This show is and always will be my fav. Back in the 80's I couldn't wait to watch upcoming episodes, it was a simple pleasure that today seems sometimes hard to find. Great cast, good stories, and great fun. It is sad to see the place go, you sometimes wish more than a few things could last forever, parents, friends, places, etc. Robins Nest will never be forgotten, times change, people leave us, but this place will always be remembered as a historic and beautiful spot in Hawaii and television history. It will always be Robins Nest to me. Aloha brothers and sisters.
When a home is built seaside, it has to be continually maintained or it rots mainly from the salt water. It went down hill quickly. The real estate company wanted an outrageous price for the estate so it just rotted away. A friend of Barack Obama, a Mr. Nesbitt purchased the estate for approximately half ($8 million) of what they were originally asking for it. So he had 3 homes built to replace the Robin Masters estate. Obviously that was a highly lucrative purchase, but it makes me very 😢 sad that the estate was never kept up with the much needed repairs, but the original asking price to purchase it I'm sure only a select few could afford.
To true that was a sad day it got knocked down. Another bit of history gone But I glad I got to see it when I was there many years back. There is a part 2 of this video shot from the main road in case you have not seen it.

I wish one of the Magnum PI cast would have had an interest in purchasing the Robin Masters estate but it really was not a financially lucrative purchase because of the ridiculous cost associated with the purchase. Tom Selleck purchased a beautiful seaside home on Black Point and Kahala Rd during the Magnum series which he eventually sold a few years ago.

Seawall neatly restored. Was in the house back in 2009, at that time the state of the house was really bad already, mainly due to very poor maintenance. Owning a big house is one thing, maintaining it is a different story.

@@alohapoppet6107 I work for a Dutch restauration company, specialized in restaurating realy worn down old buildings. The gutters/roofbeams were totally rotten. Roof was close to collapse. Demolition and rebuilding as a copy was cheaper than the needed restauration. That is what you get if you’re 20 years late. When a roof starts leaking action must be taken immediately. Mrs. Anderson did not have the means for this project.
I was there at Pahonu 8 years ago, the old buildings, gardens and palm trees were beautiful. Unfortunately now in my opinion the site is over developed with new buildings that have no character or beauty. There are very little of the old gardens left and just the original boat house still standing. Pahonu has lost its enchanting beauty of what it once was. Especially as it was used as the set for Hawaii five O and Magnum P.I. Aloha.
I was there 20+ years ago for a Sierra Club meeting... and while the grounds were beautiful, both the the interior and exterior of the residence were in mediocre condition. The gate house, as I recall, directly east of the Kalanianaole Highway, was used for storage and was in poor condition. The guest house, closest to the ocean, was in the worst condition... with several 1/3" wide cracks running almost from roof to foundation and the exterior window frames were rotted.
