I was 27 when this came out and was parting, kind of a druggie and cute and younger. But now I’m 37 and finally realized the lyrics are hinting at the dark side of that and trying to mention oh by the way this is actually killing you with a capital K, and as a middle aged guy now I can respect that. Because it does kill you. It’s not good. Not even a little, but the song conveys they understand and identify with the struggle.
