As a life long Queen fan (since i was 5, and am now in mid 40s) who never got to see Freddie live, have had the immense pleasure of seeing Marc in concert 3 times and everytime im reduced to tears because of how much feeling and emotion he brings to Queen's songs. It brings such a smile to me to find new people discovering Queen, and by extension Marc. Marc has a habit of singing classical songs in a style as if Freddie would have - because we never got to experience that from the man himself. Ave Maria,, and Nessun Dorma. You can find Nessun Dorma on RUclips by Marc as "The Mercurotti" it's an amazing performance.
I know that Brian and Roger are all in with Adam Lambert, but I am just not a fan at all of that grouping. It was totally different, but I enjoyed when they toured with Paul Rogers. I am guessing Brian/Roger don't want a Freddie sound alike, but if that's the case, I always preferred Paul Rogers.
I actually got to see Marc perform this with Queen Extravaganza. it was absolutely amazing and we were all blown away. he was definitely the right pick by Brian May and Roger Taylor. all of his Queen work is just stunning.
9:40 me too! When a good musician or producer can play a song and help reveal what aspects of a song makes a song great - breaking down some of the instrumentation, highlighting mixing effects, or whatever - I learn to appreciate both the song and the people who point out those gems for our ears! Thank you for sharing your reaction and review of Marc's one-take!
Marc auditioned for a part in the tribute band put together by Roger Taylor and Brian May ‘The Queen Extravaganza’, he has an exceptional voice which get a very close Freddie, and yes he provided vocals for the film, bohemian rhapsody, however he is no relation to either Freddie or Rami Malek who played Freddie in the film
I'm guessing he learned both languages at the same time, as his dad is French and his mom is English. The rest of Canada, English is spoken, not French, except the small French communities sprinkled throughout the country.
Lol i cant believe its taken you so long to do this girl. This guy is haunted by Freddie. It makes me just feel im watching him in a test session or something. His mouth movements if you watch them closely are very close to the way Freddie gets that pitch and tone. Freddie could do it just naturally because his mouth and teeth are very unique. Marc for some reason can imitate this. Its like a good comedian can do a perfect version of Robert DeNiro. Also though he makes it very crisp and hits the notes so well. Yeah he was one of the main voices in the movie. When Rodger Taylor heard him sing he actually cried. Nice upload and as always awesome reactions. Just wanna know tho why do you blur out the sub video and add water droplet's? Is it a RUclips censor thing or an effect? Love ya girl xxx
Just loving your reaction to a great cover of a great song, it's a shame Queen hasn't planned a tour with Marc Martel on lead vocals, would be awesome IMHO.
The reason Queen picked Adam Lambert was that both Brian May & Roger Taylor said they didn't want somebody who sounded exactly like Freddie because it would be difficult for them to hear a voice that sounded like Freddie but look over and see someone else standing there. They said it would be too weird so they went for someone who could get close but still have their own voice as well. Marc was the singer for the tribute band Queen Extravaganza. He had to audition for Brian & Roger to get that gig. Marc never set out to be a Freddie tribute guy , his natural singing voice just happens to sound very much like Freddie. He had his own christian band for 10 yrs before doing the Queen thing. His friends would tell him " you know you a lot like Freddie Mercury" , and Marc said he really wasn't that familiar with Queen growing up cause he was focused on christian music.
@@rogerdaly6326 thanks, I am familiar with his background and singing career, also with why Queen chose Adam Lambert, but still, as a big Queen fan I would have loved to see him singing with the original band if just for one concert. I can dream can't I? All my respect to you.
You really should watch the movie. They show the creation of this song. Now whether it was completely accurate I can’t say. But the drummer Roger Taylor did all the very high voices in their songs

Your description of the song writing is literally what a Rhapsody is. Love all your videos Brit. You are very insightful in your observations. The reason you are noticing different things about this song is because sometimes he is singing the melody and sometimes he takes the harmony line and switches the melody to the piano. Honestly, you don't need to watch the movie; not only is it a total pack of lies, but it's also kind of a crummy movie.
