Brilliantly evocative to remember my youth and the joy of spotting a Wessex Electric amongst the mixture of older and newer stock. Love it. Interesting too perhaps how many trains were shorter than you’d see now. So along 4/5 car sets rather than 8/10 or greater. Thanks for sharing
Is the footage of the 47/7s the same as that in your Waterloo - Exeter loco hauled 1990-93 production? If so, then it's 47702 hauling the service to Exeter, not 47712, as the caption on your production states 47702. 47712 never carried NSE livery, but Parcels red when working for NSE. Great video though!
Clapham Junction was a regular haunt of mine during the early 90s. Certainly bring back a lot of good memories.
superb film thanks, so many memories of that era

Great footage. The amount of buddleia in the same location now is astounding
hi. great memories of 1993, love the 47's and 73's
Great memories and great recording. Loved watching, thankyou 👍🏻
What a remaster - the quality is stunning! Well done
Surprised at how clean the trains and stock are
Looked quite a pleasant day, to be even able to see Canary Wharf in the distance.
Lots going on here great filming.
Such short trains for such a busy station x bet overcrowding was a major issue back then lol x
First thing that struck me was the lack of weeds and buddleia compared with today.
@@seandavies3968 not been since but have been told it’s bad
i thought the Waterloo trains didn't start running west of Exeter regularly until December 1996?
There wasn't many that ran beyond Exeter. Bear in mind the Class 159 units were still in the process of delivery at the time this video was filmed.
@@markcf83 Yes it would be another 3 months or so before the 159's were in squadron service.
8:10 CLASS 456
Class 442 the star if this show!
This was a Saturday only from Plymouth

@@ClydebridgeStation good spot there it was 702, have amended the description
Thanks for letting me know👍
@thehogfat I had 47702 in 1989 for shovage from Burntisland to cardenden!
Yeah I know - those trains are ugly and BR weren't great. But there's something about this video that makes me feel deeply nostalgic.
Really miss engine hauled passenger trains.
Shame the railways are now boring with loads of Multiple units. So much better on the continent with lots more variety
Gosh a class 319 in NETWORK RAIL COLOURS 😱wow that’s a first I wonder what the rail fares were then £5-10?
