Ahhhh, beautiful simplicity and complexity in melodic harmony; balanced hand in hand! What better way to study and apply music theory and still make music all while never missing a beat or moment of intuitive inspiration is there than this. Simply amazing!
josephknightcom lmao yeah I did botch that. This is why I always try to comment from my mac and not my phone. I love his voice. I'll edit my post. thank you
Your only fooling yourself. apart from the automation and device routing options, that's all reasons got. There are tons more daws that a more powerful than it. Reaper costs a fraction of the price and has much more useful and powerful features than reason. a license for reaper is about £60 and all upgrades are free. It can work from a usb flash drive so you can LITERALLY take your studio with you anywhere. It can be scripted extended and customized to your hearts content, LITERALLY. The powerful SWS extensions give you more freedom than you would ever need. On top of reapers all ready powerful flexible workflow.
I'm a reaper user and it is boring compared to stuff like this. This is so exciting, creative and would be a pleasure to experiment with. i'm going to buy it
A creative person sees only the potential. They take whatever it is and they create something unique and interesting. People who expect everything to fit what they know are not creative people.
@@PhaseDynamic this isn't a binary problem, the value in reason obviously lies in some pretty solid effects and some INCREDIBLE instruments, especially now, go look up how much you'd have to pay for seperate vsts of a large sounding wavetable synth (europa), a very flexible and useful granular synth (grain), let alone sampled pianos and whatever else reason has, the daw aspect of reason defintely can be lacking and I hope they can improve on it because the pitch correction and these players are incredibly cool, but the value in reason is absolutely there
So I never got reason 9 and just upgraded to 10... Didn't care about players much, but this Note Echo is really really awesome. Like, I have never said "woah, that's cool" watching a product demo ever. Simple, yet complex. I like it
Thank you Propellerheads for adding these features. Similar features were already available in competitor's products. But, the Reason UI works best for me.
I like the way you've used the scales interface to tune the Echo. I also liked how you doubled the bass part so easily. And the way you can really change the sound of one voice into multiple. All great ideas.
This is the one player I really need to work with more. Gonna experiment today. Couple of things that'd be nice; an option to override note echoes with MIDI input (currently a bit weird with monophonic synths). Also a mode where the pitch can be manually set per echo. Loving R9 still - just finished a 15 track production music library with it and it was an absolute joy to work with. Been recommending to everyone!
Ready for the weirdest thing you'll hear today!?? Someone has ACTUALLY made a vocaloid speech synth of Frank's voice. It's called Big Al and people like to make cover songs with it. This is legit Frank's voice used here: ruclips.net/video/vhSViyqFN00/видео.html
This whole time I had a strummer inside of reason that I didn't know about!!! This is going to my idea starter template thank you ! On every track from here on.lol
you can alway turn a file into midi or wav , wav to midi loop to anew phrase melody ,vise versa . This is a great video in showing what this new devices can do , im very tempted into using reasons latest version 9.0 yet im still very pleased with reason 6.0 sequencer and the results i get. Thanks for sharing this great video propellerheads community . .
Looks like a great tool, there are midi FX's on S1 and Cuabse too, with cubase chord track I can achieve great result by playing single keys and transform them into nice chords (inside the song key), however no doubt, I want this midi FX in my DAW
Loving this stuff. Already saved a remix of a boring three-chord tune with some fresh chief ideas I stumbled on with this module. Hope one day Props consider a preference that starts all rack units in reset state so it's not necessary to reset them manually each time.
Greyler's already got you covered with explaining how to set that preference up. For my tutorials I leave it in the default state and reset on screen so that people new can follow along without wondering how I got to the Initialized Patch straight away. But yeah, the preference is already there for you like Greyler described. /ryan
Is it possible to use the players to alter audio effects, rather than tweak the midi? For example, I like to mess around with vocals by "playing" them using the pitch transformer, and playing in midi on a keyboard to alter the pitch adjustment on the fly. Is there a way to insert a player somewhere in that chain, so I could play the vocal with interesting chords and harmonies? (something like "hide and seek" by Imogen Heap, if you will).
You absolutely can. This is a great question and it caused me to come up with a new method than I've previously thought of doing to get this effect - and now I've spent the last 3 hours making a new song so THANKS!!! :D The only trick you need to know is that Neptune needs to be in a combinator so you can apply the Player to the combinator. Neptune is officially an effect so it won't accept a Player above it but it responds to MIDI so if you just put it in a combinator and put a play on that you get instant Imogen Heap live chords. And it's FUN! I'll probably show this technique in an upcoming tutorial so stay tuned if you want to see me do it. :) /ryan
Actually I made a quick and dirty video to demonstrate this for you! Check out the video I put on my personal youtube channel: ruclips.net/video/RqFAOuYJaWY/видео.html
Hello from the future, if I were to use the new chord sequencer with the note echo as a strum showed in this video, would I put the note echo first or second ? ❤️ Thanks
Is it possible to do a video whereby you have one Scales and Chords device and you can automate on the sequencer so you can shift into different key changes. That would be awesome. Just upgraded to Reason 9. Thanks Guys, you've turned my creativity right around to opening Reason and grabbing a synth or Piano and making a tune as easily as making a cup of tea, haha!
Loving the features added to reason 9. Incredible stuff. I may just never use cubase again,if not for the reason sequencer. I really do not like it and still prefer the way the cubase sequencer UI looks and works
I think Reason Studios will sell tons of Reason 11 licenses thanks to the vst version, not the standalone. This is the most powerful procedural virtual sound machine on the planet for our daw.
Whenever I open Note Echo it opens with Piano ID8 automatically? how do I open only the Note Echo without the Piano opening automatically? is there a reason is doing this?
Yes but a special type of delay. Normal delays repeat the audio signal... Note Echo repeats the note event itself. That can create a similar traditional delay effect if you want it to - or it can do other things we explore in the video. /ryan
Meh, Live can already do this quite easily! ;) ... of course I'd have to build it first myself using Max for Live but ey, details! (and come up with the idea) ;) This is awesome! I can't wait to have a go with this tomorrow evening combined with Push, it should be awesome :)
They always skip over the most important parts..."when you press your keyboard note echo will double the note"... HOW DO YOU SET UP YOUR KEYBOARD??????

Chords song good cause I totally forgot my music theory. I'm too old. Now even lizard people can make good tracks. Rather than their attempts at human music.
Seriously, this can be done by picking up an instrument and play it normal, or use the utilities already included in Reason. I really don't see the point of these players if you know just a tiny bit about how to play any instrument. Take the dual arpeggiator for an example, you could through in two arp8 in a combinator, put them on two different rates and there you go... Scales and chords? There's already some much cheaper rack extensions that works the same way, like the Auto harmony or CV-tuner. And once again, if you can play chords, why on earth would you need a device who'll do it for you? It is however, some smart tools Propellerhead have created, I'm not saying this is totally stupid, I just think that for the price of the upgrade for Reason 9, maybe you could save that money and buy a nice rack extension instead.I am going to explore them some more, and maybe it'll make me regret ever saying this is somehow not a revolution, but for now, don't get the point.

Hay, this Reason is evolving. Now we got this functions. Then we will get others... You have to understand how the software developing is working. +Johnathan Jocavich So they need to cater to you? When you say, "working on something that people actually wanted," I assume you mean what *YOU* want? I love Reason, and I'm very happy with it's progress over the years. Now if they could only please you.
I'm buying reason based on these awesome "Gimmicks" alone. To me the music is just a vehicle for carrying my melodic vocal. The quicker i can get something down to sing over the better. However i also want the music to sound interesting and with these gimmicks it will be.
Useless to you perhaps. The rest of us find performance tools like these incredibly inspiring. As the video shows, it still takes time and effort to build a good sounding song; There's nothing magical about it.

This is genius on a different level. And combining that scales and chords with note echo. Damn.

FACTS
Only finding this after 4 years, never knew I owned this all along... Time to get creating!
There isn't a subject on Earth I couldn't learn if it was taught in his voice.
Pretty insulting. I thought his voice was quite professional.
+josephknightcom that's my point. Read what I said again.
You don't understand what you've typed. If you're going to write songs, perhaps steer away from triple negatives.
josephknightcom lmao yeah I did botch that. This is why I always try to comment from my mac and not my phone. I love his voice. I'll edit my post. thank you
Cool. Good attitude. Good luck with your creative endeavors.
The new features are not "gimmicks" as some are claiming. It is simply a continuation of making Reason a Swiss army knife for more types of users.
+Reg Rodgers Some people can't (and refuse to) be pleased. Reason is hands-down, the best musical tool out there. Period.

Great tutorial and wow, Note Echo is something I've been looking for. I just upgraded Reason.
Thank you Propellerheads for adding these features. Similar features were already available in competitor's products. But, the Reason UI works best for me.
insanely good midi guitar sound. as a guitarist i cringe at even the thought of midi guitar presets, but this unlocks so much potential
dayum. im gonna have to watch this a few more times. its impressive you can do all that with just 4 knobs and a pattern matrix thingy
Brilliant showcase of note echos capabilities certainly something I will be playing with.
Been using reason since v2. These tutorials r effin great!
I like the way you've used the scales interface to tune the Echo. I also liked how you doubled the bass part so easily. And the way you can really change the sound of one voice into multiple. All great ideas.

Hahahahahaha :) dammm close! I want this is reason style! Right now? Guys! Time to make speech synth with Frank preset!
BTw thanks for the Reason 9! Nice job! I'am a Propellerhead user from the time of Rebirth. Greetings from Berlin!
Excellent showcasing of the Note Echo, it's been the one player I haven't really experimented with before. That'll change for sure now.
Nice subtle Kimmy Schmidt ref. I see what you did there.
This whole time I had a strummer inside of reason that I didn't know about!!! This is going to my idea starter template thank you ! On every track from here on.lol

I'd rather fear the person who mastered this gimmick than the person who called this a gimmick.

👍
I totally underestimated Note Echo 😳
Yahh!

Complicated AF but really good

man this is goona suck if note eho is a matrix whit a deley or a revurbed
is it only me, or in the end the sound is really bad?
God I wish I was 16 again, but with $399
finally note echo become another chord player....anyway that player has nothing to do with echo..
or its a arpeggiator
3 people don't believe in happy accidents... :(
...errr...make that 7...and counting
Quanto what lol
ok ok, have my money and shut up :)
Reason is the worst purchase ever.
