  • Here is a review of the RUIXIN PRO RX-008 knife sharpener.
    It is an inexpensive fixed angle manual sharpener.
    You can buy a range of different grit diamond and ceramic whetstones from 240 - 10000.
    I would recommend you buy the diamonds stones as they won't break so easily.

    I've got one of these on the way. Can't wait to sharpen and polish all my gear and kitchen knives with a fixed angle up to a 10,000 grit mirror finish.

    Angle setting, use straws to slide over the vertical rod under your arm, then you can have different ones to quickly set different angles. A small rubber o ring on the travel arm is nice as a stop too, bit smoother when it hits the stop. :) Wish sell diamond stones up to 3000 for peanuts.
    You set that angle wrong, use the knife blade not the casting that isn't in line, then your angles won't change.

    I needed a Camping knife that can be used for a variety of different tasks.
    Out of all the models in this line, this one is perfectly balanced that I got. It does not handle or blades heavy and in my opinion, the Camp knife is a combo fighting/Bushcraft Knife. The blade profile is suited for many Bush tasks, camping, survival, and tactical. It is a razor blade and holds the edge. The sheath is on point! Very well made. I purchased it from Almazan Knives, a great seller.

    My second view. This was helpful. I bought a standard whetstone kit and I have difficulty keeping a precise angle. This will help.

    This is great for the average person. Nobody is going to spend $600+ on a Wicked Edge, Edge Pro or KME to sharpen $30 worth of Walmart knives.

      Exactly! if you are a knife fanatic and want the sharpest razors edge this is not for you. But if you are a home cook with a set of reasonable knives and want to keep them sharp and don't want to shell out a chunk of money to get them professionally sharpened this is excellent.

      @Cool Products reviews I have very nice kitchen knives that I have bought over the yrs. Unfortunately I have been disappointed with sending out so now I'm looking at everything. I've also considered the tormek t-8 because of the multi use. Scissors, chisels,...etc. trying to make a smart buy but it difficult. T-8 is so expensive but it might be the way to go.

      Over the years I have invested in very expensive kitchen knives. 80 to 250 range. Unfortunately I'm not impressed sending out. So I would spend 500 on something worth while, just hesitant to pull the trigger cause I don't want junk. I've looked at wicked edge, just not for me and to pricey for what it is.

      @@pete3882 Other than the diamond abrasive wearing completely off on a couple stones after a while, I've been very happy with my KME.
      However, if I had it to do over again today, I'd be seriously considering the Worksharp Precision Adjust (around $60), or the edge pro. Don't settle. Get what you want. KME is still a great option tho. 👍

    I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm ruclips.net/user/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.

    Tried to shim the small screws with washers. Still didn’t work . I own 2 of these Ruixin’s. They are both off 3 to 4 degrees on the flip. Also you should have mentioned, this exact product is being sold under many names. Anywhere from $38 on Amazon To Wasabi for $130. Same exact product. You may have noticed Wasabi has omitted the Comments Section . Wonder Why ,Hmmm !!

    Horl2 rolling sharpener is easy and good result.

      I have not tried it.
      It might be good but it's pretty expensive.
      Costs between €100 and €300 for the set and additional grit discs cost €40-60.
      That's more then an entire Ruixin pro system.
      For the same price as the Horl you could consider a Lansky deluxe or an Edge pro apex system.
      Also the Horl only has two set angles.

    I went through the setup process and was fine with the minor angle differences; however I noticed that the actual angle of the knife blade was off by 5 degrees from one side to the other. While it still gets very sharp, the edge is not in the center of the steel. Have you heard of a solution for this?

      Hi, yes this happens a lot with this sharpener. It might be a bad batch or just incorrect assembly when they sent it out.
      You can try adjusting the screws on the knife clamping bit. You need to tighten one side and lossen the other side until you can get it centred.
      But note that even when you do this it might not be dead centre. If this is the case you might have to get some very thin rubber of plastic washers and place them on the inside of the knife clamp screws to adjust them.

    I wish you had done your sharpening motions exactly the same pre and post sharpening. Before you were slice cutting across the grain and after you were slice cutting somewhat with the grain.

    The inconsistent angle between each side has been a known problem, the arm angle is said to be 15% but the clamp's angle, hence the blade angle is not. To get the same straight angle on both side of the blade, I measure the angle of the blade and adjust the angle of the sharpening arm to your desired angle. for instance, if you want 15% and the blade angle is 3%, then set the sharpening arm angle to 12%. After you flipped the knife to the other side, repear the process.

      I found the the angle was the same on both side. When I mount the knife centered on the edge the angle is consistent. However, I did find using my magnifier on my phone and matching the stone to the edge it works better.

    On Amazon, in the opinions of this Chinese sharpener , it is written that this buckle does not hold the angle after turning. In addition, they write that these stones are of poor quality and often come broken.

      @@Palmotron yes for many sellers the sharpener comes with very poor quality ceramic whetstones that are often broken due to poor packaging. You are better off getting the diamond stones as they are much better and will not arrive broken as they are not ceramic but they are more expensive. There are of course good quality ceramic whetstones too but you have to look for a reputable seller and again they will cost more.

      there is also this plastic worksharp at a similar price, but you can not buy anything separately there and with the entire upgrade it is not so cheap anymore

      @@Palmotron if you buy the lansky with official diamonds it will be better but also a lot more expensive.
      When I mean better the stones wil be more uniform and last longer and as the lansky is set angles you should get a more consistent edge. The ruixin does allow for adjustable angles if you need that but i have to admit that the set up will take longer to get right then the lansky.

    The only angle that matters is the angle between the sharpening stone and the knife! The angle between the clamp holder and the bench is not relevant.

    Can you sharpen something as small as a 58mm swiss army knife on that too?

      yes that should be possible. The knife will have to be clamped to one end of the vice and then you can sharpen it.

      @@henrilebovic5229 I just check and a Gerber clutch multitool which has a 5cm blade can be clamped to the vice. But the problem is you will not be able to sharpen the tip as the clamp is in the way.

      With the WE you need 2 stones of each grit which adds significantly to the cost if you use many grits of decent quality. I initially purchased one of these to cannibalise and use the components to make my own but after receiving it and noting its limitations I decided to tune it instead. With a total cash outlay of £70/$90 for the Ruixin, a set of 10 diamond stones (up to 3,000 grit) and an investment of 5-10 mins of work I’ve got a system that sharpens easily to scalpel sharpness every time and with a small amount of extra work, stopping gives me a mirror edge.

    what's the maximum knife thickness it can hold? can it handle 6mm thick knife?

      Looking at the knife clamp opening it has a maximum fit of 4 mm so 6 mm might be pushing it.
      But it depends on the profile of you knife if you are saying the spine is 6mm and it tapers to the edge then it should fit as the clamp tapers too and allows for wider spines.
      But if you talking about a really chunky knife like a sword or machete then it might be possible to replace the existing clamp screws with longer ones which will allow it to open wider.

    My Ruixin is HORRIBLE. There is a 4º difference between the A side and the B side. The clamp is so poorly designed that three of m folding knives slip out of alignment before I can finish an edge. I can do a better job Free Hand. Do not buy this junk.

      100% true. I forgot to wet the stone when filming this.
      But I believe that diamond stones can be used dry?
      The ceramic ones should definitely be wet for better edge.

    This thing is total junk. Youhave to tighten everything with pliers or it falls apart and it is difficult to establish the angle and then when you flip the blade you have to rest the angle or it will be off by a couple of degrees. The stones are decent enough and mine came with an extra set of unmounted ones. It is a pain to mount your blade in the clamp with all the set screws. This is a total piece of garbage and I'm glad I didn't pay more than $25 for mine. I now use the Worksharp Precision Elite and with a few inexpensive aftermarket accessories and a good set of bonded diamomd stones, and a kangaroo leather strop, it is a gem and simple and easy to use and sharpens any knife to a surgical sharp edge. Don't waste your money on this Ruixon Pro. Just buy a couple of inexpensive stones and sharpen by hand.

      yes there are a couple russian guys with good videos explaining how the knife is supposed to be clamped in properly. it can be off a few degrees if you dont have it seated in right.

    Kid, stone sharpeners are soaked in water before use. You can see you didn't do it after what they look like. You have no idea about sharpening.

    You need to make one sweep across the blade not 3 and you need to go against the knife edge not with the knife edge when you sharpen
