Every NDP I m most moved to see everyone singing in one voice our ND Songs especially Home & We are Singapore, & the pride of unity when all sing Majulah Singapura & recite the pledge in sincere unison. For 2022 I was pleasantly surprised by Liu Ling Ling rendition of 一人一半感情不散 with the new lyrics. It goes to show that everyone has a space in Singapore regardless of status and profession.
He should just work on that day like I did lol instead of ranting and wasting time hating the songs it would save him the trouble of actually having to hear it lol and be like any other normal day I could only wish to celebrate ndp and take a break I only saw fireworks from afar and heard the ndp songs played at cold storage for 5 mins in the juice section lol and every other day just became normal lol

My friend and I were howling when we heard You Will Be Found. It took me a few seconds - at first I was like "is this something from The Greatest Showman?" It's from Dear Evan Hansen, which is by the same composers, and is infamously terrible mental health representation. Its main character has severe anxiety and is neurodivergent and basically manipulates and cons the entire school into thinking he had a close friendship with a schoolmate who had committed suicide and who actually was his bully. Completely removed from its context, You Will Be Found is a nice song, but it's amazing that this was chosen as a tribute to frontline workers if you know where it's from.

He also produced and starred in The Son, a play which very much demonises those who suffer with mental health difficulties. It's another example of someone who's ostensibly well-meaning, but also an example of how far we have to go when it comes to awareness and accurate representation surrounding this. It affects different people to different extents, of course, so it's okay if for you, it stops at "it's a nice song, let it be".
