The lyrics of this song are particularly intriguing, apparently containing some hidden meanings. The first verse is a response to a challenge from an unknown party, to climb a metaphorical hill that the challenger himself could not climb. By climbing this hill, the singer is able to rise above the words of the other, hearing them as mere sounds devoid of meaning. The second verse is even more mysterious. In any case, the imagery is of a fool, king of his own reality, smiling and oblivious even as judgment descends against him from above. And yet, despite this, the madman rises above the fear of the magistrate who is the cause of his ruthless judgment and instead hears the humanity of the crowd singing in unison "You'll Never Walk Alone", hymn of hope.
Its on the Meddle album, along with the more known ONE OF THESE DAYS and ECHOES. I thought I'd never heard of this song, but realize after hearing it that I just didnt know the title- but it's been years and the albums/cassettes lost a long time ago. Interesting kinda Led Zep acoustic flair, with a Crosby Stills Nash vibe. Check out One of these days from the live 1994 Pulse concert, which is their first set closing song. Atom Earth Mother is the fifth album and one of the main songs and a very heavy Rick Wright influence with the keyboards
To clarify - I like the first four Pink Floyd albums. I have the first three. I am still trying to get a hold of a copy of Ummagumma. I have to admit that I am beginning to warm up to Animals. I heard that remix version of Animals that has finally come out is really good. I have to go back and listen to Atom Heart Mother. I don't recall liking much of anything from it. If you go back, I have requested plenty of early Pink Floyd. You have to include Pink Floyd singles that didn't make albums like my favorite Pink Floyd song - Julia Dream. By the way, I don't count Zabriskie Point as a Pink Floyd studio album.

This is another great Floyd album. It has one dog of a song (people who know the song will get the pun) on it though, Seamus, which is also often called Pink Floyd's worst song. I don't mind it...the rest of the album is fantastic and makes up for it IMO. Can you tell what the picture on the album cover is? It's kind of hard to tell unless you see the whole gatefold album unfolded and turned sideways. Well, I didn't get as many reactions watched as I wanted to this time, but eventually I will catch up. Cheers!
Ha! Americans getting confused when confronted by British football chants - I've seen that before on RUclips - there's a whole reaction channel thing on reacting to British football chants, songs, and insults during matches. This ending was a recording of Liverpool fans at the 'Kop' end of the stadium singing You'll Never Walk Alone and chanting "Liverpool!" You'll Never Walk Alone is an old Rodgers and Hammerstein song that became the anthem of Liverpool Football Club after Liverpool based '60s band Gerry & the Pacemakers had a number one hit with their own version. So that's the history behind it. Not a musical highlight for me. I'm usually conflicted on Pink Floyd, because I generally love Dave Gilmour's music, but not so keen on Roger Waters' political lyrics, and I'm definitely not a fan of football (too tribal), which is known in the American colonies as 'soccer' for reasons best known only to themselves, but I suspect like deciding to switch to driving on the right it's probably a silly reason lost in the mists of time and just used as a stick to beat people who still do things the sensible way...
