The quite amusing scene is that the 90-year-old granny suddenly put on a serious face and asked a most vibe-changing philosophical question: what’s the point of longevity. Fortunately, 阳离子 offered an adequately shrewd answer that melted the ice on granny’s face.
What a great place. China is full of such wonderful places. And you are such a charming and intelligent host. The way you answered the 90 year old lady’s question was spot on.
I was fascinated by this blog of an ANCIENT town and how it continues to be alive. So many things to discover with you. Thank you for consistently making these blogs to share about China today. With your busy life, I don't know how you can maintain your immaculate, beautiful fingernails!
Cool! You're finally in Longmen village! Yeah, the rice fields surrounding the village, the ducks in the nearby streams, it's all so beautiful! You can also feel the warmth of the people in the buildings here that are very lived-in. They also still have "night fragrance dumpers" (night soil carriers) which surprised me when i first visited. Also those white bricks i think are dried bricks of sweet potato starch There's plenty of recipes for uses of sweet potato starch, especially for chewy mochi-like sweets or for making noodles. and yep, this isn't just any emperor's village of origin, this is Sun Quan's ancestral home, one of the three kings of the Three Kingdoms era. The central building in that cluster is their ancestral worship ci-tang shrine for the Sun 孙 family name.
Some of the wines, though called wines, are not for drinking, but for rubbing on your joints, or bruises from martial arts practice or sport injuries. Interesting village, interesting video. 👍
My first working place was located in Fuyang. I stayed there for several years after I finished my college time. I know that place well. And I also understand the local dialect. That was my best time in there.
Kath, interesting video! Watching it, I began to imagine what I would do if I were in a similar small village. I suppose there are many interesting things to see and do in such a quiet place, but I think it's more suitable for a weekend getaway for some quiet time rather than long-term residence.
What a lovely place! Glad you got the answer to 'how to eat chalk', no answer to how the child knew the prices of guns though. My weeks are always improved when your videos come up.
the badminton business is just one of the millions businesses in villages in Zhejiang. each has one item to make. then a lot of them sell in Yiwu's huge market where all kind of international buyers come to buy those stuffs.
The old lady said they smash the sweet potato into powder then washed it, get rid of the waste, then dry it you will get these white food. Basicly it's sort of like a starch thing.
10:40 I disagree. In the US, pulling out a toy gun can get you killed. My kids never had one. You just never know what kind of games kids will play and know what real gun owners would do in the name of safety. It is hard to tell what is real or not in a flash of time.
It’s pretty in the middle of nowhere but not THAT in the middle of nowhere 🤪 I didn’t see any that day but some villagers told me they have seen foreign visitors there before
The emperor's dynasty preceded the thousand years old village by a millennium, guess if you want to get hitched within the confine of village the genealogy record has to be consulted to see how many times you're removed from each others? I was told same surnames matrimonials are frowned upon in old country precisely bc of non updated/existent ancestral records. Old woman appears boastfully proud of her longevity and looks like she doesn't like being🌨❄😂too early. Your namesake ukrainian counterpart farther south annually harvested the white chalky stuff so recognised it after 2nd viewing. Do cats lose their feline annoying mating calls when neutered ? definitely save waking me up from deep sleep and countless wild life

I would have frozen hahahaha
Great answer by the way!👍
She's might just be the most humble Miss.modelo.DIGITAL and heartwarming person to exist🌹

I really liked those ancient little villages built in traditional architectures and their way of life! Thanks for sharing.
Villagers named Sun.
Kids playing with guns.
Enjoying fried buns.
You had loads of fun! :D
Great find Katherine! What a unique and long lasting city/ village from the Sung Dynasty! 👍
Wow, the Sun family share the same surname with Sun Tzu. That's so cool!
also Sun Quan the emperor of the 3 kingdoms fame . He came from this village.
😋
@@nanyanguo1so, it's more than a thousand years old village. 1800++ years to be exact. 😮😮😮
Kathy, you're simply the very best I've seen in this genre. Charming, innovative, relaxed. Keep it up, please!
What a beautiful town, thanks for taking us on a dreamy trip!
Katherine Mandarin is so GOOD.
Almost like a local 😂😂💪💪
Thanks Katherine for showing us this quirky ancient town
What a beautiful, quaint village! Love this :) ❤

Wow! So much history and interesting things! Sweet potato starch: Not lotus root starch?
Very interesting village, friendly and welcoming...God bless Katherine 🙏
" ya all" i love it. You can take the girl out of the south, but you can't take the south out of the girl!"
“Enough about guns, let’s talk about buns.” Best transition
Great info
I am the 2nd to view the video ....wow🎉
👍👍👍
Some of the wines, though called wines, are not for drinking, but for rubbing on your joints, or bruises from martial arts practice or sport injuries.
Interesting village, interesting video. 👍
I'd really love to see you talk in Mandarin with Adam and Hailey! Your Madarin accents are totally different tho you are all Americans!

Wow, a 1,000-year-old village seems like an easygoing and affordable place to live.
Thanks
Thanks for supporting the channel ❤️
So nice❤
very interesting
Simple, rustic, quiet and a safe environment 😂😂
Still the first?? Where's the comments? 🤣
Anyway, loved this one too. Very nice old place I could retire into.
Well preserved too.

the grandma says it's made of sweet potatoes. It's sweet potato flour,红薯粉
Wonder when I can travel like this...hopefully not when I can still move around healthily.

You can call that badminton operation… a racquet
They used to be popular I had one

So close , but still it is a pity not posting the first comment.
"Okay, enough about guns, let's talk about buns."
I feel like these kinds of statements could bring about world peace.
Batminton rackets: 5:11 I also see tennis rackets. What about pickleball paddles?! The hottest sport in North America, so to be in China!!
that grandma doesn't look like 90 years old at all! my guess would be 72
Agreed, to my Chinese eyes, my wild guess is around 80
Church in China, very nice.
Is that sweet potato starch (used for thickening)?
😆grannie having some serious existential crisis! Guess how old I am!! Guess!!! What's the point!!!!!!!
Are your parents coming to visit (or stay for ever) you in China? Happy American Thanksgiving!
hopefully they are coming in May, stay tuned 😎
9:34, did Aysajan put on makeup? something like eye shadow and mascara? lol
No hahahaha he just has really long eyelashes 😂
@@kats_journey_east guess that's one of merits being a uigur😁envying......

True as well, especially since these guns aren't even like a "cute color" or whatever like basically every other toy is, some of them look very real 😱
Indeed, especially in a "stand your ground" state.
Oh, now I see some comments.
The video is somewhat short and needs to be extended as I haven't had enough.
3:10 sweet potato starch I geuss.
are you the first foreign visitor
It’s pretty in the middle of nowhere but not THAT in the middle of nowhere 🤪 I didn’t see any that day but some villagers told me they have seen foreign visitors there before
(something about Jesus) had me cracking up lol
First.#1
i like guns but unfortunately i've never had a real gun in my hand so far.
8:30 This just debunks western views that religion is banned in China
