I just bought this same boat! Tanzer 16! Any tips on raising the mast by yourself? I tried a few days ago and man it's heavy. Especially putting it on the keelson. Thanks!
Hi! You got yourself a good boat! Yes if can feel heavy in the beginning but it gets easier with some practice. I just make sure to keep a good pressure on the wall over the keelson. The base should be about over the keelson when raising the mast so, it is al an angle a little so it pass the centerboard case. As the mast is getting up , it will get into the groove and fall on the keelson by itself. You then need to secure it up with a line from the bow until you attach the forestay. ruclips.net/video/sNjiKApTR_4/видео.htmlsi=qnnJ3__wMj2VKo5f ruclips.net/video/5hjk8fzmy6w/видео.htmlsi=KkeB31fN6WwX4_F9 All the best! 😊
@@OldJong thank you!! I've been looking for videos on raising this mast for a while! Yes, I tried raising it with no lines connected....very dangerous indeed. Thanks a lot!
@@CamKenyon-pn3mh Yes! The shrouds helps a lot in keeping the mast stable. The higher it gets, the easier it gets! The trick is to get used to getting a good push up at the beginning while keeping good pressure with the base on the wall over the keelson. Good luck! 😊
Wind or no wind … any day on the water is a good day! Great musical accompaniment! ⛵️😄
Thanks John! No wind?.... Thats what my oars are for!...😉

I forgot! Always attach the shrouds before raising the mast. The mast's base should be under the deck before.
