I love this show, it's just such a shame a lot of ST shows are being cancelled. We can only hope they do a better job in closing this story than they did with Enterprise.

It's really upsetting that Star Trek: Discovery is ending only after 5 seasons - they really needed more. But the journey from 2017 from Burnham gracing our screens to the final season has really been an amazing ride. LLAP crew of the Discovery.
I think they actually did impressively for getting 5 seasons in this day and age, a lot of successful series get rounded up by 3 seasons. I’d have loved to have got more too, but we know Paramount’s gone through merges that have required cutting costs as a result, they probably thought Discovery’s had a good run and instead focus on a few new series and shift to the big screen instead

Creatures are cool, the transporters look really dumb, they don't even have to target where they wanna be, they just hit the button and *boop* they're conveniently exactly where they wanted to be, it's just too easy. I hate action Trek so much.

They are 900 years into the future. There needs to be some technology advancements. I don't like the parts of ships that are separated out from the main body.
you can tell this season has like zero budget since they clearly filmed this scene during the day in a random quarry within the thirty mile zone and put a blue filter over it which is fair since season 4 basically wrapped up every characters personal arcs and this is just a last hurrah of sorts.
When they made this the final season Paramount actually gave them extra budget to respect a good send-off, maybe we’ll see that more in the final set of episodes

I loved the first 2 seasons. 3 & 4 had some interesting high points that I enjoyed as well. I'm very excited for this and s3 of Strange New Worlds.

@@shaykenway240Can't speak for him, but for me it didn't feel like Star Trek. It used to be (and with SNW, it is again) about small episodic events that only had relevance to their little corner of the universe, or ones that were plain silly like a musical episode on the Enterprise in SNW. Discovery, on the other hand, was all about universe-level stakes. It just didn't feel like Star Trek.
@@lorddcheddar Thank you for your comment. I kinda figured that what you say is why those that prefer SNW like it more. I still like Discovery more, probably because I feel like it's expanding the Galaxy and now "it's own galaxy" in the future. When you consider the capability of the Discovery (being able to teleport & having a self aware Ship's computer) the scale of its adventures has to be larger in scale. I personally hope they expand on the Sphere/Sphere Data. It'll be cool and interesting to find out that its the Discovery evovled. I'm predicting it now.
I feel like the show won't be appreciated as much as it should until its gone. I guess, I can't complain about 5 mostly good seasons. I hope Star Fleet Academy and Section 31 have a they're own good runs also. Although, honestly, I do think they're too quick to make a new show.
@@shaykenway240 This might be another case of Enterprise or DS9 where it isn't appreciated for what it is until after it's over, but I can't say it will be for me personally. It felt like it leaned more on the fi than the sci in the sci-fi. I might give it a rewatch because I stopped paying attention to it after they got sent through that portal to the future. If it's good, I might prefer it, but I stopped paying attention because it didn't feel like Star Trek to me.

I love Star Trek Discovery even watching reruns it still feels genuine like people, genuine family. No malicious bloodlust drama. Almost everyone redeemable. Although I like some plot lines more than others, overall Disco made me hopeful. Reality is a sad place.

It doesn't at all, that whole episode was based around language, this just looks like the two main characters trying activate something whilst being attacked. I guess every episode with The Jem'Hadar was also a play on that episode too.
First off, the episode just titled "Darmok" and second, what are you even talking about? A play because of a half invisible alien attacking? How about ANYTHING else besides that which shows any similar storytelling whatsoever? Do you even know what it means for something to be a play on something else?

@@cliffordterrell5524because Rotten Tomatoes isn’t a complete indicator, people who are adamant to complain tend to feed in to it but not necessarily as much silent fans… hence the continual viewership and engagement is more reliable, where Paramount recognises Discovery gets a lot of and hence successful (otherwise they’d have cancelled it by season 1).

I have finished all four seasons. Star Trek discovery is great. I have only watched the first season of strange new world. It could not compare the to discovery. I am not sure on what all the hype is about strong new world. Maybe it has improved with the second season. Nonetheless Discovery is great. Don’t listen to the negative comments on Star Trek discovery. Watch it and decide for yourself,

What is Booker's relationship with Michael really? Are they a couple, because they always say each other, or is it more like a friendship? I'm confused 🤔. With Ash Tyler, you knew they were lovers because everytime they were always kissing and hugging. You would always see them in bed together cuddling. Not with Book. They kissed once or twice, and the few times that they were in in bed together, they were always fully dressed. Once, i assumed they sex, i guess, i don't know, they layed side by side. With Tyler, they were all booed up in bed, night gown and all. With Book, she always dressed getting into bed with him in her Star Fleet uniform. I'm confused 🤔. I know I'm not the only one who noticed it. To me it looks like they have a really deep friendship connection, even though I guess they're suppose to be a "couple". With Tyler, you knew they were a couple because whenever they were on screen together they were always kissing, not hugging like her and Booker does. Did they write it that way? I'm going to see how season 5 plays out. They act like brother and sister instead of a couple. Word up !!!!

What intrigues me most about this show is this: why did no one think about the fact that it would be abbreviated to "STD"? Put that in the lgbtq-heavy context of the show, and you actually get an absolutely fucking obvious diss against the scene, based on an ages-old cliché. The writers of this show are just absolute morons. 😄 Love shit like this.
Maybe because they didn’t think Star Trek fans would be the ones to use it as vitriol given the values that Star Trek represents…so I don’t think it’s the writers who are morons here

@@mothgirlx6707 I didn't make that connection, I merely cited it, calling it "an ages-old cliché", which disqualifies it as nonsense (though, just like with all clichés, there is a true core blown up out of proportion: STDs used to be much more prevalent in the (male) gay scene than among heterosexual people before safer sex became a thing, but the only reason for that is that many STDs are more easily contracted anally than vaginally. That fact was distorted by conservatives, leading to the cliché of LGBTQ people being more promiscuous/immoral or being punished by god).
The problem here is: You only hear what you want to hear. You project your personal concept of your enemy onto me, thus turning this conversation into a sort of personal vendetta. I'm really not your enemy though. In fact, other than the writers of the show, I would have been sensible enought NOT to give the show a title that's ammunition for anti-LGBTQ types' jokes. That's my whole point, and that (besides other aspects of terrible writing) is why I call them morons.
Your last sentence is very revealing too, btw. Why make a point if it's negative? Because criticism is important and leads to change. Well said!!! I enjoyed STD from the beginning. It was the wokeness that pushed me away. OK, before I get a lot of hate hear me out. I'm 63 and watched TOS from season one in prime time. I felt from the beginning that STD had recaptured the essence of what Star Trek was. I could do with the Culber and Stamets relationship, it's what modern kids want in TV. The problem was it kept expanding the wokeness to the point I stopped watching it. Then there was the audience who wanted STNG type of show. I did not like the Next Generation; it was way to marshmallow for me, too soft and really no character ever really caught me. Doug Jones and I are like three weeks difference in age, I found that, funny. I really like Seniqua Martin-Green and Michelle Yeoh, and Jason Issacc they gave some great episodes. Overall, the first three seasons were pretty good, though season 4 was, well, I couldn't get into it. Farewell Discovery may the series rise once again.

Further adventures of Burnham and Booke. Last couple of seasons didn't deliver. Hopefully this last season goes out with a bang.
Im about to finish the last episode of season 4. Quite frankly season 4 was underwhelming and there's some obvious plot holes not easy to ignore. I'm even wondering if i accidentally skipped over an episode. (Spoiler) I also don't respect how they're so afraid of a retailating 10 c spieces in this last season and they cant even catch a small ship that enter their hyperfield over w.e. smh I hope season 5 delivers something better. Season 3 had to be one of the best seasons of Discovery i watched. Love Saru and Michael Burne.

Georgiou committed no crimes in this universe. Why would she be in prison? Consider it like countries that do not have extradition. Also, look up Wernher Von Braun, a Nazi that put the US on the moon.
Better question: why were Kirk and Riker never jailed?
Riker was jailed twice both in _TNG: “Gambit, Part II”_ and _TNG: “The Pegasus”_ for his actions.

Picard instantly pardoned Riker in " The Pegasus." As for "Gambit Part II," Data taking Riker in was played for laughs.
This isn't like Michael Burnham, who was court martialed for attempted mutiny and would have been imprisoned for a long time if Captain Lorca had not intercepted her shuttle. Discovery is superior to TNG in that major characters actually face real consequences when they commit a crime.

Pardoned or not, he was _IN_ jail… And quite frankly, for all the insubordination and other reckless things she’s done, Burnham gets out and suddenly becomes the inspirational hero of the Federation and a captain. It’s always about her thinking she knows better and escaping any negative outcome whereas the only crime Riker really committed was under unique circumstances due to Pressman and his naïveté.
shame that point where trailer ended would have been a good long chat about how the characters were feeling and where their relationship is currently at.... also can prob stop the evil alien invisible bugs with just a little bit of love...

Star trek Discovery, is the best STAR TREK incarnation yet, next to the uss. VOYAGER and captain Janeway. Anyways.
DISCOVERY, I feel under the right, green light. Still has the greater potential. To shine even brighter. As a wonderous series icon.
In fact, the uss discovery. Can be a multi generational ship and crew. Spanning over a brand new, 25year mission. Of course, some crew members would need to be slowly written out of the story. In let's say, another 10/15 years or so. As both the characters and naturally the actors, go through the aging process. Or are killed off or something alittle bit earlier.
Butt, the ship or its prediscesors, can go on, for the duration. Come on, TREK Creators, let's do it. For the fans as well as the franchise. Bring into the story arc, a multi generational series. And please, make that extra special ship and crew, the Discovery??? ✝️

The only season I liked was pike. So I waited until they said they were not making anymore and got 1 - 4 new when I found one cheap. Why change their minds ffs. She is so bad, I make sure I am doing something on the computer and focus on that everytime she's on screen. I don't care what she has to say and I don't care if it's important to the plot because she is just that bad.
They may as well just rename it to Star Trek: Michael Burnham

Also this trailer is what got me started watching this show. Now I'm learning this is the last season. I hope to see more African female lead roles in Sci-Fi. I was glad to watch this after watching "The Foundation". Loved Salvor in that show.

People don't care about the gay character or a black character, there have been plenty in Trek before Discovery, but you can twist whatever narrative you want, a turd is still a turd.
NOBODY cares if the captain is black or there are two gay men. It's terribly written, and the writers don't understand really basic science. If you can watch this, fine, but the reason it's disliked is NOT for the reasons you believe. It's been explained a MILLION times.
It’s barely like any other Star Trek, so cringey and woke. You could literally change the uniforms and it would be any generic Sci fi series. Not to mention SMG is a horrible actress .

Well, I must be a drug addict (Need Star trek) to watch this very painful bla bla bla bla emotions! 95% personal 5% adventure. Old shows were 80% adventure story and 20% personal and was amazing. you would think that with the rating they are getting they would get the message.
I loved this show until she started crying every episode, saying Let's Fly and overacting by whispering every heartfelt piece of dialogue...s1 and s2 was amazing and then it became a woke cryathon

I agree Josh! If you type “Star…” into RUclips, Star Trek doesn’t even come up as a suggestion. SecretHideOut and Kurtzman have done nothing for the Star Trek franchise, outside of alienating the fans they did have. I’m a gay, child of immigrants, as diverse as they come, but I’m called a bigot for not liking the vapid trash they churn out. They have clamped down on fan films, covertly shut down reddit groups voicing criticism. NuTrek isn’t made for Trek fans and I can’t work out who it is made for. I have friends who don’t know Star Wars very well, watching the Mandelorian, etc. CBS/Paramount have failed to do what they wanted with Star Trek, outside of ruin it.

What a load of trash this show has turned into. The first couple of seasons were alright but it got so bad around season 3 so I stopped watching.

Yep. It's so bad that it lasted one season longer than Enterprise, two seasons longer than Picard and the sacred TOS, two seasons longer than the supposedly "true" modern Star Trek show, The Orville, and only two seasons less than Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and TNG. Absolutely horrible! You should be a showrunner with your vast amount of insight.
@@charclay TOS has 79 episodes. Disco is gunna end out with 65, that is 14 less than TOS despite having 2 less seasons so your math is already fucked. TOS has been fondly remembered for over 50 years, how confident are you that Disco will share that adoration? Cause most fans I talk to in real life, not the internet, fucking despise Disco.
You two people that commented are tripping. If you think the show is good, no problem, but it's straight up not Star Trek. Burnham would have been decommissioned so long ago for her behavior. Everyone acts like an emotional child and don't even get me started on the burn 😅.
Look there are good moments in the show, but the vast majority of events just make no sense or are poorly written/thought out.
Also who cares if two dudes kiss, wtf?! Literally no one batted an eye.
A couple more side notes: TOS compared to TNG is pretty damn bad. Enterprise was OK. Certainly better than discovery. Picard was NOT good either, but also better than discovery.
You're welcome to like whatever you want, but a show with a bunch children running while everything gets blown up is not my cup of tea
I’m so glad it’s been cancelled. I still think Kurtzman and SecretHideOut will continue to make us want to vomit with their Starfleet Academy show. Paramount needs to get out of their licensing contract with them. We need someone who cares about Star Trek at the helm. All the new Trek shows are trash. People pretend Strange New Worlds is somehow different, but still doesn’t fit into continuity and feels like cringey NuTrek to me.
@charclay this show sucks plain and simple. By far the worst and most unlikable cast in trek history. I'm surprised they propped this pig up as long as they did.
Still don’t like it. So glad this is coming to an end. Hopefully they can focus on the other series
