Probably not. You need a badge to get into the exhibit hall as well as any panels, and I doubt he had one seeing as his parents knew nothing about it. Stephen probably thought he could just pay to get into the convention center at the door. I kinda wish he'd gone down there, just for his reaction to not being let in.
