Hello Jeannie! I am so glad you are feeling better! I have been a subscriber for ages but this is my first ever comment. It made me so happy to hear about your mum and I am so excited for her! Sending much love from Germany xx
I’m an Older Person’s Mental Health Nurse in England and I just wanted to say it’s lovely to hear you speak about your Mum. Dementia is so cruel. Wishing you both all the best xx
It’s absolutely wonderful hearing your mom is doing well in the care facility. Even more wonderful she is still with you. My mom passed 6 years ago, I was 47. Your openness about your life and thoughts and feelings about it are truly a gift to us all. These trips down memory lane are so satisfying. Thank you Jeannie 💕

Thank you! Absolutely loved this 1950’s book. You’re right about consumerism. I can remember what my parents did because it went clear into the 1960s very very interesting. So glad you did it. These books were excellent that you purchased thank you. You’re so kind. I’m glad you’re feeling well and I’m really glad to hear how your mom is doing so wonderful That she’s happy and thriving. That’s a blessing for sure. Love Esme. Have a great summer!!!! Stay cool!!!!Jeannie You certainly deserve it.💛🌻💛

Love hearing about your fun antidotes about living in the bay area/california area! Been living here my whole life and gets me so excited when people share the same/similar memories even if yours are from 50 years earlier:)
I really enjoy these retro videos from all the different decades. My late mother was a teenager in the 1950’s,and said it was the best decade of her life especially with the music and times with her friends. The cars back then looked cool and in some respects better than today’s modern cars even though they lacked the safety. Sadly, both my parents are gone now and I miss talking to them about the times they grew up.

An hour and a half? Heck yes!!!😂 . Thanks for another great video Jeannie. Glad to hear your mom is thriving in her care home. I lost my grandmother last year. She had dementia and you are right, it does not get better unfortunately. My grandmother forgot a lot of things towards the end but she never forgot me 😢. She grew up in the late 40’s and 50’s and always told me about life in the 50’s and how much she loved and missed that era.

Hi Jeannie, So happy you posted thank you. So glad your Mom is doing as well as can be and hope you are feeling better too. Stay safe during that hurricane near you. Love this for relaxing asmr content before bed. Thank you sweet Jeannie🤗
My parents were in their 40s when they had me 45 years ago as an oopsie baby. They both grew up dirt floor poor (most don't realize being dirt poor comes from having dirt floors). We grew, raised, and bartered for almost all of our food because cash was seen as a luxury. Banks weren't to be trusted & everything was to be used until it couldn't be used for anything else. Note paper got wrote on 4 ways (write & turn 90 degrees, repeat until it was all used up & then it was toilet paper). Foil was washed, flattened, and saved for next time. Same with newspapers, rubber bands, grocery sacks, etc. Nothing was single use because that's just a waste of money. Cleaners and soaps were made. I still have that mentality and it got reinforced from being homeless. I partake in convenience items but only buy on sale. Folks don't understand how little we really need to live and do it happily.
yesss! i love these! i think we had one of these somewhere but i can't find it for the life of me, such a shame. i love the sentiment that you hold of your mom, I'm happy she's doing okay. you do carry who she was with you and you always will I'm sure. i got a tattoo of a design my uncle did before he succumbed to alcoholism, back when i was little, and i feel similar as well - happy to remember him as the artist he used to be and not as the sick man that he died as. I'm happy to hear you and your mom are doing well. the story of your grandma is very interesting. i had a friend whose mom was like that - a lot if older people are similar to that here because of the impact of the soviet union.
your pink cup reminded me of lorri latte, who is always drinking her coffee in her videos!! i'm so happy to know that your mom is doing well and healthy, that's wonderful! my great-grandmother didn't adapt very well in the nursing facility and her last years of life were very, very difficult, not only for her but for us as well. in addition to all the problems that come with age, dementia is truly the most heartbreaking one, so I deeply wish you peace of mind.

I'm happy for this 90-minute video, cuz I just got a new mattress (I'm saving my money now that that's out the way) and I can doze off to your voice. Goodnight! 🥰🥰
Lovely video as always Jeannie. I sometimes wonder if I was alive previously in this era… the nostalgia feeling is very strong and powerful despite being born in 1996. Maybe because I was raised by my grandparents?
We actually had a TV remote like that, too, in the mid-60s(I'm 62)...my mom's 85 & she has a couple original mid-century modern pieces of furn that we had when I was little that's probably worth some $$$$
@15:00 GREAT advice! Frugality does seem to be a fringe dying breed. Reminded me of a Socrates line: *“The secret of happiness, you see, is not found in seeking more, but in developing the capacity to enjoy less.”* Nothing is enough for the man to whom enough is too little. So let us not seek more, rather learn to get by with less. Ok I will climb down from my pulpit now. : D
Stay safe in this weather, lady! I can't believe little old Montgomery is getting a hurricane! I am praying for no flooding, as they have not lowered the lake yet 😅
@@JeannieBASMR You are a jewel, Jeanie. I grew up in Southern California and then lived in Santa Cruz, and then Mountain View (now I live in the Chicago suburbs). Whenever you talk of San Jose or other places in California, I get home sick.
Hi Jeannie -- Your channel is such a great contribution to the ASMR community, bringing soothing comfort to so many people. I just want to comment a bit on your mom's situation, as I am a geriatric psychologist (now retired) who practiced for many years with older adults in several continuing care facilities. You mention that you are a plane ride away but that you stay on top of her care, which is great. However, is there any family member living in the Sacramento area who visits her on a regular basis? I can't emphasize more strongly how much residents of continuing care communities crave family contact, especially with children and grandchildren. This is almost universally true, no matter how good the care, the activities or the food--and no matter how happy a resident may seem outwardly. The latter is especially important to note because older people are very reluctant to make their feelings about this known, not wanting to be a burden. I know grown children are working and have their own children to care for, but if you and your siblings (or other relatives) can do a rotation-type arrangement where she is visited by one family member or another, on average once a week, that would be so appreciated by her, especially if she is surrounded by other residents who have frequent family visits. Perhaps your family already has such an arrangement in place, and if so, wonderful!
I truly appreciate this and YES! We have w our family attorney, also our daughter, two exits away from her. She picks her up for lots of family events. Also another daughter and son nearby who stay in touch and visit. Plus all her friends. She talks about how busy she is but she’s so happy. In Texas, she was bored out of her skull. I appreciate your wise words!
Hi, another great video! Thankyou for doing it. My partner who is well into the 2nd World War, has read the book, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommend!
I remember my dad buying a Zenith color TV set floor model back in 1968, it was considered top of the line back then. Having a color TV back in the 60 s was a big deal. My dad owned a Cadillac in the 60 s and my sister and I called it the Bat Mobile because of the fins on the back where the rear lights came out of.
@@JeannieBASMR Jeannie, it’s the least I can do. I don’t know what I do without you. You lull me to sleep every night 🥱😴 Thank you ❤️ ps Pleased to see you have recovered after your family weddings etc. ☺️xx

Lovely video as always Jeannie. I sometimes wonder if I was alive previously in this era… the nostalgia feeling is very strong and powerful despite being born in 1996. Maybe because I was raised by my grandparents?
We actually had a TV remote like that, too, in the mid-60s(I'm 62)...my mom's 85 & she has a couple original mid-century modern pieces of furn that we had when I was little that's probably worth some $$$$
You're the same age as my parents, so I love getting your perspective on things. Very comforting. P.s. you are so beautiful! 💖
Thank you so much!
@15:00 GREAT advice! Frugality does seem to be a fringe dying breed.
Reminded me of a Socrates line: *“The secret of happiness, you see, is not found in seeking more, but in developing the capacity to enjoy less.”*
Nothing is enough for the man to whom enough is too little.
So let us not seek more, rather learn to get by with less.
Ok I will climb down from my pulpit now. : D
Love this! Thank you!
Stay safe in this weather, lady! I can't believe little old Montgomery is getting a hurricane! I am praying for no flooding, as they have not lowered the lake yet 😅
Same here! You stay safe, too! Hopefully this passes quickly!
I went to bed during refrigerators and then continued it this morning, lol.
🤗
@@JeannieBASMR You are a jewel, Jeanie. I grew up in Southern California and then lived in Santa Cruz, and then Mountain View (now I live in the Chicago suburbs). Whenever you talk of San Jose or other places in California, I get home sick.
Wonderful, I love these. Soon I will fall asleep to this, thanks as always! :)
Ladies man by Tim meadows was the SNL skit😂
Yes! Yes! Yes! 🍹
@@JeannieBASMR as soon as you turned on that page and I saw it I thought of the same thing! 😂
You asked near the end…yes I was still watching !!! 😅❤
Hope you enjoyed it! That was loooong! 😄
So glad you’re feeling better! Hope you’re all staying safe from the hurricane 🙏🏻 😮
In the midst of it now! Hoping we don’t lose power. Thanks for your lovely comment!
I love this: “Save more, spend less!”
💰 💪🏼
Nothing like good ol' Jim Crow era America!
Glad we’re past that part!
YESSSSSSSSSS LOVE IT ❤❤
Hi Jeannie -- Your channel is such a great contribution to the ASMR community, bringing soothing comfort to so many people.
Awesome! Yeah, it’s a great story and I love that it’s true!
Yes! They do look like the Batmobile!! 🤗
I love it when you do these videos still my favourite ASMRTIST 😍❤😘🥰
I'm so glad!🙂
Thanks
Wow! Thank you so much!! This goes right to my video items! You’re so very kind!
@@JeannieBASMR Jeannie, it’s the least I can do. I don’t know what I do without you. You lull me to sleep every night 🥱😴 Thank you ❤️ ps Pleased to see you have recovered after your family weddings etc. ☺️xx
The SNL Courvoisier skit was "The Ladies Man" played by Tim Meadows as Leon Phelps
Yes!!! Thank you! That was awesome!
Hi Jeannie I would rather live in the 50/60s then this weird world we live in now those days were much easier to understand and maybe simpler take care possum
