- Welcome to Nijmegen, a beautiful city located in the eastern part of the Netherlands. Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands and the largest city in the Dutch province of Gelderland.
I began the walk at the Valkhof Park, a picturesque green oasis in the heart of the city. From there, I made my way through the bustling city center, passing by the Grote Markt and strolling down Molenstraat and Nassausingel. Then I crossed the Kronenburgerpark, a charming park with beautiful views of the city, and took a glimpse of the Red Light Street. The walk ends along the scenic boulevard of the Waal river with views of the Waalburg Bridge (a historic bridge with ties to World War II) and the Snelbinder (a railway bridge).

City has changed a lot over the years and really mean a lot, still have images in my head from the 70's and 80. Specially when the four day march was there, when i was young we ( my friends) did a lot of "kroegen tocht" back then ;) Anyway great video, still proud of the oldest city in our country!
P.s. at 12:52 now there is PraxisCity but back then is was the "kijkshop" been there a lot back then ;)

According to different sources Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands and the first to be recognized as such in Roman times.
There are loads of sources that cite the same for Dordt to be frank it looks older as well I'd much rather go for a day out there but I did live there for a year so maybe I'm biased Genevieve Antwerp@@walkwise
Nijmegen was already a city in ancient roman times, dordrecht was founded at least a thousand years later. The only city that comes close to Nijmegen for being the oldest city is Maastricht and maybe Voorburg.

Nijmegen is not situated in Holland. Holland is the west of the Netherlands (except Zeeland). Nijmegen is in Gelderland.

To correct you: Nijmegen is the oldest town in the Netherlands. Maybe try to Google some history about Nijmegen? Ever heard of Novimagus? The time the Romans where here?
