  • A lot of very mean Timberwolves fans have a lot of very mean things to say about Jeff Teague. "He's not as good as his brother", "His All-Star selection was undeserved", "I'd rather have Aaron Brooks", "He gets help from the league in the form of spurious assists". I haven't actually seen any Minnesota fan say any of those things except maybe the second one, but I know they're all thinking them. And that's just the safe-for-work ones. You don't even want to know the full depravity of their opinions on Teague.
It's kind of blowing my mind right now that he's averaging 8.4 assists per game. I guess that ties in with the "He gets help from the league in the form of spurious assists" opinion, but still. That's a lot of assists, even if a bunch of them are just entry passes to Karl Anthony-Towns post-ups that result in a bucket five seconds later. I mean, there are only 5 players in the whole league averaging more assists per game: Westbrook, Lowry, Wall (RIP), Harden, and Holiday (the Jrue version). That's some good company to be in, for sure. Notice that Chris Paul is not on that list; Teague is averaging more assists than the best PG ever to play the game.
So, Timberwolves fans, if you could stop hating on him all the time that would be perfect. He's a flawed player, but you've got bigger problems preventing you from making the playoffs. I'll let you figure out what they are, but I'll give you a hint for the main one: KBD.
