I have one of those 7" screens, it's able to do touch, and makes a cool second screen, or as part of a Raspberry project.

Of late, I have been watching the construction of some of the top ranked commercial amplifiers. One thing very unusual about RFK-2S is that it has many fans of various sizes and those are placed all over the enclosure, I thought that was a poor design notwithstanding the fact that, it is very fine amplifier with host of features...

If you do RTTY for a longer time, how long can you do things like key down before the amp stops with overheating or annoying fans. I´m really interested about it!

G/L with it. It was originally on the DXE website, but hasn’t been on for a while. Mark KB3Z

Hi Mark, I think it was available as a KIT from DXE, now it is assembled and no longer available from them, maybe FCC related. I was testing it out, it wasn't mine but it was pretty good. I watched a few videos on early versions that had blown PA and they were easy to change, I am sure as the firmware is developed the protection will overcome those early problems. A possible issue I noted was the PA was way more powerful than the PSU so it need to be limited and well protected for ICCAS modes compared to SSB modes. I didn't not note any issues when I was using it, worked very well and heaps of power.

@@vk3mh Thanks for the reply. If they are having power supply issues than that is a problem. And to add a heftier power supply would add more weight and make the unit much larger. Time will tell as to the ultimate future of this amp. I myself use the SPE 1.3K. Puts out 1100 to 1200 watts with little drive. Plus I don’t try and push it to it’s maximum range.

@@markgriffin2285 No issue with PSU, it is rated at 3.4KW but as the amp can draw 50-60 amps at 55v @ 1600w then that is 3300w and the amp PA is capable of producing much more power so the management of the RF power control on high duty cycle modes or peaks such as FT8 can push past the PSU to limit, where as on SSB it may only be 1/3 of the load. The SPE on the other hand has the reverse problem, the PA module is at its limit at 1500w and RF spikes such as IC7300 produces on SSB can blow it up easily as there is no overhead like the RF-Kit amp as it has 2 LDMOS rated at 1.8kw each (3.6KW).
