  • The original plan was to do Watkins in a day but word on the street was that it was seeping so we made a day before change of objective to climb the Salathe. Chris had done the route a couple years ago wall style but this was my first time on the route other than the Freeblast. It kind of got me psyched to try to free climb El Cap. Maybe one day.
We climbed this thing on 4/30/21. Official time was 11:05.

Hey man. Just discover your channel and am digging with your videos. I was an obsessive climber in my teens/early 20s and dreamed of my future exploits on “the big rock” constantly. After a nightmare experience climbing, life just took me down a different obsessive path - mainly whitewater. But the climber inside my brain still lives. Your videos are like a POV reality show for my mind, visiting all these fabled place names (pitches and ledges) I’ve dreamed about but never have had the opportunity to do so, and doubt I ever will. The real time editing is perfect and yes your playlist is great. Quality choice of some Latin vibes. Hearing Ruben Blades “Siembra” tracks on the salathe head wall was a bonus. Keep it up. Live fast.

So in the big chimney toward the end, you were leading with the rope through the revo. I take it you use that to self belay off the short fix rather than pdl, and then just leave it on the line when your partner puts you back on belay? I’ve never short fixed so running through the logistics in my head. Seems like the revo would be better than a grigri there.

    • @brianrodman1033

there's a good chance that it was a Gri gri. Convenient since most people would be carrying one already. Plus if you had to do a pendulum while short fixing/self belaying it would be the ideal device.

@@ryansheridan5015 Really i dont? lol that's funny. If the hangar were to fail that little blue line your talking about doesn't mean shit. This setup simply does not meet any form of redundancy. So who is the hater? I am discussing climbing physics that are factual. You are just a you tube troll. And the point to my comments is, maybe these folks will wake up before someone has an accident on the wall. But as usual, you all are to egotistical to recognize a real problem or a real failure mechanism. Thats what happens when you give children keyboards. You get people like you. Not to mention, the recommended way to fix a line by every big wall climber in the world is NOT this method and there is a reason for it.
