    Hi, thanks for your video it is really good. I want to install four 12V COB LED DRL Fog Strip Daytime Running Lights to my Yamaha FJR1300 and wondered if I could use this to dim them a little bit as they are quite bright. Also can I connect the four up to a single controller or will I need to purchase four controllers? Cheers Jim

    It works but somewhat in a strange way. I used pi-filter to cut noise in the grid caused by that dimmer. When connected that dimmer to DC supply, the choke works like voice coil on the frequency of PWM, meanwhile choke or rectifier (MMB156) heats too much so it is clear that it will be not operable too long on full power. Do not advise, unless you have Pb accu used as noise filter

    That is a huge difference.

    Is this suitable for 15 meters of LED strips? I've made a panel by connecting 50cms lengths up in parellel. Currentluy I'm using a 12v 2amp supply and a PWM dimmer but it's useless for video work as the image flickers. Could I just swap my dimmer for one of these? Many thanks

      Each 5 M strip uses about 1.4 A, So it will work but I think you need better than 2 amp, Perhaps 4.2 A? Really old thread. The guy has probably figured this out ages ago.

    • @Flexfireleds
      @Flexfireleds  11 месяцев назад

      Hello, @denniskingsley1485. Thank you for your inquiry! The lights won't get brighter because brightness is directly tied to voltage and light components. This type of connection is risky as it overpowers the lighting.

    Tad bit of a modding question. Not looking for you to warranty any sort of what happens next. I want to mount the knob on a dash and the rest of the dimmer mounted inside the console of my boat. is the knob/pot soldered to a pcb board or are there leads connecting the pot to the board or directly to the plug?

    • @TRCCtv

      it's an external pot, the pot is by it's self, with 3 wires leading to a small control board, they could easily be mounted separately.

      Most LEDs will work with this as they dim through PWM. For more info visit our website at www.flexfireleds.com

    Hi, So if i purchase a 5630 LED strip, use a normal driver and install one of your dimmers after the driver, does it save energy, or only dim the leds?
    Many thank

    • @brentonces
      @brentonces 9 лет назад +1

      Burgattti It would save evergy. Pulse-width modulation works by switching the voltage on and off at a variable speed. This causes a flickering effect that is too quick for the human eye to see. By increasing and decreasing the switching speed it increases and decreases the max possible light output and dims the LED. PWM dimming is energy efficient because unlike the resistive dimming the more the LED is dimmed the less wattage it uses.

    • @Burgattti
      @Burgattti 9 лет назад

      Brent Mauriello brilliant. There are many dimmers which look 100% identical but don't say whether they are PWM or variable resistors.
      Many thanks

    Hello, sorry to wother if the dimmer is exactly the same as you are showing but the one I am buying says 12-24v, does that mean that it dimms from 12v to 24v or does that mean that it accepts both voltages? PD sorry for my English, not my first language.

    Hi,
    I have the Cryon Media Highlighter System 9"x4 HTP904E, Multicolor LED.
    The inline remote is terrible. I cannot dim the individual colors on it.
    I believe Cryon sells this dimmer on their site.
    Do you think that this dimmer would work on this system? If so, how would I go about wiring it?
    Thank you very much for your time!

    • @brentonces

      This dimmer is for single color LED strip lights. The RGB strips need an inline remote control. I cannot see what the product looks like from their website. Feel free to shoot us an email with the photos to info@flexfireleds.com and we can find a solution for you if we can!

    Hi
    Can I connect 2 LED Stripes to the same dimmer?

  • @radeohedca
    @radeohedca 7 лет назад

    Hey Flexfire.... I have the same question as Bassotronics. Is the dimmer good for 8 Amps or .8 Amps ? These boxes are advertised as handling 8 Amps but printed right on the dimmer itself it says .8 Amps. My strip of LEDs consumes 3 Amps at full brightness. That would most certainly fry the box if it's truly only rated for .8 Amps. Can you answer the question ?

    • @Flexfireleds
      @Flexfireleds  7 лет назад

      Hi there! Thanks for watching our videos!
      This particular dimmer has a max amp limit of 8 amps.

    • @radeohedca

    • @Flexfireleds
      @Flexfireleds  7 лет назад

      We've put an 8 amp load on it without any issues. Many of our clients use this dimmer with a load of 8 amps.

    • @wstinkbate

      It does not read ".8A", it reads "12v. 8A" the period indicates the word VOLTS is abbreviated.

    Does this use pwm or voltage regulation. I'm looking for a flicker free dimmer.

    • @Flexfireleds
      @Flexfireleds  8 лет назад

      +Scott Wharram Hi there Scott, this particular dimmer works through PWM. For flicker free dimming, we'd recommend to lower the voltage or to use frosted covers. Don't hesitate to give us a call at 1-844-FLEXFIRE for any other questions.

    • @jp040759
      @jp040759 7 лет назад +1

      You could hook up a capacitor in parallel with the lights to filter the PWM output of this unit and it will clean up the output to eliminate flicker.

      This will work with anything that uses 12 volts DC. You can dim incandescent bulbs, control speed of 12v DC motors, control 12 volt DC heaters. The PWM (pulse width modulation) technique in this until will work with anything the is 12 DC under 8 amps of current draw.

    I see this video was made in 2012. I'm doing a couple of projects and one is lighting an old china hutch. Theproblem is while it's fairly straight forward to wire this, these light dimmers are really butt ugly. They're designed to be surface mounted too. Why can't they make a dimmer that's affordable but not so ugly? These dimmers now are about 2 bucks ech on EBAY. So, for a cheap project, they're affordable but not easy on the eyes.
