You seem not to understand Mark's point here. No one is saying it is not a bookable offence. However, there is the thing of applying common sense to the rule. The kick is some mild that every player has done it at least once. It is a spinal level thing. Players don't think about this things. What we are saying is referees should understand this and caution the player just like for blatant fouls that actually warrant a second yellow card in most cases, but not given. That is applying common sense. If Rice had booted the ball away like Joao Pedro in the 1st half, that is a different kettle of fish and no one would moan, plus the location of the event is so far away from the opponent's goal. Let us apply this rule then for every player that does this and let us see how many bookings will occur in every game. But we all know it will not happen in every game. This is where the angle of injustice comes in because, this has costed Arsenal points. In the game in which the referee decides not to book the player for similar infringement, the team benefits from it. If the ball was kicked onto Rice and he's oblivious of what's going on behind him, how can he be cautioned for time wasting? Furthermore, the ball was still moving. Mental decision to send him off and make a fanfare of nothing.

I agree with a lot you say LB but I think you’re misconstruing a lot of peoples problem with, the large problem is that this type of thing happens all the time every weekend and very scarcely enforced, even this weekend, one of the few times they have chosen to enforce it is when it leads to a player being sent off, not a great look tbh
