Hey look I am 45 years of age and seen 3 decades of music videos but this is the best music video I have ever seen and compliments the song brilliantly. Fantastic stuff love it.
This song is SO incredibly underrated. The way they sampled and meticulously blended several genres of music is breathtaking. I had completely forgotten about this hit until a few days when I heard it while shopping at Lowe's. It made me reminiscent of Hip Hop before it evolved into "big business" and everyone sounding the same.
Too bad people dont appreciate how incredibly creative this production was. Taking all those genres and making something that doesnt fall apart/sound contrived is a feat in itself. But to make something as fun and jammy as that is ridiculous. I definitely am inspired by this song.
This song became hugely popular in the U.S. when it was used in a Mitsubishi commercial in 2001. We all had to shut up and be quiet when it came on. They had another good one called “Ooh La La.”
i grew up listening to this song ! i was released in 2004, so i was itty bitty when this video was even uploaded onto youtube, but it ignited a love for sampling in me that has only gotten brighter ! face to face by daft punk is my fave song of all time, and i wouldn't have appreciated it nearly as much without start the commotion teaching me (in a way, thanks to the simplicity of the video) how sampling works ! little baby me thought the song was broken when it repeated itself, but after a few more watches of the video, i understood that it was just puzzle pieces put together ! such a lovely song, i owe so much of myself to it !
The mod-suited trio singing... blondie on the left... is that actor Samuel West? Perhaps best known as Mr. Elliot in 1995 "Persuasion." He has some singing in his career background but I couldn't find anything from the year of this song.
@@tiger1chu oh, Him! It could be possible... someone pointed out that the chorus guy on the right and clapping man (1:03) look a lot like Mike and Noel Fielding. There's a high chance it could be all three of them. But unfortunately there is very few info online about the video
It's rare to see a visual representation of the sampling process, and it's damn cool.
underrated comment
