important to the route as sakuras contribution.
@@GBlockbreaker Hey, let's not gatekeep who can and cannot call themselves a fan of something. It's fine to not know everything in Fate and still absolutely be a fan.
Yeah this is the main problem with the Ufotable adaptations of Fate, they only get 2/3 of the full story, thinking that they get Saber's full character with Zero and her conclusion with UBW (or HF) when her true resolution lies in the deen adaptation that everybody avoids
I love these movies and their character work, especially for Sakura who I personally think is the best female character in the main routes (+ Zero), and it's so nice to see you appreciate them so much, but I still have 2 very specific problems with this final of the 3 movies: 1) While undoubtedly and undeniably a visual spectacle to say the least, to me the fights in this - especially Saber Alter vs Rider - would benefit from using much less flashy visuals because quite honestly I like to know what's going on in my fights without having to watch them multiple times to even remotely make out what is happening on screen because it's all just vibrant moving colors. And unfortunately, that seems to have become a trend with a lot of Ufotable's recent adaptations and I just wish they would reduce that somewhat again 2) After all the hype surrounding the final fight between Kirei and Shirou that I've been exposed to before having watched the movie, I expected something on the same level as Fate Zero's Kirei vs Kiritsugu in terms of both ideology and choreography and couldn't help but be disappointed by the actual presentation here. It's not bäd by any means, it's just that I expected a bit more. So with this, the second movie is still my favorite of the bunch Heavily shortened explanation of what happened there at the end and why Shirou is still alive is basically that Ilya used Third Magic to preserve his soul and they put it into a puppet body built by Touka Aozaki, a character from Kara no Kyoukai who specializes in this kind of stuff. Please do yourself a favor and watch those movies too, they are exceptionally well written and directed, with awesome characters; imo even slightly better than Heaven‘s Feel
A bit late but those memories shirou saw isn't his own/future memories, it's Heracles' 12 Labors and what he copies is Heracles' 9 lives noble phantsm which he used to kill the hydra by using an attack that simultaneously kills its heads at the same time so it doesn't regenerate.
I got to watch this in Theater when it released. I don't think I'll ever get to see a more beautifully animated movie/show than this. Some come close but Fate is a masterpiece
Feels good to have the bros appreciate this route as much as it deserves... On the other hand, they still are totally under the impression that the Saber/Artoria route is weird and stupid and maybe even gross..well, it is what it is....Cant entirely blame them, I guess, since almost every anime only watched the prequel story first and a good and accurate adaptation of the Fate route doesnt exist....as long as it remains so, anime onlies are just fucked, lol...
@@ShinJack_ Definitely did not read, apparently watched a couple episodes of Deen/stay night. I guess all one can do is pray to the anime gods that some day Ufotable makes one more fate that actually works as an introduction, so the 2006 anime can be left behind as a relic...Wild to think about the fact that things ended up this way, sooo many people dont get to experience the first third, where the story ACTUALLY STARTS! Its about time that Fate was made just a little bit easier to get into for the anime community, damnit.....
@@esavalila576 Imagine the potential, If the fate route adapted at least decently. I still remember how confused I am when the first time reading the VN
I haven't seen anyone yet talk about Kischur Motherfuckign Zelretch Schweinorg, and you guys have GOT to know what a wild character he is. He is arguably the most important side character in the whole damn setting. He is a several thousand year old Dead Apostle (a vampire basically) and he specifically became one when he fought off the Moon when it made a deal with Gaia to crash into the earth and wipe out humanity. This is because in this setting Vampires are from the Moon. No, I will not elaborate. He is also, notably, a very high ranking Dead Apostle, the #3(or 4) ranked Dead Apostle Ancestor, which would take me a whole thesis to describe, but in basic terms this means he's one of 27 vampires capable of reviving the Moon. I think (the wiki's really unclear on this). He is also one of only two known living masters of True Magic in the setting, his magic being the Kaleidescope, or the Operation of Parallel Worlds. For reference, the Heaven's Feel which is the whole goal of the Grail War is another True Magic, and there are only five in total. He's taken on many apprentices (all of whom went insane trying to figure out how his magic works) and the only one who didn't was Rin's ancestor which is why she's able to use jewel magecraft. He also apparently studied under King Solomon back in the Age of the Gods and personally witnessed its end. He'd go on to found the Clocktower (the place Rin and Shirou went to at the end of UBW) in the 6th century after rallying (beating them over the head until they listened) the remaining mages in his fight against the Crimson Moon. And he only gets, like, maybe a dozen mentions throughout the rest of the author's works. He's arguably the most powerful 'good guy' in the setting and he's such a goddamn enigma. The dude just shows up randomly without warning and you gotta accept that hey, here's Zelretch again! Wonder what lovecraftian secrets of the world we'll learn today!
1:19:35 on the contrary, this happens because of the different ideologies of shirou and archer. UBW isnt compatible with his current self which makes the sword in UBW to come out of his body. Its destroying him inside every time he does a projection heaven's feel is a true magic that can manifest soul physically. That mannequin at the end is a whole another discussion that will be explained in Kara no Kyoukai 😁. but basically its no different than any other human mortal body, they just have to put a soul on it
FYI the 4th man present for the original summoning of the grail, Zelritch, isn't from the Church. The church weren't brought in to observe the holy grail wars until the 3rd war. Because after the 2nd war they decided they need more concrete rules and a 3rd party observer to make sure they are upheld. Zelritch on the other hand is one of the founders of the Mage's Association and the teacher of the Tohsaka involved in the creating of the grail wars. He is the immortal user of the 2nd True Magic, which makes others call him a Magician rather than a Mage (though he does still know magecraft and is considered the father of jewel magecraft the Tohsaka use). There are only 5 true magics in modern day and only one person can use each one at a time. Heaven's Feel is the 3rd magic and was discovered/ invented by an ancestor of the Eninzbern during the age of gods but has since been lost. A partial version of it was used for the grail. Illya also uses a partial version of it to save shirou's soul at the end of this movie. This soul is later placed in a puppet body made by KnK character Touko Aowzaki who is shown to walk past rin and sakura in the alley at the end of the movie. Zelritch is also an important character in the lore of sister series Tsukhime. The details of his legendary battle with Crimson Moon is one of the main divergence points between the fate timelines and Tsukihime timelines.
He's not misguided. He knows that his path is morally abhorrent. It's just that he's incapable of finding joy in any other way. Living in any other way is just torture to him.
It was pretty small on the face of everything else in the movie, but the Rin thing about being buried was a lot more simple, not sure why the movie cut it off so much. The estate is Tohsaka soil, and it is connected to the leylines of the city. Burying Rin there was meant to be a way to help her recover. Especially since Crests already try to keep a Magi alive as much as possible, plus helping them recover.
there may be people who do not understand the ending, but what happens is that a magician who is from another story of the universe of fate (expert in recreating puppets equal to bodies) takes the soul of shirou that materialized with the third magic or heavens feels that yllia used to save his soul, this was introduced into the doll and therefore it is as if it were the real one with emotions and everything.... to me this is the best route
Fate route is still worth watching, and yeah grail was created to achieve third magic which is called heaven's feel which is the is a magic that allows for the materialization of the soul but the ritual wasnt fully complete bcs illya was a homunucli but if she were fully successfull shirou would be practically immortal, in couple of bad endings shirou fought saber alter 1v1 and acctually won but in the end lost all mana and saber recoverd but he stilll solo defeated her and other ending was when illya wasnt there in the end so shirou had to project excalibur and the he trully died. In the fight with berserker shirou copied berserkers noble phantasm nine lives which are nine quick as fuck slashes funny enough he got nerfed in stay night bcs it was too broken but he uses it ni oder fate like grand order. Fun facts there is more than 8 classes in fate and the other ones which were skipped sadly in the movie the part when we see shirou suffering from usage of archers arm that he wanted to cut it off bcs of the pain and the other fun fact in visual novel rin and illya fought over who will be shirou master bcs he became demi-servant and you could choose which one you're willing to have as a master. So yeah in conclusion fate route with saber is still rly good but would be cool if ufotable would do a remake of it and rip to illya route oh yeah and kireis daughter is in hollow ataraxia with orginal lancer master and more stuff about angra manyu
The ending is explained that, in the VN they find a character from another one of Nasu's works, who helps them get a new body for Shirou. Shirou's soul was materialized when Illya used Heaven's Feel. They could have gone into more depths about it, instead of just hinting at it, and making it a bit confusing, but my personal opinion is that they did it on purpose, to give us a little of both endings. In another ending you can get in the VN, Shirou will die, and Sakura will simply live in delusion that Shirou is still alive, and no one has the heart to tell her. So, while they did go for the true ending, where Shirou is saved, the vagueness might have been so that people could interpret both endings as a possibility.
Recommend your Fate/strange Fake that may be released in July this year PV name is Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn, The production is A-1 Pictures retaining the comic style, The PV song is FAKEit by Sawano Hiroyuki, just watching the PV and music is looking forward to the arrival of July Sacrifice the false Holy Grail War to invoke the real Holy Grail War Alright... time to drive out the fakes?
The way Shiro revived at the end is very confusing to casual fans. I got it with the whole puppet being used as a host for Shiro’s soul and Aozaki’s tiny cameo. But it was extremely vague and badly explained. Several reactors are always left confused about it. Ufotable should’ve done some exposition or something for 30 seconds. Not every viewer is an avid visual novel/nasu-verse fan.
i would strongly urge you guys to either read the visual novel for the Fate route or at least watch the 06 anime, in terms of character writing, music and overall atmosphere it's by far the best of the Stay Night adaptations and the romance between Saber and Shirou is absolutely beautiful, probably my favorite romance in all of fiction, Deen's adaptation has a pretty bad reputation but honestly, the main negatives about it is them trying to cram a bit of Heaven's Feel and UBW into an arc and bloating it way beyond what it was supposed to be, also the animation is kinda sub par for the most par but honestly, i'd still take it over these movies any day of the week also one thing i noticed is you guys thinking Zero is a direct prequel which it isn't however, it takes place in a separate timeline from Stay Night and only depicts events that are mostly similar to what happened in Stay Night's 4th HGW
I'd recommend you watch Kara no Kyoukai - Garden of Sinners to get a proper explanation of what happened in the Epilogue. When I was watching this movie I couldn't believe how they ended this movie expecting you to know the plot and characters from Kara no Kyoukai - I didn't really know the two series are connected until the epilogue.
By the way, Illya's dress is better explained in the Visual Novels and it's quite the interesting and deep explanation, there's a big "what", "how" and "why" to that dress.
If nothing else, I love the fact that even altered in the way that she is, Saber is still an honorable knight at her core. She will not attack someone who has neither the ability or will to fight.
Love the reaction and lore disscutions,i actualy hope youll react to the "last episode" from vn aka epilouge/true end for saber route/final enfing you can see after getting all previous main endings(5 of them) and all bad ends(choosinh wrong choice in vn and seeing Shirou die or worse) then you can unlock "lasr episode" imo the most deserved, well written emotional final,i know that it would be odd just see ending from vn after watching all the animes but there is very little vhance of it being animated fully so i would really wish for you guys to see something that important and great before moving on from F:S/N,all the best for yall
So, the ending can be a bit confusing so let me explain it. Illya sacrificed herself to use the Grail and Materialized Shirou's soul so it could remain in the world. His body was destroyed but his soul remained. That body you saw them find in the crate was a fake body that a soul can be put into. The moment they put Shirou's soul into that doll, it transformed into a perfect copy of Shirou. It is like how when Zouken's insects attacked that girl in Movie 1. His soul overrode her dna and so the body shifted to match the soul, and since his soul was so old the body immediately started to rot. Shirou's soul does the same thing, just this way they did not need to kill anyone to get him a body. Also when Kirei attacked Zouken and prayed him away, he was actually using an exorcist technique to attack Zouken's spiritual body directly. As such he could no longer take physical form my sending his soul into other bodies with the insects. He was trapped inside the one insect his soul truly existed, the one inside Sakura. By the way, this last part is me being silly, but if Zouken was already inside Sakura... then does that mean Sakura and Shirou had a 3-way? I'll go now 😉
Your joke about Illya saving Shirou if you got Enough points with her is unironically true (in the normal End Shirou dies and destroys Angry mango, but he dies and Sakura stays alone) Also, You guys are right the Vn had more time for the Romance, Character interactions and development For example kirei and illya had more Screen time In The Vn than in the Movie I personally hope that you'll check out the kara no kyoukai movies They are a series of Movies that take place In the nasuverse and they share the same writer as Fsn, Tsukihime and Mahoyo I also Think that you guys would probably like mahoyo (I think that the mahoyo Vn is nasu's best work till now) Hope that you guys will check it out when it comes
Fun lore fact, "Nine Lives Blade Works" wasn't just Shirou creating Hercules weapon, he actually copied his true, ultimate Noble Phantasm completely (as a Berserker he doesn't have the mental capabilities to perform a high level technique, if he were another class he might've had his strongest technique. at the cost of 1 rank lower in all his stats (except NP ofc, which would go up).
Archer Herc is the strongest and he has 9 different np in that form. However yes what you said was true if he was something like a Saber or Lancer he would be able to use this attack.
Imagine an alternate scenario where Kirei Kotomine won against Shirou and got to ask for his wish: Kirei: "What is my purpose?" A drunk being answers: "You pass butter." Kirei: "Oh my god!" Drunken being: "Yeah, welcome to the club, pal."
I know some people prefer Rin as Shirou's waifu bae, but Heaven's Feel will always be my favorite route not just for it having the most focus on Ilya, as much as it could, anyway, but also for how it demonstrates the parallel that was made in Fate/Zero between Kiritsugu's being tasked with sacrifcing Iri to save the world and Shirou's being tasked with sacrificing Sakura for the same reason. I like to think that Kiritsugu would be happy knowing his son chose happiness and the harder path for that happiness rather than fall into the miserable spiral of killing the few to save the many that he did. I also like to think to think that Ilya and Iri go meet up with Kiritsugu after and they all go out to Ahnenerbe after, but that's just me. Apart from that, this wraps things up nicely. I'm only sad that it's over, at least for the main Fate storylines.
There's always the chance we get the Illya route we never got, she was intended to have a route originally but it was cut due to time and budget as the og VN was an indie project.
44:54 BRO THAT WAS THE SAME REACTION I HAD WHILE READING THE VISUAL NOVEL LMAOOOOO It was so fucking HYPE and HAPPY that I couldn't stop smiling! Like, "FUUUUCK this makes so much sense and they don't even need to explain it because we already know what it does!!!" 😂
Im exited to see SOS bros react on Kara no Kyoukai and Mahoutsukai no Yoru movie(s) then, seeing how they loved Ufotable's Type-Moon (Nasuverse) adaptations plus the fact of it being kinda the best Nasu works written to this day.
1:02:28 Yes and not only that but also the fact that some scenes are originally different from adaptations depictions. Like some with very important elements are partly cut out from adaptations (Directors have its own ideas and many fans have different views on it too). Which is why F/SN and in HF route case especially the experience only whole when you read the VN, seen the adaptations aka Movies and read amazing HF manga by Task Ohna.
Since it was mentioned in a couple other comments, if you find the desire to watch the Kara no Kyoukai film series, I will definitely be buying your full-length patreon perks to join you on your journey through those movies.
IIRC, right before Illya shows up in the end, when Shirou asks himself "Is this the end?" you got a choice to wait a bit or just make final projection and destroy the Grail by himself (with himself). Or, if you failed to build relationship with Illya, that will be your only choice. That`s normal ending. Another ending that worth to be mentioned is if you fail to convince Rider that you`re on Sakura`s side, you`ll ended up one on one with Saber in an actual swordfight. Result can be described as "won the battle, but lost the war". It`s High Liner Sparks bad ending.
The Jeweled Sword is pretty much one of the most overpowered weapons out there, it's effectively a powerful Noble Phantasm that also gives you infinite MP, which allows you to spam it as much as you like. It's not much different than what Saber Alter was doing in this trillogy, spamming Excalibur as much as she wanted all the time thanks to having mana to spare since she's getting supplied by the Grail itself.
You should Watch the Garden of sinners because you can understand the last part of the movies. And the last person rin and sakura past is one of the mane characters of The Garden of sinners.
The trilogy has ended! What a journey. Loved your reaction and discussion of all three movies! Their are some lore info you might have missed or need some confirmation. In the Shiro vs Berserker fight, the fast passing image was Shiro tracing the past life of Berserker, aka Hercules. Therefore Shiro was able to conjure Berserker's noble phantasm. In the flashback of how the Holy rail stared, the blue hair guy called Makiri is Matou Zoken himself. He is the founder of the Matou family. To achieve his goal he expanded his life, and over the course of time, this goal shifted to expanding his life. By focusing on the means he lost the original reason why he was even focusing that for. There is another person who is present in the flashback calling himself 'Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg'. He is not from the church, infact he is the mage who actually reached the root. You could say he is the watchman of the type-moon universe, since his magic allows him to interact with the parallel worlds. And you understood this well about the final magic Illya preformed, Heavens's feel, the magic to materialize the soul. By the destruction of the gail, Shiro's body was gone but Illya managed to materialize the soul and it was preserved in the red jem. And later Rin and Sakura found the doll that the soul could be attached. Their is a easter egg of a sertent stranger who went pass the sisters before they find the doll. She is a doll mage in other type-moon seires 'The Garden of Sinners'. These kind of scenes make me really agree your comment of how they have some lack of explanation so if you want to you could go search up the lore and find out other related series and fall into the rabbit hole like me. You guys said there would be no more fate related content in the channel, but I really hope you to check out the Fate/Strange Fake that will release this year! It's another alternate time line, but whats spacial about this Fate is it's an alternate timeline of the aftermath of fate/stay night. And its written by the same author of Baccano too. If its not in the channel and have no reaction for us viewers, still check it out on your own time! unfortunately it's not adapted by ufotable, but the animation of the 10min trailer was enough to satisfy me.
@@FlubbedPig No. The VN version of that entire scene is like a good 5 minutes long and actually makes more sense rather then coming across as random and somewhat pointless.
I got massive nico robin vibes from Shirou's i want to live! Weirdly never picked up on that before seeing it now again, funny since the vn i think predates that scene from the one piece manga by a few years.
About doll body. Heavens Feel True Magic has nothing to do with physical bodies. It allows to manifistate the soul, which what happined with Shirou. Rin and Sakura spent a ton of time and money to find puppet master, quite famous and infamous at the same time, who makes prostetic limbs and entire bodies that works basically as well as real ones. And because of that, when Shirou`s soul was put inside of it, soul changed new vessel to form of original body it was taken. IIRC, it was mentioned that process wasn`t completely perfect, but it`s nothing critical. Shirou got full-functioned body, that can even perform magecraft. It`s fake, but when issues like that ever stopped him?)
I'm always bewildered by this movie, it's absolutely amazing-- a goddamn masterpiece that encompasses the beauty of being the perfect grand finale to the story of Fate Stay Night's story and themes, and the story of Emiya Shirou. And yet, I and many others agree that compared to the Visual Novel, this Movie still feels a bit disappointing. That's not to say we dislike it-- quite the opposite; these Movies were basically perfection and exactly how they should've been done when adapted to film, Fate's a story that much of it's beauty comes in just how much of it there is to tell, and how much is being told-- that's something which doesn't reflect well into cinematics. But if there's just one thing I wish they included at the end, Just one line from Shirou One thing from 'that scene': "I... Really like, Kotomine Kirei." The final fight of Heaven's Feel, is the moment where you get to see the True Zenith of both Shirou and Kirei's characters: Both of their lives are already over-- their just on borrowed time, and now, both of them are simply fighting because they want to... and that's all. Maybe they brought over none of the monologue, cause words could do the beauty of that scene from the novel no justice. "I... Like Kotomine Kirei."
Ok, we really need a good adaptation of Fate route (aka Saber's route) so the bros could forget the horrible adaptation of Deen's. Cause I won't stand about the slander of saber's route
Allow me to help you with your next step on the Fate Stay Night watch order. The next thing you need to see: Fate/Stay Night OP - "Brave Shine", but it's all Kotomine Kirei (AMV)
Uzui vs gyutaro or Alter saber vs Rider? I'll pick alter saber vs rider as it was goddamn cinematic in cinema Please react to Garden of Sinners as it was an important part to understand the ending of spring song. And has hell of animation too.
Damn, really hope someone can convince them to watch Babylonia. As someone who's read the VN back in 2006 after seeing the Deen adaptation, and then every new entry of Fate to come out since then, Babylonia is my favorite of them all. The main FSN story is incredible, with truly great character arcs and establishes so much lore, but it does feel like a cage. You've learned all of this really interesting world building lore and magic systems, but it can only revolve around these few characters in this branching story, and then it just ends. FGO is where they can really stretch their wings and finally utilize more of the magic systems, and introduce us to new servants and settings outside of the basic Holy Grail War setup. As a history and mythology buff, it's wonderful to see Fate's take on more legends and mythical figures. FGO has a One Piece type setup where each Singularity(Island) is able to tell it's own story, while still building the overarching plot and character arcs throughout. Some are darker, some are more fun, playing with all sorts of different genres of storytelling. Babylonia is still my favorite, even as the main story has continued into its later acts. I love that cast and I deeply appreciate the fun and comedic aspects of it that are so very rare in the FSN adaptations. For me, it gives much more weight to the serious moments, seeing these characters that I've laughed with, be faced with mortal danger. Also, having Gil on the team always guarantees a great time. Regardless.... Thank you for these reactions! You guys are superb reactors and really take the time to engage with the works. In terms of the Heaven's Feel movies, as you suspect, there is a lot more explained in the VN. The Illya and Kirei storylines do not get much screentime here ,so they don't feel nearly as impactful as Sakura's arc. Kirei and Shirou's stories have been building throughout all 3 routes and this final standoff and realization of who they each are at their core's is truly great. Shirou's "I want to live" scene of him overcoming his survivor's guilt at the end of this movie is much more significant in the VN. They don't spend much time on it in these adaptations. His hero complex of saving everyone is masking his immense survivor's guilt from surviving the Fuyuki Fire at the end of Fate/Zero. It's briefly mentioned here and there in the anime, but it's a huge deal in the VN. The movies also don't have much time to really explain how incredibly damaged Shirou's mind is from using Archer's arm. The scene here where he finally remembers Illya's name and says it over and over feels a bit odd or over the top in the movie, but it was a big moment in the VN with much more buildup to it. I vaguely recall one of you mentioning that you've watched Garden of Sinners, if so, take a closer look at who walked past Sakura and Rin at the end right before they got the puppet. That's all I've got off the top of my head. Thanks again for these reactions! Hope one day you do come around to watching FGO: Babylonia.
It's a bit disappointing that they apparently won't be watching any more fate on this channel, another channel I follow took the undertaking of watching all of fate and it's a blast, especially since they got into FGO
Okay this movie was a technical feat of mastery! Another Fate route secured! Which movie was your favorite?

I'm pretty sure the guy with the purple hair in the flashback was Zouken
Are you guys going to watch more Fate
It still hits me, at the very end, when Shirou finally screams at the top of his lungs that he wants to live. Throughout all the routes, he's constantly throwing his life away for nothing, and sees no value in his own life beyond using it as a means of upholding Kiritsugu's dream. And here at the end of the final route, he finally realizes that at his core when not weighed down by self-torment, he wants to live. It's such a powerful yet understated moment. It feels like the resolution cutting through the very core of his trauma and moving past it, admitting that he wants to keep living.
Agreed. Perfect closure to the series.
That said, it's a bit different in the VN since it's implied his need to live isn't for self preservation but because "Sakura would be sad if I died"
So not a complete restoration of his PTSD but still, great character development
You shouldn't think of it as the final route they're all simultaneous. Heavens feel shirou isn't a more developed character than say UBW and just because it's the 'final' route doesn't mean it's the correct ending to shirous character. All the routes are equally valid
@@Vid_21 I mean Nasu is the one who says HF is the conclusion to Shirou's character journey
"Humanity will never reach Utopia and all those lives lost in the pursuit were for nothing."
Well, not exactly.
I hope the mods tell them this.
@@mikebelovich6753 that one's also getting an anime adaptation this year!
Great write up! Was hoping someone pointed it out since unfortunately it was one of the things that felt a bit left out due to the adaptation. Which is fair since if iirc you only really see that Ilya can do it during the Fate route during a bad ending or something haha.
@@mikebelovich6753Touko also appears in Lord El Melloi case files if I'm not mistaken.
So was Third Magic supposed to attain similar results to Kirschtaria Wodime's plan with the Olympians in Fate/Grand Order?
That’s our GOAT Touko-san!! 😮💨
Also if the bros are reading this. Touko is one of the main characters in Kara no Kyoukai and that other Nasu VN.
1:25:40
This is legitimately the case, lol. In the VN, the only way to get the true ending (the one shown here in the movie) is to also spend enough time with Illya. An alternate ending happens if Illya's points aren't high enough.
These kinds of comments make me feel like I will not be fulfilled until I play the VNs.
@@kallistikaleid the VNs are so much fun because they play off of your knowledge of each playthrough. Like getting a "true ending" by having to play NG+ in a Persona game.
Sorry if you already know this.
間桐 桜(Matou Sakura)
桜(Sakura) means cherry blossoms.
This movie was replayed in theaters in Japan in the spring when the cherry blossoms are in bloom.
The thing that makes me the angriest about this movie is that nothing is explained about Zelretch when the VN was the most information we ever had on him, so i'm gonna quickly make a small list of things that are explained in the novel and not in the movie:
- Zelretch is a monster, physically and metaphorically.
He's also the master of Jewel Magecraft, something he created before achieving the Second True Magic
-The Sword that Rin uses is one of his Mystic Codes (though a bargain bin version of the real one) and was left to the Tohsaka as a long term homework that they could work on for the next 10 to 15 generations. When used by Zelretch the sword doesn't have any drawback, when used by Rin, the Sword basically fries her muscles because of the high mana cost to use it
-Zelretch is a very laid-back kind of guy, with a very "rule for thee, but not for me" kind of mentality. He likes to take up promising student of the Clock Tower to teach them his True Magic, but they all come back mindbroken by the infinite possibilities that they see when the Magic open their eyes to infinite parallel universes. When asked to stop, Zelretch responded with a "it is what it is" and didn't stop
This is a badass comment, my dude.
Man should take Wodime under his wing
@@colt1903 Iirc he doesn't exist in the Grand Order universe.
That's getting a movie??? OH HELL YEA
Is this Witch of the Holy Night canon part of the Nasu-Verse or just written by Nasu?
@@datzfatz2368 Yes, it centers on finding the true magic which makes it connected to the rest of the Nasuverse.
@@datzfatz2368 it is the prequel to tsukihime, although a version of the same thing still happens in fate timelines
@@TheWinterPhoenix neat^^ i hadnt heard of that one yet. Ill check it out thanks guys^^
I hope the mods tell you this. That blue haired guy was not an ancestor. That was Zouken, and the Einzbern female homunculus was his love. He was th eonly character considered a true hero among Kiritsugu and Shirou.
no matter how many times i watch the illya scene it always brings me to fucking tears.
Same.
That's not a happy ending, that's just depressing 😂
I want a real Illya route. She deserves a true happy ending, damn it!
@@colt1903 She deserves to join Shirou's harem 👀
Your reaction to Shirou pulling out Rulebreaker did not disappoint. I swear I haven’t seen you that hyped in a long time xD
The pretext of "Saber route? Just no..." is clearly for someone that entered into Fate by Fate Zero lmao
And finally, If anyone felt the same way after watching this movie and wants to jump into nasuverse,, this is the reddit comment that I used to start on these Visual Novels:
"Tsukihime -> Tsukihime Plus-Disc -> Kagetsu Tohya -> Melty Blood 1 through 4"
Then, "Fate/Stay night -> Hollow Ataraxia -> the rest."
From other comments, you could also play, vns: Tsukihime, Fate/Stay Night, Mahoutsukai no Yoru, Angel Notes and watch the Kara no Kyoukai movies in-between to change it up a bit, all that as basis for everything else on the nasuverse, and then continue to play the rest.
Nine lives BLADES works was used with a bow?? Of course, what else could I expect form Nasu-vesre archers🤣
Imo Rider vs Alt Saber is ufotable best fight scene. Rider managing to hold her own against Saber, Shirou's Rho Aias, and the music just takes it to a whole nother level.
it's definitely the flashiest, I prefer the Gyataro vs Uzui round 2 personally though.
@Angra’s Advocate hate the story and characters, that's you. It won't change the fact that the fight was freaking amazing.
@Angra’s Advocate 800? Cute my guy, very cute. Try watching animes religiously since 1988....I would be surprised if I watched less than 1500 animes.
Imagine watching 1500 animes to like mid ass Kimetsu no Yaiba kek

Definitely my favorite Fate story line (I'm anime only).
Or at least the most emotionally taxing one ^^
"There's no Illya route-" and the monkey's paw curls another finger.
"Kirei's taken a note from Emiya's book and has things like flamethrowers and rocket launchers". Funny you should say that. Let me tell you about a certain man who lived in Russia long ago...

They are not ready for FGO lore yet, that hole is too deep
Oh also you probably do not want to experience the other ending 😥

the fight was one of the best pieces of animation i've seen period. the movements, you can feel the power behind them, from the sakuga technique to the sound design, everything is a 10/10. i'd love to be able to meet the ones who made that scene and ask them how did they get to where they did to be able to create such a thing so perfectly.
Those comments about Saber and her route at the end were just... Not sure. I don't think I've heard you guys being this mean to something before. How can you even say "I adore Saber" but then mock her route? That's her story.
Did they even experience her route yet? I am surprised on their comments when fate route has a lot of my favorite moments of the entire vn and I know they haven't read that
Maybe because of the Deen's adaptation. Because it's really really bad
Rho Aias can be seen when infront of Pegasus while he pushes through the blast. It has a noticeably different color from Excalibur.
After watching this movie
i feel in love with Medusa (Rider) especially that bellerophon Noble phantasm of hers
My Favorite servant in fate besides Artoria (Saber)
i love Sakura as well
Overall a Masterpiece!
There are some akward moments, and takes a bit of time to get going, but by the end it has tons of heart and is actually a very strong inversion of the heavens feels thematic ideal which makes it very memorable and just as important to the route as sakuras contribution.
they unfortunately only watched Zero, UBW and UBW Abridged so they don't really know what's going on despite calling themselves "Fate fans" lol
I also love the fate route specially because in that route Illya survives and spend her live with shirou and the others
@@GBlockbreaker Hey, let's not gatekeep who can and cannot call themselves a fan of something. It's fine to not know everything in Fate and still absolutely be a fan.
@@ontime9721 calling yourself a "fan" of something usually implies you have more than surface level interest in it
Yeah this is the main problem with the Ufotable adaptations of Fate, they only get 2/3 of the full story, thinking that they get Saber's full character with Zero and her conclusion with UBW (or HF) when her true resolution lies in the deen adaptation that everybody avoids
It really is just like Fate, to make the dagger of betrayal into a beautiful symbol of hope
I love these movies and their character work, especially for Sakura who I personally think is the best female character in the main routes (+ Zero), and it's so nice to see you appreciate them so much, but I still have 2 very specific problems with this final of the 3 movies:
1) While undoubtedly and undeniably a visual spectacle to say the least, to me the fights in this - especially Saber Alter vs Rider - would benefit from using much less flashy visuals because quite honestly I like to know what's going on in my fights without having to watch them multiple times to even remotely make out what is happening on screen because it's all just vibrant moving colors. And unfortunately, that seems to have become a trend with a lot of Ufotable's recent adaptations and I just wish they would reduce that somewhat again
2) After all the hype surrounding the final fight between Kirei and Shirou that I've been exposed to before having watched the movie, I expected something on the same level as Fate Zero's Kirei vs Kiritsugu in terms of both ideology and choreography and couldn't help but be disappointed by the actual presentation here. It's not bäd by any means, it's just that I expected a bit more.
So with this, the second movie is still my favorite of the bunch
Heavily shortened explanation of what happened there at the end and why Shirou is still alive is basically that Ilya used Third Magic to preserve his soul and they put it into a puppet body built by Touka Aozaki, a character from Kara no Kyoukai who specializes in this kind of stuff.
Did they ever watch or read fatte route?
Because it's actually has the best dynamics for shirou and the heroine
Not to mention Last Episode
@@ShinJack_ Definitely did not read, apparently watched a couple episodes of Deen/stay night. I guess all one can do is pray to the anime gods that some day Ufotable makes one more fate that actually works as an introduction, so the 2006 anime can be left behind as a relic...Wild to think about the fact that things ended up this way, sooo many people dont get to experience the first third, where the story ACTUALLY STARTS! Hoping you guys try Kara no Kyoukai sometime in the future. It’s my favourite Type-moon work and imo it also has Type-moon’s best MC alongside Shirou.
To actually care about type moon lore you have to atleast read source material
I recommend Kara no Kyoukai if you haven't seen it yet. It takes place in the same universe/world as Fate Stay Night and it is an absolute 10/10.
1:19:35 on the contrary, this happens because of the different ideologies of shirou and archer. UBW isnt compatible with his current self which makes the sword in UBW to come out of his body. Its destroying him inside every time he does a projection
heaven's feel is a true magic that can manifest soul physically. That mannequin at the end is a whole another discussion that will be explained in Kara no Kyoukai 😁. but basically its no different than any other human mortal body, they just have to put a soul on it
Bro i got to watch this shit in theater, and that was the best freaking experience ever
You noticed that Aias was still active when Medusa was riding Bellerophon 👏🏼
Words can't describe just how effortlessly badass Kirei is as a character
Morally misguided priests in anime>>>>
This entire movie is just Kirei flexing - verbally and physically - everytime he is on screen and I love every second of it.
I'm glad you guys just went all in on (at least this route of) Fate. There's a lot of lore, but it goes unbelievably hard.
"I`ll stab you, and you`ll feel better" - Shirou while saving Sakura, probably
Recommend your Fate/strange Fake that may be released in July this year
PV name is Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn,
The production is A-1 Pictures retaining the comic style,
The PV song is FAKEit by Sawano Hiroyuki, just watching the PV and music is looking forward to the arrival of July
Sacrifice the false Holy Grail War to invoke the real Holy Grail War
Alright... time to drive out the fakes?
The way Shiro revived at the end is very confusing to casual fans. I got it with the whole puppet being used as a host for Shiro’s soul and Aozaki’s tiny cameo. But it was extremely vague and badly explained. Several reactors are always left confused about it. Ufotable should’ve done some exposition or something for 30 seconds. Not every viewer is an avid visual novel/nasu-verse fan.
i would strongly urge you guys to either read the visual novel for the Fate route or at least watch the 06 anime, in terms of character writing, music and overall atmosphere it's by far the best of the Stay Night adaptations and the romance between Saber and Shirou is absolutely beautiful, probably my favorite romance in all of fiction, Deen's adaptation has a pretty bad reputation but honestly, the main negatives about it is them trying to cram a bit of Heaven's Feel and UBW into an arc and bloating it way beyond what it was supposed to be, also the animation is kinda sub par for the most par but honestly, i'd still take it over these movies any day of the week
also one thing i noticed is you guys thinking Zero is a direct prequel which it isn't however, it takes place in a separate timeline from Stay Night and only depicts events that are mostly similar to what happened in Stay Night's 4th HGW
The fun part? is that this is still the tip of the iceberg of fate lore. Now we a good Strange/fake adaptation.
By the way, Illya's dress is better explained in the Visual Novels and it's quite the interesting and deep explanation, there's a big "what", "how" and "why" to that dress.
Shirou got yeeted to an alternative timeline........so who wants to tell them about 'Oath Under Snow' 😂
I'll go now 😉
Your joke about Illya saving Shirou if you got Enough points with her is unironically true
(in the normal End Shirou dies and destroys Angry mango, but he dies and Sakura stays alone)
Also, You guys are right the Vn had more time for the Romance, Character interactions and development
For example kirei and illya had more Screen time In The Vn than in the Movie
I personally hope that you'll check out the kara no kyoukai movies
They are a series of Movies that take place In the nasuverse and they share the same writer as Fsn, Tsukihime and Mahoyo
I also Think that you guys would probably like mahoyo (I think that the mahoyo Vn is nasu's best work till now)
Hope that you guys will check it out when it comes
Fun lore fact, "Nine Lives Blade Works" wasn't just Shirou creating Hercules weapon, he actually copied his true, ultimate Noble Phantasm completely (as a Berserker he doesn't have the mental capabilities to perform a high level technique, if he were another class he might've had his strongest technique. at the cost of 1 rank lower in all his stats (except NP ofc, which would go up).
Archer Herc is the strongest and he has 9 different np in that form. However yes what you said was true if he was something like a Saber or Lancer he would be able to use this attack.
@@negate4828 according to fgo now even his berserker form can perform the attack.
Imagine an alternate scenario where Kirei Kotomine won against Shirou and got to ask for his wish:
Kirei: "What is my purpose?"
A drunk being answers: "You pass butter."
Kirei: "Oh my god!"
Drunken being: "Yeah, welcome to the club, pal."
Fun fact: Shirou likes Kotomine Kirei.

BRO THAT WAS THE SAME REACTION I HAD WHILE READING THE VISUAL NOVEL LMAOOOOO
It was so fucking HYPE and HAPPY that I couldn't stop smiling!
Kirei is the mvp of the movie! and the ending hits me so hard every time when i see Illya walking away... 😭
8:39 That's funny because Kotomine literally has a rocket launcher on FGO lmao.
Have you guys watched the Kara no Kyoukai movies? Same Fate universe, written even before fate s/n
With the Aozaki Touko cameo, this is a call for them to watch Kara no Kyoukai.
All of these movies just makes me wonder how long the war would be if Shirou got Avalon as his permanent loadout
1:02:04 Even with all his existing flaws Kinoko Nasu's writing is amazing, simply superb, yeah.
You should Watch the Garden of sinners because you can understand the last part of the movies.
And the last person rin and sakura past is one of the mane characters of The Garden of sinners.
Let's us come and make Caleb play the VN live on twitch
If its not in the channel and have no reaction for us viewers, still check it out on your own time! unfortunately it's not adapted by ufotable, but the animation of the 10min trailer was enough to satisfy me.
anything Nasuverse related ufotable doesn't touch makes me happy lol
Apparently the final scene of Zouken was anime-original. In the VN, he died when Sakura killed Assassin and squished him.
Not true exactly but I won't spoil further Incase they read the novel
nope
@@MrInuhanyou123 Dang. Can't believe my Fate-nerd friend would trick me like this.
Grand Order! Grand Order! Grand Order! xD
Pardon me, I just can't hold myself back xDD
Marvelous reaction as always
We got all routes in anime form now we can get a new Fate route anime with the true ending :)
I hope you will watch the Garden of Sinners movie their a part of the Fate universe and is based of one of Nasu’s first works
また動画時間長くなってる……
嬉しい……
Hope they watched Kara no Kyoukai
But if there's just one thing I wish they included at the end,
Just one line from Shirou
One thing from 'that scene':
"I... Really like, Kotomine Kirei."
The final fight of Heaven's Feel, is the moment where you get to see the True Zenith of both Shirou and Kirei's characters: Both of their lives are already over-- their just on borrowed time, and now, both of them are simply fighting because they want to... and that's all. Maybe they brought over none of the monologue, cause words could do the beauty of that scene from the novel no justice.
"I... Like Kotomine Kirei."
Do you guys think you'll react to SSSS Dynazenon at any point?
Ok, we really need a good adaptation of Fate route (aka Saber's route) so the bros could forget the horrible adaptation of Deen's. Cause I won't stand about the slander of saber's route
God this movie is so hype.
Hope you guys watching el-melloi next :)
This movie proves Rider is best girl 😊
Allow me to help you with your next step on the Fate Stay Night watch order. The next thing you need to see: Fate/Stay Night OP - "Brave Shine", but it's all Kotomine Kirei (AMV)
Uzui vs gyutaro or Alter saber vs Rider?
I'll pick alter saber vs rider as it was goddamn cinematic in cinema
Please react to Garden of Sinners as it was an important part to understand the ending of spring song. And has hell of animation too.
''I don't understand why would she want to kill Shinji'?' Bro he literally tried to r*pe her.... again
He was doing a Shirou impression (jokingly).
Kirei is a goated Antagonist
Man I love this movie so much will you guys watch kara no kyoukai?
