I find it rather difficult to (re)turn my attention to anything else having had a Le Mans like this. Atmospheric like an ancient tale. Merci beaucoup :)
My father who passed last year was a proud Englishman from the Bristol area (Somerset County to be specific) . He passed last May in Cambria, California a USA village based on England (on so many places in the world are) and a gorgeous place that I hope you all get to see in your lifetimes at the south end of Big Sur. My father, a meat cutter who worked his way to manager at a Safeway in Los Angeles was somehow able to woo my beautiful model mom (but I looked like him - lol) with a Jaguar XK 140 that he bought new in 1955. As of yesterday this car is in my garage in Lake Oswego, Oregon and I promise with all my heart to cherish this precious car as my father had for the past 65 years. It's amazing how he could own the world's fastest production car (of the day) on a meat cutter's salary is beyond me. Proof that if you set your mind to something, you can achieve it, so dream big brothers and sisters. Merry Christmas and may God Bless us all :)
I have driven through LeMans and been to the motor museum many times before the Autoroute. Always Gendarmes on the Mulsanne. great place for scrambled eggs just after Mulsanne. Lived in France for 18 years but never been to the race.
Back to Le Mans in June for 12 days, only missed six races in 41 years , must be getting old. Tate, of Tate and Lyle fame, had Aston's right up until he had a Ferrari Daytona in 1970.

Duncan Hamilton won this le mans while drunk on brandi :p
With Tony Rolt in a C type
It depends on who you want to believe: Tony Rolt and Lofty England said that it wasn't the case. Mr. Hamilton embraced the story.
