      I found these stories very interesting.
      Is it a cult or is it a church? Sometimes the line gets blurry.
      I have certainly attended churches that were "cultish", but i don't know where you actually draw the line.
      Dealing with institutions like that can be difficult to talk about after the fact, because people often treat you like your stupid for being a victim to a cult.
      There definitely is stigma that follows a person that has a history with cult.

    my mom was brought up in a jahova's witness family. She denies that it was a cult, and abhors when I talk about cults even though she's no longer a part of that religion. You think those guys who come to the door are annoying? That shit is nothing. They had my mom so scared of the end times that she still has anxiety attacks when people bring up revalations. This is among other things that are too numerous to mention here.

      bleachsanchoblastk jehovah's witnesses are not the only ones who go door to door by the way. I never see a witness come here I only get mormons and some other unknown religion which wouldn't say their name. Fyi I grew up as a witness as well.

      Isn't the End Times a Biblical thing, not just a Jehovah's Witness thing? They're not exactly fear-mongerers, know what I'm saying? So this idea of them making yer mom so scared and anxiety-ridden seems more like a specific situation rather than a JW teaching meant to cause that

    The story of the Korean run cult reminds me a lot of The Church of Ahn Sahng-hong. Another Korean cult that operates internationally as The World Mission Society Church of God.
    I got invited to a couple of their meetings. At first seemed innocent enough. They tried to convince me that worshiping on Sunday was sin and I thought they were Seventh Day Adventists. Then They invited me to Passover and things got weird.
    There was the stuff about all humans being fallen angels, the churches founder was the second coming of christ and etc.
    I noped out of that group fast

    LR, your story of the Korean cult sounds very similar to the semi-cult that I survived. For I was involved with Jung SuWon for 5 yrs; a martial arts school with a very cult-like environment. Just like your story, the tae kwon do students pay unconditional obedience to the leader Tae Yun Kim, trusting her every word and action without question. And any student who does speak out differently, as I did, is immediately ridiculed and shamed, and often only given respect back after shameful apology and many acts of unpaid labor toward their operations. I almost thought you were describing the same person I once knew.

      A few years ago I was listening to a Hell testimonials on RUclips and one person said that practicing martial arts would send you to Hell.
      English wasn't this person's first language so I suspected something got lost in translation. But still it left me a bit confused.
      But now after reading your testimonial I get it. I had no idea martial artists were so cultish regarding their leaders. Now I see what he meant.
      It isn't learning how to fight or defend yourself that sends you to Hell, it's the worship of someone or something other than placing your faith in Jesus blood.

    • @jiuh6402
      @jiuh6402 5 лет назад +3

      See I don't know how to feel now. I do martial arts Taekwondo, but I don't worship anyone from it but Jesus. I'm also Christian. And seeing that I'd be sent to hell just from martial arts is odd to me.

    • @commandericeman8588
      @commandericeman8588 5 лет назад +2

      @@jiuh6402 Some people get so deeply involved in martial arts that it becomes cultish and they may unwittingly begin making an "idol" out of the art itself and or those who presently teach it or have taught it. That's what sends them to hell.

    I'm in a support group and many narcissistic mothers practice religion to the extreme or join cults. The stories of those who have been caught in cults because of their NPD'ed mothers had the most gruesome torture stories. The most angering thing is that these people were crying for help and the police was saying the horrors cannot be real and never checked the claims.
    And in another support group there was a question related to vaginismus and yeah, sex negative backgrounds can play a huge role into that.

    Cults are weird. Always so odd how 'God' needs so much cash (why would he need money at all?) and needs women to be oppressed (HE made man and woman, not man and slave - I figure he wouldn't get that wrong if that had been HIS plan all along..). Actually all organised religion seems to elevate men, their station in life, and their own wants, and have little to do with whatever God is being touted as 'the one'.

      well. every religion was created by man.. so they shape them to benefit themselves. it has nothing to do with god. its money making biz just like a store. except they sell "salvation" the only thing I need to do to get salvation is ask god for it. organized religion is just a scheme now. i don't go to church I don't preach to random people I don't look down on any other outlook. I just am. I believe in god. and I know he knows that without me being in a church.

    • @tessisprodigious
      @tessisprodigious 8 лет назад +21

      +BritGirlJay One of the many reasons I have never pursued any religion. Every single religion I have ever researched (seriously, every single one) women are less than men. Why would I ever willingly join a religion if it's going to preach and teach that I am less than a man? That's abuse. Plain and simple. I don't deserve to treated any differently just because I am a woman. There are far more things with which to judge a person than their sex.

    it's so weird to me how cults are easily able to draw in large numbers of people into their group... makes me think about how SOME people don't think for themselves and can be easily manipulated. you would think that these ~followers~ are just overly-religious, zealous people, but some of them are just ordinary-everyday people.

    This reminds me of the cult I was involved with years ago. It was an ultra-conservative Christian church. It was like an old style Pentacostal church but much more controlling. They didn't allow members to watch TV. Women weren't allowed to cut their hair or wear jewelry. They arranged marriages and pretty much controlled every aspect of the members lives. It was crazy. If a member tries to leave, they either relentlessly harrass them. They have churches all over the world and they obsess over money.

      My mother is in a pentecostal church. She became a member when I was about 9ish. She used to drag us to church, by our hair if necessary. This church was strict. No tv. No movies. No make up. No cutting hair. No nail polish. No bright colors. Only dresses and skirts. All below the knee. No high heels. No music. Only church hyms. No hair dos. Only loose hair or buns. Sunday service was 5 hours. Every other night it was from 7-9. I never liked it there. If you were an outsider visiting, the ladies would talk about you. Make fun of you. I wanted no part. As I got older and my mother could no longer make me go. I just stopped going. All the girls I went to to school with that belonged to that church, once they turned 18, they stopped going and went wild. Make up. Music. Boys. Parties. Pregnancy. They've been under strict control their whole lives. My mother called us evil and told us plenty of times we were going to hell. They had her and still have her brain washed. It was like a cult. Every day offering. 10 percent of your paycheck. 10 percent of your tax refund. All to the church. My mother loved a little vacant land that she wished she could build a house on. Money wasn't there but guess who ended up buying this land and building a house on it. The pastor. He didn't work. He lived off the offering. I once asked my mother how she felt about him buying her dream land and building the house she wanted. Her response was, this is what the Lord wanted. I asked her how she felt having to go to work every day for 9, 10 hours then giving the church her money while the pastor didn't work and her response was, he's doing the lord's work. Total brain wash. 😡
