Super helpful. I've been using Toneden, but getting frustrated with the lack of analytics and annoyed that paying $50 a month doesn't really get me any better features. Will probably switch to Hypeddit next time. Thanks for making the video!
Thanks Andrew! Question for you. Is there any benefit to using these smart link platforms vs creating your own landing page and setting up your own analytics? Thanks!

Hey Andrew, thanks for the advice. But got any advice on promoting playlists and growth? Which service would be best? I'm assuming there's different factors involved, as compared to promoting artists
I wish you had spoke about a smart link called Linkfire to see the specs about that as well because I see a lot of mainstream artist using it. Still on the fence with which one to choose, but thanks for the tips! Another awesome video!
Honestly linkfire is just too expensive. From what I’ve seen it’s over twice as expensive as feature FM and half the features. They have some unique aspects but you don’t get any of them until you hit their $100/month price ranges.
Would like to see a breakdown between the two because i feel like one of the most important features is the custom domain and with both companies, you have to have the plan that ends up being $50 a month. I’m curious which outweighs the other
@@angelleonpvd Linkfire seems good because it has something called territory management, so if you’re marketing to different countries with your Facebook ad campaigns, the streaming services for that person who views your ad will appear for the country the live in. For example, if you market to Egypt it will pull up all applicable streaming platforms like Anghami, Tidal, Spotify, etc automatically so that the conversion experience may be easier for the consumer. Great perk, thing is it’s in the $100 range like Andrew said. Thing is the price of a phone bill!
When it says "visits" and "link clicks onto a landing page is it technically a misnomer. Is "visit" technically not a link click in the grander scheme things and "link clicks" on a landing page are technically the conversion? Cuz hypeedit itself lacks the context of an ad platform?
It's really just a naming convention, and it depends what platform you're talking about. On Meta / Facebook ads a link click means they clicked on your ad, but on Hypeddit a link click means they converted and clicked to go to a DSP. For consistency I use link click to mean a click from Meta / Facebook, and conversion to mean that they click from the landing page to go to a DSP.
Honest question: is Toneden a legit and working site? Whenever I check it it gives me a lot of errors and when i check it with any online availability checker all of them says that the site is discontinued for about 2 years now. So it looks like a platform that is abandoned by it's creators. Am I missing something?
@@tmxband It definitely appears this way. I launched a campaign and go 0 results. Reached out to tech support about 15 days ago and no response. Sent multiple emails. No response. All socials look inactive for the last few years. For me this was a complete waste of money and I highly recommend no one waste their money with Tone Den
I use tonedon and I my campaign conversion rates be high. Then the landing page be very low. But my plays ok my songs from the cities I choose be be high also. I don’t know if it’s converting right or if it’s accurate enough. Even the FB ads show low conversions but the traffic be high. The landing page numbers be very low. What’s going on
You'd want to create your ads directly through Facebook. You can use a link like this for tour dates / show dates, but sometimes doing a traffic campaign directly to the ticket page works best. Or even an event response campaign. Running ads promoting shows is somewhat of a black magic. It does work, but its hard to track fully unless you're selling the tickets directly through your own website.
I appreciate your response. We just opened a music venue in Richmond, VA called Ember Music Hall and create ads through Facebook and tried many different ads but struggling to gauge what’s working best along with how much to spend.
It’s a solid service, the reason I don’t use it is because it doesn’t support a custom domain. Meaning you can’t get around the iOS 14 tracking rules, and your conversion campaigns won’t run to most iPhone users.
@@AndrewSouthworth I asked Hypeddit support about this issue and they assured me it is not really an issue anymore, but I was not sure I am convinced….how big of an issue is this in your opinion?
I actually had much better results in conversions with Toneden vs Hypeddit, at the moment. Still testing both together but: same ads, same all, except the landing page. Toneden conversions are reaching 70% while Hypeddit is stucked on 20-25%.
How does the cost per conversion compare though? I've found consistently Hypeddit has a much lower clickthrough rate, but I suspect its just how they count page views and not based on actual visits. Because when I do it the cost per conversion is generally the same, despite the massive difference in CTR.
@@AndrewSouthworth Actually they have similar cost per result, even if the ads going through Hypeddit have a slightly higher one. But mostly, I see less streams coming through.
@@AndrewSouthworth It seems can ToneDen support does not exist and it appears they have abandoned all their socials and any updates. I had a pretty horrible experience working with them. I'm curious if you had experience with customer support never responding back.
DistroKid does have a landing page tool called Hyperfollow but I don't typically use it. I use FeatureFM, Hypeddit, Smart Noise, SubmitHub links etc because they're more flexible and are specifically designed for running ads with.
Hey Andrew, did you ever experiment with advertising in the native language? That the caption of your ad is eg: french for france, german for germany etc?
Curious if you have any thoughts on Artist Hub - I love their deep links and Fallbacks.. I've heard that Feature FM ilinks are automatically deep linked but I am not sure how accurate that is. Would love your insight here.
I think you have to now pay for Toneden? It says free is only available for preview? Just spent hours working on this and dont want to pay $50. Can you confirm does the free version still work?
They have 'action pages' which can function like download gates and/or link gates. This is an area I think Hypeddit wins though, their download gates are much more fleshed out than FFM's.
My Snapchat ads were working great until October. Now I think there's something wrong with my ads account, but I signed up with Hyppedit using your affiliate link to try one last test because Toneden wasn't giving me enough data, and tracking data on my own website via Google Analytics got a little involved. I'll let you know if it ends up working for me.
Hey Hey Andrew - I am bumping up against the $50 ad spend limit per day for my band's business account on Facebook. Do you know of any workarounds for this? How do I get my limit increase and/or can I create another ad account?
Hey Andrew, hopefully you see this. I am a rapper, running ads. Your videos have helped me a lot but right now my cost per result is a whopping ONE DOLLAR. But I'm pretty sure its because I am selecting mainly english speaking countries. I only have maybe like 10 countries total. I was wondering if I shouldnt be doing that? It seems kind of counter intuitive to advertise to a place where my song is in a completely different language. Maybe it is something else I am doing wrong. I have set up multiple variations of the ads, I have done advanced targeting based on similar artists. I have hypeddit and my FB pixel setup etc. Do you know of any other ways to "beat the system" to get my CPR down? Thank you.
Unfortunately this isn’t how the music industry works. You can’t expect short term profits from anything, and I wouldn’t put this much into a single song for that reason. However if you spread that budget across 8 singles and an album, build an audience, a mailing list and produce physical copies of that album to sell you might be able to pull it off or get close.
Considering my own landing page on my own site. My own ad appeared on my facebook and I was curious to make sure everything was running smooth, so I clicked through. It was super slowwwww! I don't think it was my connection, but way too slow. That will lose a lot of people. Nobody is gonna wait that long. Anyone else having that issue? I've been using the free Toneden. Everything works, but it was just too slow. smh
