Episode 6: Love After Assault "I believe in therapy & healing. I STILL believe in love." Njeri Migwi

- Njeri Migwi is truly a remarkable woman. She is a mother and the Executive Director of Usikimye Kenya, an NGO that fights against sexual and gender based violence. An organisation she began while she was still living under sexual and gender based violence, afraid to leave.
And in this sixth episode, Kalekye sits down with Njeri to have a much needed conversation that opens us to a world of marrying young, believing in staying and praying for a marriage despite the emotional, mental and physical abuse to marrying for survival and still having the will to love again.
How does one heal and still believe in love after the one she trusted and called husband beat her so bad it left her deaf in one ear? How does one trust again and how should they be made feel safe when we can tell their guard is constantly up?
There must be time to heal and have an identity away from titles and those willing to love a victim of assault must be kind, understanding and have a lot of patience.

Mbiooooo
Lol....
Same here…. Had to watch the full interview…
I'm still watching but in the initial stages I'm struck by the fact that nobody is calling the grown man with a 15 year old a pedophile. That's what he is 1st of all.
Right! That’s what angered me the most. But years ago to be honest that wasn’t something many people looked at keenly from within the continent and world over. So sad that wasn’t something that raised eyebrows.
My daughter sent me this.. I've cried listening..I thought I healed.. Lord I need help... 1my story is so like yours... he wasn't rich though...
Ooh I am so sorry for what you went through Nancy. Healing takes time, keep working on yourself and know you are worthy of love
i can listen to Njeri Migwi all day
You and us both! Thanks for watching.
No man should hit his wife period!! I'm a dad of 2 girls and that's a point I'll insist before I hand them over for marriage...
That’s really great… teach them what it means to be loved right. Well done sir
I will use this story the rest of my life because it has really repositioned me in my life. "Our calling might be greater than Love "
I could listen to her all day....She is such a gem
When I hear such stories I thank God the person survived and I can not help but wonder where the perpetrator is; are they beating the next person and living life freely without apprehension.
This is an absolutely good conversation and she seems like a nice lady. However, I think the choices we make should be to a good standard and not drop them just because people think they are too high; someone will meet you up there. Please link the website for voting in the description box, it will be easier, THANKS.
At 15!!!! Like for real 😢😢😢 somebody marrying a child.. hio is enough red flag!!!!. What were all the adults around njeri doing!!! Am so mad like right now😢. Jees.
Njeri ❤❤
She ran away… and her mum was not in her life at the time. It’s very sad.
There are a lot of lessons to pick from this story. It was worth every minute of listening. You're a phenomenal woman Njeri.
Amen, we think so too! Thank you for watching.
Yes👍💪🥳😃👏. #Kalekye seems to be on a mission... Remember #DrZippy too? 🎬👍💪😃👏🥳. Well done 👍✅.

What an amazing conversation. She is a conquerer and may she keep changing lives. I have watched Njeri on other channels but there's always something unique to take from each one. This is the power of storytelling 🎉.
This was so comforting to watch. I could easily connect to Njeri Migwi's story. Thank you for this episode.
You are most welcome 🙏🏾
Eye opening, inspirational, educative & totally worth watching.. Thank you Njeri for speaking to me & my situations.
We love that you have been inspired. Thank you for watching
You are such an amazing woman Njeri. May God bless you for what you do. ❤

Awww bless you, we appreciate it. Listen back to past episodes as well. Welcome to Conversations with me Kalekye.
@njerimigwi has such a beautiful heart.
We think so too! Thank you so much for watching.
I don't cook also. Can listen to this again and again ❤
And it’s okay not to be able to cook… thank you for watching. Try it on Spotify too
I couldn't really cook to taste until about 23years old; it's not really a big deal. You can employ a chef... But if you're alone, hunger may train you the urgency way ... If you can't reach where to buy/order on time.
I am in love with your hair Kalekye, it’s fearless! 😘
Awww thank you so much. And thank you for watching 🙏🏾
What a beautiful story of courage.
Kalekye, I stumbled upon your channel yesterday. So well done ❤
Thank you for watching. Welcome to the channel.
Such a powerful story, my heart breaks that this happened to her but I’m so amazed by the work that she does. Pain can truly be turned into power. Love from the UK🥰
Her story is sad but powerful in deed.Thank you for watching from London.
Kalekye I think I should get into acting, film acting and pour out my heart there... Love is more of a fairly tale and I would wish to live that kind of love in drama or movies..
Waooo intertesting!! Please start looking for auditions for shows, you never know!
So fresh and scratching my fresh experiences. Failing to heal though but I don't think one can really understand this trauma coz it hurts every time you navigate back through the steps.
Healing is a process for sure…

U look beautiful gals
🥰🥰🥰 thank you
Njeri you are beautiful.
We think so too. Thank you for watching.
But why do abusers keep on monitoring the person they dont want like in this story?
Truly a mystery that maybe a psychologist can diagnose
They know you're good woman and they don't want to let you go. They have found a person to massage their ego . My thinking
Faith comes by hearing the word of God
Shame comes by hearing
If something is repeated too often you start believing it
It's called the power of the tongue
This is my punch line
Absolutely true & that is why it is important to know your identity on your own first.
I ran here from facebook
Oooh wonderful, welcome to our podcast, we are happy to have you. Also remember to catchup with past episodes that equally hold compelling stories 🙏🏾
😍😍 this interview.
We are glad you have enjoyed it.
Good job kalekye
Voted❤❤
Thank you so much!
❤❤❤❤
What's the song at the start of the show?
That’s a song I wrote and sang called Ngito which is Kamba for heavy - so those vibes are heavy. I sang it featured on an Electrique DJs track back in 2016. You can search Ngito on RUclips the audio version is here
This really triggered me, damn 😢
So sorry, pray for healing over you
Njeri, it's so beautiful to see this added layer of you.
Thank you so much for who you are. God bless your Father immensely!!!!
Kalekye, thank you so much for creating such a beautiful space.
Thank you for watching, we appreciate you.
There is more to you out there. Have a positive self-image and esteem. Treat people with respect and do not let anyone rob you of your destiny... Anyone with conscience will know when they are hurting another... And apologize... And treat them better. If you mistakenly take the first abuse, maje sure that you dont harbour the second, or else, it becomes a pattern/lifestyle that would be tough to shake off. Remember that you aren't helping the #abuser by tolerating their bad behaviour; rather, you are encouraging a monster...
Another #fighter #conqueror is #Njeri. Thank you and may God be with you. Thank you #Kalekye. May God perfect that which concerns you too (and I ) in Jesus name.
Powerful… Amen and thank you.
"Find yourself first and love will find you" 😭🙌
Very powerful and true. Thank you for watching
