I was one of the absolute last generation of conscript soldiers in Hungary. My memories about BTR 80 are a mixed bag. It's fun to see it in a game like this.
I've noticed that it does worse in a down tier, hard to kill tiger IIs and other big German tanks. Higher you go though things seem to get light... aside from Russian vehicles, but those are on your side.
That's how it is. You do face bois with thicker armor at the lower BRs making autocannons a bit more difficult to use. Most of the really armored heavies are Russian not counting stuff like the Maus, T32s, and so on.
A fun thing about the btr is its so long and boyuent that you can drive in the water and shoot even though it doesn't have a stabilizer also it's very fast in the water compared to other amphibious vehicles
I've been waiting for years to get BTRs in the game. Happy to see this finally being a reality. Hopefully they'll come a BTR-90/BTR-90M. One can dream..
I've actually been running this alongside the T-55a at 8.0 and it performs just as well if not better (for me.) People just go oblivious to any fast moving wheeled vehicle.
Late ww2 vehicles really shouldn't be facing contempary/cold war era vehicles, I wish more people weren't okay with it in WT but I'm called a fool for wanting the eras separated within reason.
I think that the BTR-60PB (14.5mm kpvt hmg variant) woukd be a cool addition to the game. The problem I see with that is how they would balance a vehicle that goes 80 kmh, with a gun that has a max pen of 49mm
Or other variants of the BTR-60 that would be a cool addition to the the game would be the variants of BTR that have dual 23mms. The Iranians put a ZU-23 on the top of a BTR-60, or the Ukrainians who have a turret with dual AZP-23 cannons. Just some cool Ideas for the game

I think you mean when he said the Sturer Emil will become worse when the br becomes lower because the there are less armor on enemies and the fuse is 1.2m so it won’t explode here 9:11
It seems like the odds of facing full uptier vehicles is increased after economy update. When I play russia 8.0 i'm facing 9.0 -8.7 with thermals.9 out of 10 matches I played yesterday are fillef with full uptier teams. I'm not sure if gaijin did it knowingly in order to justify increased rewards.
Tinfoil hat. 8.0 is just one of the soviet br's that gets uptiered a lot, much like 7.0 bleeding into 7.3 due to the vehicle lineups. 8.0 does the same for 8.3 and 8.7, especially with the premiums at 8.7 so. I've been playing the T55A at 8.0 before and after the patch and there's been no difference.
Because 8-9 is absolutely Russian bieased so no one want to play other nations in this tier so you get up tiert to play otherwise you can wait a lot...
The main issue is skill issue. Every game in War Thunder has like at most 3 vehicles on each team that are at the BR the game is at and the other 90% of the lobby are at lower BRs with the vast majority at a “full uptier” it’s just cope. “Full uptiers” are your tier. You’re just bad and think you deserve to only vs vehicles that are worse than you cause you’re bad
It honestly does matter how low tanks like Sturer emil go, even if tanks get a faster reload, they also get increasingly innaccurate, smaller caliber (Less damage), lower muzzle velocity, worse engines, worse gunsights, and whatever else the lower you go. The statement about the Sturer Emil is simply not true. Getting long range and accurate shots at 3.3-3.7 sometimes can be seemingly impossible depending on what tank.
That thing bounced a Rocket of my swedish ush, a quarter second after it bounced the game realize it was a heat rocket and it exploded in de air and killed it.
Just a small correction, its not the first BTR added to the game. Theres also the BTR-152A armed with the KVPT that plays as a SPAA, and the BTR-ZD ( also plays as SPAA )
Against other light tanks, in a fair fight where neither of u were able to anticipate the other, this thing absolutely blows U can't target a weasel or even a marder to save ur life ever and that new autoracket thing... 😔 I'll be a full 20° away from even getting the gun on them and theyve already torn/blown me to bits while on the move If ur standing still or more or less expect them yeah ok it's a different story but that not the most common situation The mobility is also buns but eh i get that
Do you not have OBS setup so your microphone channel and game channel are separate? Really saves your ass when your mix is bad but you can adjust the volume of each channel independently
do the grind from stock then have a thought about it ye its great when you've unlocked it but is it not the best when stock bouncing stock rounds on lep A1 from 100m away :(
I pierced 2 of this thing with 1 shell. and also I did it on 2 fking game. everyone just hop in this thing and get confident boost rushing to cap apparently.
I've met it twice so far. Killed me both times. T92/M41 got main gun hit (APCR) and sprayed with 50cal, one time nose to tail, and it still killed me with a quick burst. It's gonna be the new Puma.
I hate this with every atom. Every game I play 7.0 Russia, at least 5 players start with it, and they die straight up. Putting the whole team at a disadvantage.

Vulnerable to 7.62....with a useless gun at 7.3. Theres a ton of tanks at this BR that have side armor over 80, and even if its less then 80 you still may not pen.

So the thing that is 1.3 BR higher than the R3, has no stabilizer, is slower in top speed and fire rate, is twice the size, and also has no armor is OP? The only advantage it has is 18mm more pen and scouting ability. I have only had a few games with multiple kills in it, most of the time I get murdered by marders. Compare it to the marder or BMP 1 in capabilities and get back to me about it being OP

I have some difficulty dealing with this in most vehicles but in the marder it’s no issue cause of its lolpen armour.

These things are pretty tasty in my marder. I love this thing tho, I have played in it in other games. Haven’t unlocked it yet though

the BTR-152 and the BTR-80 are completely different vehicles. The "BTR" as most people think of it, is the BTR-80 style.

The only reason to use this over the Praga is because of the mobility. This thing is worse in every other regard

A Marder is way better because it has a Missiles, a Bradley also has missiles and is better in most situations
