Global health (and public health) is truly multidisciplinary and leans on epidemiology, health economics, health policy, statistics, ethics, demography.... the list goes on and on. This RUclips channel is here to provide you with some teaching and information on these topics. I've also posted some videos on how to find work in the global health space and how to raise money or get a grant for your projects.
Please feel free to leave comments and questions - I'll respond to all of them (we'll, I'll try to at least). Feel free to make suggestions as to future content for the channel.

A true teacher is someone who reduces ignorance and reveals knowledge and makes the student (listener, viewer, what have you) reach a higher plane of understanding and doing. Greg, thank you for being an outstanding teacher and an inspiration!
Thanks for those very kind words of encouragement! I really appreciate it!
Thank you very much, SIR!
It's refreshing to find a video explaining this without a script where the delivery is actually natural and not horribly robotic
Thanks for the feedback Akino :)
I am a Global Health graduate student, and I am so glad I found you. I've watched a couple before, but now I'm definitely subscribing!
Thanks Whitney - I'm really glad to hear that you're finding the videos helpful. I'll be posting some more 'teaching' videos very soon (so watch this space).
You are awesome,I am a microbiologist trying to wrap my head around the clinical stuff and this is such a booster!
You make everything simple and easy to understand. Thank you Sir Greg
Thanks for the feedback Rahmatsyah
This video in particular was outstanding for helping my students grasp the difference between qual and quant. Keep it up.
Thanks for the comment. Students do something find the difference between qualitative and quantitative research a little tricky. Glad to be able to help a little.
Of particular use were the example questions, what why where etc. Spot on criteria tools.
seriously.. best thing is your videos are extremely short and super useful!
thank you very much for sharing :)
MeMz Ash thanks for the comment - please feel free to let me know if there are other videos that you'd like me to do.
Thank you sir! ^_^
Actually, Im studying this as part of research course at college, so anything regarding research proposal would be amazing 🙈🙈
Thank you again! :)
MeMz Ash I have a video on how to do a research proposal on my channel - have a look around for it (if you don't find it let me know and I'll send you the link).
This is a great simplified intro to this topic. Thank you.
I have been asked to teach research methods to a department of non-researchers. Wondering if i should just play your channel during a seminar and sit in the corner. Job done. You have done a fine job here!
haha, very funny Suzanne!
brilliant sir...m 4th yr med. student in Pakistan....epidemiology and biostat was a head ache ,but now it will go smooth....
You’re absolutely outstanding teacher, my professor is really uncooperative and always criticising us harshly & never taking in consideration what you did even if you give 10 times more of what he asked he would give you the lowest mark possible. I’m studying research methods on my own now because of his short comings
Thanks indeed, Greg! It's really helpful what you present in this brief introduction about Research Methods
I have gotten more interested in watching more videos of you relating to the subject matter!
+Raouf Ali thanks for the comment. I'm going to create a few more videos soon - so watch this space. Happy day. Greg

This was exactly what I was looking for!! Simple, Clear, to the point and very enthusiastic👍 Hope to follow more of your videos. Really helpful
You're very welcome! Glad it was helpful! :)
Quantitative and qualitative research methods are the two most popular for management purposes. Usually a mix of the two are used, however qualitative methods are often the most effective for the purposes of researching the more subjective aspects of human behaviour for example.
Brief and straight to the point
Thanks for the comment Ibrahim (much appreciated). Glad you liked it.
This video helps students have a clear overview about research methodology with ease. Thank you. :D

Perfect Synopses
Dr Greg, may I know why is survey considered qualitative research methods? Thanks!
Thankyou very much..The lecture is well packaged..it has simplified my understanding and view of research methods
Thank you for your informative videos. I'm trying to understand the research methods analyzing an article that is based on a collection of surveys and interviews, participants aged between 12-24yrs, observing how heavily they had been consuming alcohol in the last 30 days, from what I watched on your video, it's case study that's retrospective so it sounds right to me. Thank you Dr Martin.
+tjmc1122 Thanks for the comment. Be careful that you don't confuse survey data with case control studies (not sure if you have). I have a video on case control studies. Essential, they use cases (that have an outcome of interest) and controls (that don't) and data is gathered (usually from a history) regarding their respective 'exposures' - good luck.
Thank you so much
superb..conceptual..time saving.
Thanks for the comment Hazrat - much appreciated.
Wonderful presentation! On my! as struggling on this, our made it so clear for mi!!!!!!

Thank you so much. Awesome and easy to understand
Glad you found it helpful!! Thanks for the feedback.
Hi Martin, the methods of writing a introduction to an research is confusing for me. I have been through, a lot of "RUclips" videos with regards to this and yet I have found them all very different in method and steps can you suggest something helpful?
Thanks!
+khalid shinwari Thanks for the question: I'm not sure if this will answer your question but to my mind, the most important thing about a research project is being clear about your research question. If nothing else, your introduction should focus on the question, and explain why its an important question. Hope that helps.
Great explanation. Terrific
Lol @ the closed caption at 2:45. "clicking (unintelligable)" ...I turned on the CC to understand what you said, and the CC didnt know either. haha
haha - I think that what I said was "collecting data in that sense" (sorry about the South African accent)
No need for apology! The information was still understood, just found that one part humorous. The video was quite helpful!
great staff, i have a question though. on types of studies, you mentioned the ecological. can you please explain a bit about the ecological fallacy
thanks for the comment Sandisiwe Mlotshwa - if I understand it correctly, the ecological fallacy is making the mistake of assuming that because a relationship between an exposure and an outcome exists at the level of a large group (like at a country level) that the same relationship exist at an individual level (or in smaller group). It is a mistake to assume a causative relationship just because a correlation is observed.
@@gregmartin This helps me greatly to understand the concept of ecological fallacy. I have an article to share and discuss with you on this topic. Kindly let me know how I can get it across. Thanks. Als @Sandisiwe, thanks for asking the question.
It was really easy to understand .
Glad I could help :)

Hi Orchids - it depends on what your research question is. I have other videos about this (which may help).
