Wow. This video seriously blew my mind. Back in the early/mid '90s, I went to Sonora High School not too far from those tracks. At the time we lived off Tunales Drive, at Las Palmas, and that's the bridge of course that comes into view at around the 10:35 mark. My friends and I used to take the tracks to go to Sonora, to and from. Getting over that bridge and down the concrete slant, was not easy - especially with the big fat gas line that was on the south side of the bridge. We usually never had a problem; the cops rarely hassled us and maybe out of all those years, we had to avoid the train twice, which usually went slow. In the later years, the Union Pacific police started doing random spot checks and discouraged people from walking along the tracks. Never knew these became abandoned over time. The last time I was up around there was off Imperial at those tracks and that was in 2007. I'm amazed at all of the overgrowth that has overtaken the tracks and the immediate area. Back then it was cleaned, wide open and you could see into people's backyards. Thanks for posting this. That was a definite time warp going back over 30 years!
Another priceless video from the modern day rail conquistador, Archie! Once again Zorrito travels the unknown to entertain his many viewers! Viva Zorrito!
14:30 I've played Fullerton GC many times and always thought how much fun it would be to ride those rails. Thanks for sharing the journey. Also congrats on being able to cross both Lambert and Imperial without being run over by the speed demons on those busy roads.
At 9 minutes: It's great to see the care you take with the trees and plants along the tracks. In several stretches, nature is taking back its space. I felt like I was along for the ride. Very beautiful landscapes for us railroad lovers. At 21:34 LOL. Great ride Archie, hugs from Brazil. Anxiously awaiting the next ride.
This video randomly showed up on my feed. I started watching and recognized Lambert. I then saw the FedEx trucks and Uline and realized I recognized the area. The tracks ran behind the buildings where I worked Christmas job for years. I remember the tracks from when I walked on breaks.
I've been watching these kind of videos for years. I was at a garage sale a few years back and bought some old 6" polyerathane wheels from a roller coaster in Texas. I hear that they're very popular for quieting the sound by over 70%. My plans are for a 100% solar powered rail car. I live in the foothills of central California. I've found many abandoned logging train tracks from the 1800's that the forest has completely taken hold of. It has five foot diameter trees growing in the middle of the tracks!
Looks like fun. As a former railroad trainman, I got nervous a few times. I used to live near 90 and Orangethorpe and remember a line that paralleled I-5. It was in use at the time (early 80s). Vaya con Dios!
What a ride! That box girder bridge you passed under carried the Pacific Electric's Fullerton Line (which is now the Juanita Cooke Trail, not the UP line) over the UP. There was also a AT&SF spur that wound its way up to the Bastanchury Ranch, the main buildings of which were located at the northwest corner of Valencia Mesa and Harbor; all three railroads served it.
Thank you for sharing your adventures on these rails before they are gone. Interesting to see some rail rides in the suburbs this time, and I enjoyed learning about the Hunts tomato canning factory story to this line in the description. I went to college in Fullerton until 1995. The Hunts factory closed in 1996 just after.
I enjoyed the adventure! At the beginning of the video I thought the trail had the atmosphere of a horror movie or Jurassic Park. I was in doubt. But when the baby velociraptor crossed the track at 12:20 in the video I was sure it was really Jurassic Park, hahahaha. The entertainment was a little short, but really cool. Thanks and see you soon!
I grew up in that area, I remember freight trains running on that route out to Brea. Amazing that all the track hasn’t been pulled up for scrap value, usually they are pretty quick about that.
@@BenMonares I lived about 3 miles away, so I wasn't aware of every train that ran. I just know that I would sometimes see a train when driving in that area. If I had to guess probably one or two trains a week to service the chemical plant at the end of the line. But it could have been much less - I only saw a train a few times, but I wouldn't drive in that area very often.
This is still the property of U.P. and so the trail has only the informal name of U.P. Trail. The Juanita Cooke trail is where the Pacific Electric rail was. That rail was removed in 1962.
Essential equipement for speeder/railcart are: food, drink, tow rope (obstacle), motor spare parts, fuel, spade/shovel & broom (sand), saw (tree near or inside track), crow bar (rock near or on track).
wow that was a cool ride thanks for sharing, u need to look at the side of the rail for dates of manufacture, and maybe take a metal detector, thanks again for a very enjoyable ride
My family moved from Caldwell, NJ to Fullerton, Pa in 1970. The moving company shipped our furniture to Fullerton, California. They put us up in a hotel for a week til our stuff came back
If it’s possible, I’d love to have an old pickup 🛻 truck, have both the rail wheels attached and cruise the rails carrying some landscaping tools, and trim the trees along the way, bring some help, pack some food and water, then when you get done, get off the rails and get to the cãśà
Been down those streets, few friends, I see one on Fonda, Mike Gallardo use to live there, wow, know those tracks going by the fullerton golf cousre cool
Driving that thing like a crazy MoFo. Blowing horn at vegetation 😅😂. Thought they were gonna hit that one spot and see them both shoot off the front of the car.Leave subtitles up longer😂. Part of the Ferromex railroad. 😂😂😂 Loved it.
Archie, I recently found your channel and have spent 2 days watching your videos. They are the best, and that rail cart is very tuff and very cool. Do you have any idea how many miles you have ridden it? I'm guessing several hundred and it's still running great. Thank you for taking us along for the ride!
Back in high school we’d run through here for cross country. I think at the time a few trains just the locomotives did come by but the engineers would get off at intersections to stop traffic since the lights were out of commission not sure though it’s been a while.
I live in this area and that’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen! I want to come along. Amazing!

That was awesome!
I used to ride my motorcycle along those tracks in the 70s and 80s..

Thank you for a great tour, more please
It was like being in Jurassic Park with all the tropical plants and trees. Only one wino on the tracks. Fun run within city.
What a unique and fun idea. I was having a good time watching your video.

Thanks Archie! I have a Railbike attachment for my bicycles so I’m always looking for some new tracks to ride…. Your channel is a HUGE HELP!

man, i wished my country had abandoned railroads! Looks like so much fun.
This os also very much illegal in the states!
@Robbie-sk6vc So is riding bikes on sidewalks, and tons of people do it anyway.
Wow very interesting thank you for sharing another unknown story of So-Cal God Bless
My grandma & great aunt lived in Fullerton in their last years.
I lived in Fullerton and went to Sunny Hills HS. Ages ago, their first graduating class.
¡A mover las palmas! , gritarían cumbieros argentos 😄 . Un track verde difícil pero muy vistoso . Sale like , saludos .
The video is very interesting Bravo BravoIt's a pity the abandoned railroad.Cool and interesting VIDEO 👍👌💯🤗

Yes. Many people tell me the same thing about Jurassic Park. And it does look similar!!!! I hadn't paid attention, thanks!!!
Another great ride! Thanks Archie!
Quite a great adventure! Best railcart video I have ever seen.
I grew up in that area, I remember freight trains running on that route out to Brea. Amazing that all the track hasn’t been pulled up for scrap value, usually they are pretty quick about that.
Do you remember how often did freight trains went on that area?

Another adventure, boys. 😂
That track still looks in great condition. I'm surprised the county didn't purchase it for passenger service in the future.

Very Cool their are a lot of old red car tracks still around all over Southern California
Thank you so much that was great ........
Thanks for another ride along!! Gee, how many creepy bugs and spiders get crawling on you going through all that vegetation?
Hahahahahah too much jajajajaj😅
First time I noticed you using the Flintstones braking technique. 😂😂😂😂 Nice.
But it looks like a hell of a lot of fun.👍👍👍
Interesting!
I like the horn!😅😊
The amount of abandoned rail infrastructure in the states in insane.
Much fun 👍🏼!
“Archie!! Don’t forget about the cooler full of burritos 🌯, tacos 🌮, and Dos Equis!!” It’s going to be a great trip!
Yes,yes thank you

This was fun
They should put a light rail system there. Very close by to he Pacific Electric system ran through Fullerton. This area is now VERY expensive homes
man i am so close to these tracks a couple times a week that would be so funny if i saw yall cruising on them lol
That’s a bold move crossing Lambert and imperial. I think I would’ve started my ride. Just passed imperial and parked at the floor and decor.
Nice run from Lambert Road south. BIG Palms growing up in the tracks. Too bad its not clear for more motor cars can run on it.
I see you on fyp tiktok 🤣
And i go your youtube chanel for see all video content you 😂
Been down those streets, few friends, I see one on Fonda, Mike Gallardo use to live there, wow, know those tracks going by the fullerton golf cousre cool

Hola! De hecho miro la ruta en Google Maps.
Excelente!

I drive by this track all the time and have been wanting to ride it for years. I don’t have a cart. Lately they’ve pulled up some track.
💯👌👌👌👌👌👌

The city of Fullerton or Orange County need to go in there and clean that area up and turn it into a recreational rail trail.
Cool video. Looks like you could use some light weight brush guards 🙈
Ferrocaril de Los Locos! Hurray😅
nice! have you ever found any abandoned railcars or locomotives excluding the sd&ae? awesome video.
@8:50 the palm tree 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is very cool. These abandoned ROWs need to be repurposed for public transit.
"The Weed Route"
Railbike paths are a much better way to preserve abandoned railroads!
Hola again. How many miles can you travel? Gracias!😊
you need to add a couple rubber tired wheels, that you can drop with a lever, so you can run Little Fox on the ties and around these obstacles...
25:49 Adios Amigos!
wonder if an old p.e route?
Nah, old UP freight route. The old p.e route crosses over it in that one old bridge
God Bless California!
25:20 End of the line!
: All Aboard, may the rails be with us :
🐢 🚂 🐢 😲 🐢 👍
This trackage must have been abandoned for some time for a damned palm tree to have grown between the ties!!!
This line has been abandoned for about 10 years now I believe
@@USArailfanner3448true but I wish it’s still in service and also that track connects from La Habra Subs to the BNSF mainline
@ yea I wish the line was still in service and also I do know it connects to the BNSF mainline
Those trees grow fast.
Would it be possible to use an old truck 🛻 with the out riggers, that’s heavier and have a metal blade in the front to push away the vegetation?
I hope the right of way will be into a walking trail just like in Whitter.
hey man could i ride with you guys next time you go
