Politicians? No. None of them can think in that long term, most think only about next year, some maybe 1-2 years ahead, small precentage maybe 3-4 years+ (and a lot of those will be in the pockets of multinational corporations anyway via various lobbying).

We vote for an MP (Minister of Parliament) in each electoral district (riding) who occupies a seat in the House of commons. A party can have the most seats as per party, but as you mentioned, be far outnumbered by opposition parties, and end up as a minority party...but they can entice another party or parties to back them in parliament and effectively operate as a majority party, which means no one gets what they voted for. Another catch is that for instance, my riding in a corner of Calgary has approx 100K population, but a riding in Toronto can have a riding of 20K, each equal in power with a seat in the HOC. Its crazy. The east (Ontario and Quebec) has 2/3 ish of the population, add in the Maritimes and the east wins every time, until it gets so bad that they (the east) vote out the Liberals in favour of the Conservatives who straighten the nation out fiscally until the liberals convince the east that we're all fascists, and they vote the Liberals back in to continue their destruction of a once fine nation. @@zeked4200 Youre correct. He hasnt won the majority of votes in 2 elections now. We vote for an MP (Minister of Parliament) in each electoral district (riding) who occupies a seat in the House of commons. A party can have the most seats as per party, but as you mentioned, be far outnumbered by opposition parties, and end up as a minority party...but they can entice another party or parties to back them in parliament and effectively operate as a majority party, which means no one gets what they voted for.
Another catch is that for instance, my riding in a corner of Calgary has approx 100K population, but a riding in Toronto can have a riding of 20K, each equal in power with a seat in the HOC. Its crazy.
The east (Ontario and Quebec) has 2/3 ish of the population, add in the Maritimes and the east wins every time, until it gets so bad that they (the east) vote out the Liberals in favour of the Conservatives who straighten the nation out fiscally until the liberals convince the east that we're all fascists, and they vote the Liberals back in to continue their destruction of a once fine nation.
I could go on and on.
I know American politics is sketchy too, but in comparison, youre doing JUST FINE
