    It is clear that they made the ship much easier for the crew, and I am fine with that. If I have to check the map ahead of time to see which way that I need to go, that is not a big deal to me. I always enjoy my cruises. I am thrilled to be on a ship where I can relax and not worry about anything. I plan on having a great time on my upcoming Wish trip.

    Your review of how they choose what goes on at the bars sounds like it would fit a lot of Disney projects in general. There isn't a concerted effort to sculpt the most impressive outcome possible, it's more like "let's throw this at the wall and see if it sticks." That works with food experiences, architecture, ride development, merchandise, shows and so on. Sometimes you review something small but end up with a review that reveals a template for Disney corporate thinking overall. If you're walking into a bar where their drinks are "Meh, serve this to the people and see if they complain" then you've just peeled back the curtain to observe the man at the controls making the decisions.

    Another thorough review! Love the dual review. I always felt the Dream and Fantasy were to the Magic and the Wonder as Disney World (pre Chapek) is to Disneyland. This ship seems like it’s just our current version of Disney World- it’s still fun, but we know it could have been better because we already experienced better from them in the past.

    Hey Tom and Eric! I was on the cruise with you guys (said a Hi while in line for the Frozen dinner....thank you for being so gracious). This was my family's second Disney cruise. My kids loved it. My wife and I enjoyed it very much, but we were not blown away like on our first cruise. Not sure if this was problems with the Wish, or just "the second cruise isn't as novel as the first." We are going on the Wish again later this Fall with my sister and her family. They've never been on a cruise before, and so it will be interesting to see what their experience is. Also, I'm looking forward to going again, and seeing what's been improved. What you said about the movie theaters would make sense if Disney actually used the two theaters to show different movies. However, they show the exact same movies at the same time, with a 15 minutes difference between the two, completely negating the necessity of having two separate movie theaters. On our four night cruise there were only five movies shown the entire time!! Thor, Dr Strange, Zombies 3, Lightyear and Encanto. That’s it. All day long in both theaters simultaneously.
    Also, as someone who cruises for the onboard activities, Luna and Triton are just awful…Luna is way too small for the activities they hold in there, and the upstairs seating is ridiculous, because if you get stuck up there you’re not part of the event at all, there’s no way to participate up there, as opposed to the much bigger venues on the other four ships where everyone can be part of the fun.
    The Triton space in tiny, and every activity I went to there had guests standing and crowding the entrance due to minimal seating.
    Regarding animation classes onboard, while on the other ships it’s a great experience with a CM teaching you how to draw, on the Wish it’s a CM pushing play on a video…so you’re sitting in front of the equivalent of a RUclips video.

    Thank you for your review. My family and I actually loved the ship. We have also sailed on the Dream. My wife is not a big Disney fan and after sailing on the Wish she was sold onto booking another cruise. I do think there some things Disney can easily fix to make the ship better like the Elevator bottoms and more shows in the lobby. More digital artwork finders. I did miss the miniature golf course but I actually liked the lounges and cafe salt and peppered all over the ship. Made the ship feel festive an alive. I think construction techniques has gotten much better over the years. On the Dream there a lot of uneven floors were you can tell were the sections were welded together. I actually think the Oceania Club is better on the Dream because their more play structure areas besides empty rooms with exterior walls with props or buttons. My biggest complaint is there no Boys theme area. I have 10 girl and 5 year boy. They're really not much to do for Boys if you think about it. All the floor theme is princess. Why not incorporate both like Tarzan and Jane for a cabin theme or maybe Pinocchio, or lion King or something if you want to keep it to Classic. I also think their a lot of empty space that can be utilized better like the table tennis room, they can add some arcade games or seating booths.

  • @oppressed
    @oppressed 2 года назад +8

    I am sorry if I missed it, but was the boat more show ready on this sailing as opposed to the previous sailing? The only thing I noticed between the two was that your Olaf animatronic was working this time versus the last time when it was not. Also regarding the staff shortages, I have to wonder if a large number of the crew are coming down with Covid as restrictions are lifted, and as you know it is impossible to avoid crowds on this ship in particular.

    Tom, the Disney Wish is a horribly designed ship. So much cost-cutting and removing non-revenue spaces. The elimination of the fully wrap-around sheltered Promenade Deck is bad enough but the removal of the midship lifts is a disgrace for a ship that size. And the narrow corridors. It has CEO Bob Paycheck all over it. Even worse is that there is a sister to the Wish on order. Paycheck will remain as CEO until guests start responding with their wallets. Apparently the Disney Board of Directors is quite pleased with him in spite of him destroying any goodwill that Disney had left.

    • @danasandoval624
      @danasandoval624 2 года назад

      You are correct about he will be in control for a long time because people are still spending thinking they will get the experience of what Disney used to be, until people stop spending, and even then it will take awhile because he will have many excuses before they finally realize the man in control has ruined what Disney was. Sad very sad. We stopped going to Disney a few years ago and go to Universal, we cruise but don’t even consider going on Disney. The money they charge for the experience they provide at parks, resorts and cruises does not equal what you can get with other companies.

    • @jaklg7905
      @jaklg7905 2 года назад +1

      90% of being sick is a person focusing on it. The best way to not feel seasick is to distract yourself from it. I don't usually feel the ship move unless it really gets moving. I think that looking out at the water makes it worse since your body is doing something different then what your eyes are seeing. If you just focus on having a good time and not feeling sick, that is half the battle. Find some motion remedy that works for you, either pills or sea bands, etc.

    • @denizalgazi
      @denizalgazi 2 года назад +1

      Most people are fine on these ships. A midship inside stateroom on the lowest deck will feel the least movement. Upper deck staterooms far forward or aft will feel the most movement if there is any. Modern cruise ships have fin stabilisers that are like wings to help prevent this. There is almost always movement when sailing through the passage between Port Canaveral and the Bahamas. If you are very sensitive, start taking your meds such ss Dramamine the day before you sail and you should be fine. If it's severe, usually you can get a jab onboard that is very strong!

    • @jaklg7905
      @jaklg7905 2 года назад

      @@denizalgazi The modern ships have very little noticeable movement. They would have to be in 10 foot waves for a person to tell any difference in ship location. I don't know why people are still saying that there is any difference in locations on these ships.

    • @Emily_070
      @Emily_070 2 года назад +1

      For me it depends on where I sail from. Sailing from Canaveral I didn't notice a thing. Sailing from Texas and California was not pleasant for at least a day. Bring the patch, and other motion sick medicine options just in case and you should be fine.

    • @chanilerner6410
      @chanilerner6410 2 года назад +3

      When asking a question about sea sickness you have to be careful about who’s answering you, because people who don’t suffer from it don’t get it. My husband and I suffer from sea sickness and love cruising. We wear Sea Bands and they allow us to cruise without trouble for the most part. However, when cruising you do need to take into account that the ship can start rocking depending on the winds and the sea conditions. We’ve been on many cruises where people online swear there’s zero motion but we had evenings where the pool water was sloshing right and left, as were we walking down the hallways. So you have to bring with you whatever helps you battle the sea sickness. We also make sure to only book midship rooms, that’s where the movement will be felt the least, and where possible we’ll book a lower deck.

    i personally loved the wish, I thought it was perfectly laid out and easy to navigate. It was only 3 nights but I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I don't understand the hate it gets, I don't think it would be smart if all the ships were carbon copies of one another. It's good that they are all different. if you didn't like the disney wish, I feel so sorry for you because you missed out on an amazing experience.

    I don’t get why jaded, grown adults are reviewing something that’s clearly not aimed for them. I don’t have much interest in the Wish because it’s not targeting me.

    My wife and I went last weekend (the 19th - 22nd) and we saw the third show, Aladdin, which was excellent. It was the Seas first night (2 shows), then Little Mermaid second night (2 shows), then Aladdin the final night (2 shows). We thought Aladdin was the best, and the Seas 2nd. Little Mermaid was meh for alot of the reasons you said.

    I feel like any information about the Wish was so long awaited and then everything was so hyped up by Disney that it was difficult to live up to. I feel like you would want people to be pleasently surprised but it seems expectations are either met or guests are disapointed. I am still looking forward to my trip on the wish but my expectations are a little better managed.

    Does Tom ever wonder if Chapek has his picture posted with the warning, make this man miserable? He always ends up with much worse experience than others. I do have to say, after seeing a young couple with a small child on The Wish. It looks awesome. Perhaps the idea of the WISH is to cater to the kids and young teens and not the adults.

      I would peruse the comments on the first review, most agreed. I don’t see how children would have a bad time, and I don’t know that I said I had a “bad” time, I just said it was my least favorite ship lol

      @@WDWNT I don't doubt your reviews and very often most agree agree with you. I just wondered if the cast change things up for WDW. I can certainly imagine Chapek putting a wanted poster with a bounty on your head in the service areas. 😂😂I sometimes think the same for Pete, especially since like you, he doesn't pull any punches with his reviews.

      *Disabled* kids would have a miserable time. Privileged/oblivious kids might have fun...
      If *ableism* and *discrimination* is Disney's new message... mission accomplished. 🤷
      The accessibility fails on board were extensive and appalling, especially for a ship supposedly built for severely ill & often disabled kids (Wish kids, from Make-A-Wish).

    Woah Riviera is not Wish. Riviera actually an improvement by getting a smaller consolidated full resort. Riviera is also not about upcharge basically at all as you don't even have a Spa there and their Quick Service is one of the best at WDW.
    Big swing and miss on that comment IMO.

    Spot on. We just got off the Wish on Friday. It was our fifth Disney cruise having previously been on Fantasy and Magic. It was not only the worst Disney cruise experience we ever had but the worst cruise experience on any line. Service was sparse and curt, the food was borderline inedible to just passable, the little mermaid show was terrible and there were no other shows and many of the ships features were not available, not ready (Uncharted not ready, Aladdin cancelled, etc.). Many areas with broken fixtures and malfunctioning aspects. Rip off.

      Lines for everything even the shops and the taco bar line was to mid ship most days. Aqua mouse was constantly down. They ran out of items in the shops. I will write a lengthy review. State rooms and bathrooms were a nice upgrade. End of list.

    My favorite theme park reviewer did the disney wish and he hated enchante restaurant. personally from what i have seen on youtube even if i was rich i wouldnt do it. for those prices i want to choose what i eat and get an actually meal and not tiny tiny tiny ass pieces of food or that stupid foam

    • @kpl-CA
      @kpl-CA 2 года назад

      How... seriously off-putting/exclusionary/insulting that "Enchante" dictates the menu with zero options or substitutions... so scr*w everyone who has food allergies, sensitivities, are vegetarian/vegan, celiac, lactose issues, are kosher/halal...
      Or simply don't LIKE the enforced dishes.
      Who chose to push PORK of all things, with no opt out?
      And for The Rose "lounge" to have ZERO alcohol-free options... What a massive failure.
      From what we've seen of the two "upcharge" restaurants on the Wish, they are a complete waste of money & time.
      What a total disappointment for Wish families too.
      We've heard from other Wish families loads of negative feedback about accessibility issues/exclusion/"unavailable" resources that were pointed out/bragged about but NOT FUNCTIONING/and everything for the non-press families was "not working yet".
      Disney shorted WISH FAMILIES on the ONE vacation they may have (we're a former Wish family. Most WFs can't take vacations).
      To neglect or ignore accessibility features on the Wish, in 2020s is INEXCUSABLE. Wish kids were awkwardly used/exploited for MARKETING purposes - the "launch", but not actually welcome or WANTED on board.
      Like the ridiculous focus on the SLIDE from the lobby that a disabled child can't use. Or use the STAIRS. But an elevator? You'll have to hike to the far away elevators.
      How ableist.
      There's not even a lousy Wish family Lounge, like in the parks, or ANY inclusion of the (supposed) "ship Godparents", Wish kids.
      Oh, except a TINY portion of a FEW items for sale.
      BIIIIG deal. More USING Wish Families, but not INCLUDING them.
      And no shaded deck for strolling or jogging?
      What a failure, erasing one of the few remnants of Walt.
      For a ship that supposedly wants to "include" sick & disabled kids... the "forgotten" details for the sake of shoving profit... APPALLING.
