- Welcome mis amigos to my Roller Skating 6 Months Progress Vlog!!! I hope you find these beginner roller skating tips and tricks for beginner roller skaters useful (btw this is from one beginner roller skater to another :)) I hope we can learn roller skating tricks together in the future of this series as we become pro roller skaters (eventually). Thanks for tolerating my mistakes and DISCLAIMER: I'm still a beginner roller skater so no hate pls and thanks only constructive criticism.
10 MONTH UPDATE: • Roller Skating in Publ...
Ok so let me clear up the timeline, I went roller skating for the first time 8 months ago and didn't go again for a couple of months. Then I made my 'Beginner roller skating' video (episode 1) before finally starting to learn. At this point I think I'm eligible for the world record slowest learner so I hope my skating series can make you feel better :') FULL SERIES HERE: • Rollerskating Series

I’m kind of guilty of starting to skate and then stopping because I was awful. Thanks for pushing me to try again
bad practice is always better than no practice... but I always forget that! so glad I could motivate you
@@HeglaRUclips damn lmaooooooooo roasted 😎👉👉
Girl same
@@moon9574 lol
I was the same tho
"Try filming yourself because you'll look back and be happy your slightly less shit" This quote is just so much more inspirational than you'll realize. It's just so cute and wholesome and makes me wanna roller skate and record just so I can see how much I've improved.

AWWW !! im so glad it could inspire you! and you definitley should keep little videos of yourself to look back on :)
Loving the fact that you're totally relaxed about your goals. You do it for fun, not to impress. And most of it all, you do it for yourself. There are many skaters here on YT with such attitude and drama it destracts from the actual skating. And having just plain ordinary skates with no special wheels or upgrades makes you totally human and lovable! Great stuff!
Omfg skating drama I couldn’t imagine it ahah also I don’t think I could upgrade if I wanted to they’re EXPENSIVE !😂
its so nice to see another skater celebrating "small" improvements like this, ive been skating semi seriously since january and i just figured out backwards skating! im so happy :,) you're awesome !
ahahaha its the little things in life lol it took me so long to skate backwards and I STILL cant do it well
I really loved seeing gradual progress over a longer length of time, I've had my skates a month and i'm taking the learning/improving reeaaaal slow and steady... but then I keep seeing "I learned to skate in a week/a month!!!" videos where they get good really quick and I feel like I'm inadequate. :')
That’s so amazing to hear!! Cause I always saw people getting really good in a week and I could never 😂
How many hour do you skate?
im the same way, i learn so slow and feel like im crap compared to others
one thing i’d recommend is to try to find other roller skaters to go out with, once i found a community my progress sky rocketed because i could learn off of everyone else :)
Aww wish I had more skaters near me honestly
@@HeglaRUclips if you’re ever in the suffolk area you should go to ipswich, there’s hundreds there!
In my town, almost impossible we don't even really even have skateboarders 😭
same!! I'm tryna get my friend into it tho
@@HeglaRUclips i wanna start skating to but theres not any in England where i live
when you spin/ turn try not stop straight away, try to continue on backwards a bit, and turn less, more like 180 degrees instead of spinning a bit more, idk this helped for me. and ive said this before but open book closed book transitions are the way to go :)
THIS IS SUCH GOOD ADVICE!!! Thank you amigo:)
As a 1yr beginner myself: getting really deeeep in your knees and be a little bouncy really helps to improve. A lot of moves are easier then. 🙂 And you feel a lot more stable, especially when you are lifting some wheels. Happy skating 😊🙃
As someone who grew up skating and picking it up again 15 years later. That 1st try after so long was def a gut punch and I was so sad and discouraged I just started again a month ago and I'm so happy because I'm actually improving and toning my body af the same time. Go girl!
I love seeing how relaxed you are, I was so nervous when I started but learnt to just bloody send it and although I've had many falls and tailbone injuries in the month or two I've been skating, I've learnt to care less about falling and now I can spin and turn. Love the vids
Really appreciate this video! I've been skating since March 2020 and was skating often last year but felt discouraged and haven't skated in a few months. I'm so glad there's other people, and people in the comments, who feel the same.
I started skating around the time when I had found your channel and you pushed me try harder and carry on skating so thankyou for making these videos
this was super helpful. please stop putting yourself down. everyone has their own way of learning and their own pace. I'm soo proud of you ❤️
Your skate journey is a lot like mine! I am making slow but steady progress and I just try to remind myself it is not a race and to focus on progressing bit by bit :) thank you for the honest reflection!
ive been having a bit of a rough night and found myself frustrated and sad in bed. your attitude really lifted my spirits. i started skating about a week ago and have been skating in my house like every day. i’m gonna get up at 10 pm and do that now because i feel happy (even while holding my sadness) enough to be able to do that. thank you
i watched the first video and i’m happy you’ve put on guards now! i also started roller skating when i watch your first video so this one’s a motivation for me:)
finally a more acurate version of "learning to skate"
ive seen other videos and they r all "day 2: i am now grinding railings"
ty!!
I love this series, as a new roller skater I really enjoy watching your journey and you make the process so entertaining! :) also ty for the tips!! 💗
Love listening to your thoughts and what you went through in your rollerskate journey.
awww well I hope it helped you :D
I love your videos so much! Watching you makes me motivated to grab those skates and go for them ☺️
Probably about 2 and a half years ago I started my skate journey. humble beginning skating in a little room in the building I lived and skating around the balcony. Always something new to learn. no matter how skilled you are and yes everyone I know falls every time they skate!
Great progress, Hegla. You did remind me a lot about my own journey to quad-roller skate. Keep that determination & persistence, you will surely be a great roller skater in no time ^_
Omg look. At. You. Goooo! I hope you’re proud. Seriously, mega improvement! We all start somewhere and it’s super inspiring to watch you keep at it. It’s very easy to be discouraged especially in the beginning, but once you get a feel for it, it has the potential to bring so much joy and vitality to your life. Thank you for posting!
AWW THANKS!!! Made me smile 😊 glad you can see some progress even if I can’t hahah
Nice! You are an inspiration.💛💛💛
This was such an awesome video! Thank you for posting! Very inspirational! I’m about ready to buy my first skates and I’m going to the roller rink hopefully tomorrow.
Im loving the rollerskating community on RUclips the content is getting so good 🤣
I am so happy with your progress!Girl keep doing your thing! (P.s. I love the intro and outro^^)
My skates arrived today and I’m going out on them for the first time later! This video was super helpful thankyou so much
You've definitely found your ~flow~ Loved watching this!
yes!! i love watching progression videos! your super good!
I love these videos as a beginner! I picked up some tips and it's just fun to watch others learn as well 😌 what I do recommend is bending your knees more and refrain from leaning your upper body too forward, it's something I did waaay too much which really messed up how I Landed if I was going to jump and also from what I learned, semi squatting is kinda like the roller skating stance. It's something that takes time to get used too but overall learning how to skate is a really fun hobby ☺have fun!
woah i’m early, but u give me so much motivation honestly
AWW best luck with you skating :D
You are doing amazing, keep it up ✨🧡
I love this video this made me feel a little bit better about myself because you showed me I can also get somewhere with practice😌

Have you tried inline skates
Btw roller skates are like yours the wheels like a car and inline skates are wheels behind each other like a line
You skate really good but you might like in-line rollerblading try it👍🏻
Hey Hegla! You’re more inspiring to me than anyone that picks this up easily. I used to go to the roller rink a couple weekends a month during my childhood. I’ve never been able to skate backwards! So frustrating, however, I just ordered my skates and that will be the first thing that I conquer…. Once I can get my balance. Skating is so much harder to pick back up.
that is a lot of good improvement, keep it up! you go girl!
Roller skating feels so freeing thanks for the tips girl I literally needed them lol
When I watch these videos from any content creator, I always look at the background. You people are in beautiful environments. 👌🏼
Amazing progress! Well done 🙌🏻
The energy of these vlogs are immaculate! Also props to your skates, cause ive been skating since November last year, and ive just about broken my second pair of skates lol.
THANK YOU!!! and I'm in the market for new ones because mine are squeaky now
@@HeglaRUclips beach bunnies are cheap(er) and super good for people who don’t want to spend a lot on fancy skates while they’re learning. So are rio roller signatures
You've inspired me to start documenting my own journey ! I was so discouraged cause I wanted to learn all the moves now and fast ! but you somehow taught me practising slowly is the key .
Thank you 🌹 #newsubbie
Great video! Good luck!🍀
Tu as de vrai bons conseils ! Continues à faire des retours aussi pétillants!
Wow that’s fantastic! You should be very proud of yourself! Skating is defo something I would love to get into...I just need to do it! 👍🏻
This was genuinely so helpful!
AWW! I'm so glad :D
Thank you so much for this video! It was really helpful and it motivates me to try again. Xx
You give us beginners hope! 😊
This was actually a very exciting video :)
I ain't lying but it actually learnt skating in just the first day! Btw really cool video you got a new sub ♥️
I've just started skating. My goal is to be less shit so this video was very encouraging. Thank you. You are a gem 💎
Great job! Knee pads are always a wise idea. Keep skating!
Gosh I have just started rollar skating and this has just gave me inspiration ty so much ;)
This video is so cool! I’ve learnt that people have different learning speeds and learn different skills in different ways and stuff xx
Glad you enjoyed it bro and thats so so true!!
I’m So happy I found you!!! I’m one week into roller skating - I want to learn backwards first and then heel toes 😂
You’ve made a lot of progress! I’m excited to get my skates :D
its hard to notice it but Imma try get out more for my 12 month update :D also when do your skates come?
This is day 1 for me-thanks for the fun video
I am barely beginning my journey gurlll ! Loved the video 🎀🎀💅🏽👍🏽
I really want to try! I've always wanted a physical skill and this always seemed so freeing. But I'm clumsy and easily embarrassed 😳 this video though made me feel a bit better about giving it a go, cause you just seem so normal and human and you've been doing so well to me!
I commend you on your journey and being courageous in this recreation. It is definitely fun and exciting, and it can be a mystery on how it all comes together. Mostly skating are a few coordinated move sets, some traditional ballroom - foxtrot, ballet, waltz, tango, quickstep, etc as the skate is designed to form-fit a dancer. At any rate. I am happy you took this forward to be as candid and to show others your ability or inability in some areas, as we are not perfect, but to adapt and to be more relaxed is the key to roller skating, that's how I started at least, some from visual in rinks and just getting the gumption to go!
This has really made my day thank you
AWW NO YOU MADE MY DAY:DDD
ahh love this!! your first rollerskating vid inspired me to film myself rollerskating 😂 hoping to post a vid of my progress soonnn🙈 I tried all those tricks in your first vid & I finally have them down!
Honestly filming myself changed the game cause I could actually see what I was doing wrong! Good luck 🤞
So inspiring! I've been rollerskating for about a month.
You are hilarious!!! Great progress!
This is really inspirational ♡
i love all your content!!!
dude that means so much ;')
Yasss💜💜 thank you for motivating me
This made me so happy wow - I just tried skating for the first time.
Loved this video!
I'm starting to do inline skating (roller blading) so I can take them to skateparks and start learning all that cool stuff with ramps and that but the thing is I got to learn the basics first and these tips will help a ton! I take myself to a really quiet place so I can just learn skating around and stuff because I have never done it before xD
THAT MEANS ITS BEEN 6 MONTHS SINCE IVE BEEN WATCHING U thanks for all the smiles laughs and ofc pain from falling on my skates by the inspiration you gave me!
THAT MADE MY HEART WARM AWW!!!
@@HeglaRUclips 😭😭😭😭
I love this video!!!!!! Just got my first pair of whip roller skates, as a 28 year old woman 🤣😁 and i am sooooooo keen this video gave me hope thank you... lol hopefully this momma will be even just half as good as you!!!!
I bought skates like 4-5 years ago, I barely used to skate. I'm not that good cause I never really enjoyed doing skating but now IDK how I'm so hyped up bout it and I wanna start over. BTW lot's of love 💙
I like, "if you're not falling, you're not pushing yourself hard enough"👍🏽🙂
Heyoo! I've been skating for a year and a half and you've made more progress than I have ahahahha. Your beginning skating was better than mine so don't worry about looking like a fool, I was so much more stiff than you. A tip for skating backwards is really bend your knees more! Also I always trip or lose my balance while skating so don't worry about that, just be a little more of when you're flexing your muscles because I notice that I tend to lose balance or trip whenever I relax muscles. Roller skating is one of those things where you need to keep some muscles constantly flexing, even if they're not 100% flexing.
Thanks so much! I appreciate your video!
This is a great vid & very realistic. I’ve been doing it for a couple of months now, and feel like my progress is going back. I’ve lost my bottle lol
i love your energy :>
You Déborah are my only teacher on how to walk and you are very good at teaching. I've never been with you in the ring but thanks to technological innovation I've been following all your classes. A hug and a kiss from your student and friend Jaime Reis.
Super cool vid! thanks for sharing the progress and tips. Just bought my first skate and super nervous to try it out. Have you noticed any physical changes since skating? (i.e. more toned legs or better core? - your core looks insane!)
I loved skating as a kid and I just kinda stopped and now that I'm old and 22 and all my friends have skateboards I really wanna get into it again and this video alone has already motivated me to keep going aha
i just started skating again and this is v uplifting thank u😙
This makes me so excited! I literally just got my skates in today and I haven't even laced them and have only wore one to see if they would fit and honestly my goal was 6 months to start trying to learn how to skate backwards so this made me smile that it's not just me. I see a lot of these and it seems like my progress would take ages, and I'm okay with that but it feels like I'm also not gonna get it so I'm glad I'm not the only one who would take their time and progress over a long period :D I'm really nervous and scared and waiting on my protective gear to come in but I'm excited :)
As soon as you got your protection get out there 😁😁 I know you’re gonna love it if your super excited !! Good luck
@@HeglaRUclips Thank you!! I'm waiting on Amazon to deliver it tomorrow!! I just laced my boots today and I started these beginner exercises on the carpet to get a feel for it and I'm having a lot of fun! :D I'll be zooming in no time!
I've been doing figure skating with those type of skates for 4 years now and I decided to buy outdoor skates to go to skatepark or just skate outside, I'm so excited !!
NICE. cute video, you’re doing great! i’m currently rly wanting to roller skate but i just bought a longboard so trying to focus on that first 🥴😅
LONG BOARD!!!! Bro that’s awesome 😦
Love this video
AWW thank you that means so much :D
Blading and skating is back in a big way. People realize is flat out FUN!!
Great content hegla..!!! 🙌
I love your humor 😆 !! Lmfaooo the penguin comment is me rn
Top top tip - bending your knees helps in EVERYTHING but especially when doing ramps. Well done though! You're doing awesome!
You made me buy skates and I'm not regretting it :DDD
HEYYY URE BACK AGAIN WITH THIS
bruh the fact you managed to learn during the shite weather of the uk in winter over the past 6 months, incredible
honestly was out in the dark and cold at 9pm just so I could get an empty car park lmaoo
honestly this is tempting me to learn to skate again,i used to but i fell and was really unmotivated but these videos are actually making me motivated!
Gracie you should!!!! I get super unmotivated sometimes too but any practice is better than none :D
@@HeglaRUclips :DD
Protective gear makes your fall a bit easier to cope with. Butt pads, knee pads, wrist pads, helmet... the whole works. When you fall you, they help especially that butt pad lol I was so self conscious about it now no one can tell me anything ..... I hurt myself the first time I tried roller skating.... and out of commission for two weeks. Now I know the true value of the butt pad. And makes my practices sessions a bit more enjoyable because I am not dealing with the fear of falling.
@@mystiquek9870 thanks for the tips:))
Your voice is so satisfying to listen to
it's funny because as a beginner skater im watching you say 'oh yeah and here you can see me doing horribly' meanwhile im practically screeching about how good you're actually doing
Ill be pushing my self from now on im still a penguin haha loveyou!
This is great inspiration for me to buy shoulder, knee and hands pads and actually find a place for me to start practicing with my skates.
I don't have places to do it, no cementing the backyard and I'm not someone who leaves the house, but I'm looking to maybe try and get with friends to hang out somewhere while I practice...
Awesome video. Unfortunately I'm still in penguin waddle, Frankenstein, neanderthal man walk stage and I hate it. I fell on my back a few times and I think it's given me a phobia. I'm fearful of falling but will continue. I don't think I'm practicing enough though so will try harder.
Giiiiiirl I quit social media too its been great goodluck and of course thanks for da tippies 🙌
