imo RUclips is maybe for the future but for everything built for twitch like all of the programs and websites that only use twitch is so much better for right now
Even though it's in the affiliate/partner contract to not restream, I still see people do it. Unless Twitch are personally paying attention to you, what's the worst that could happen.
I made the switch after listening to alpha gaming and seeing the shitshow twitch was displaying over the last few months. Didn't make a huge difference for me... 1 viewer andy gangs let's gooo !!!
As an affiliate I’ve been playin on other platforms, highly considering dropping the affiliate status just to always multi stream. Makes sense, small streamer and it’s a hobby
Ooor you can just use a second account (with the same email) and host your other account with the main account when you stream if you want your main viewers to join the other stream telling them "not to sub and stuff like that". You can still lure the other viewers from the other sites to your main twitch channel if they want extra content. Crazy am I right? XD
I used to multistream with restream and then I took the affiliate agreement, so no more of that. However, I kept using restream just for their chat app. I can filter out ! Commands and my bot so I don’t miss messages. It’s great. For whatever reason, it’s also usually way faster than my twitch chat either in a pop out window or docked in OBS. I get messages 5-10 seconds faster a lot of the time which is massive when it comes to chat interaction.
After a crazy exchange of contract in Brazil I'm leaving twitch because in Brazil a prime member costs R$ 7.99 ( U$ 1.40) and twitch pays me for each prime member R$ 2.40 ( U$ 0.42). My channel went from 1500 prime members to 200 primes after this change because brazilians are abandoning the platform.
i do multistreaming to YT,Twitch,Trovo the only thing that is annoying, is that you cant have a combined Activityfeed - at least i havent found a way to combine all of them in 1 dock
Not sure about trovo, but my RUclips and twitch activity feed combine nicely in stream labs... Good to know about that issue with trovo though, because in a few weeks I'm going to look into restreaming there myself as well.
Would actually love to see a video for the streambot etc and why they don't work on RUclips personally. I want to cancel my affiliate because as someone who wants to make RUclips content more than stream I'd rather have all my streams, videos, and shorts in one place but have the option to multistream to twitch, upload shorts to tiktok, etc.
I am Twitch Affiliate and I use Restream with OBS to stream on Twitch and it's great platform tbh because I face problem to stream directly from Twitch as I live in Turkey and there is no servers close to me while on Restream there is many servers including Istanbul server. However, I noticed there is chat delay. I am not sure if it's related to using Restream or there is something I need to change from OBS settings.
@@BelmontGaming Mostly because Twitch will not promote your stream in any way and it buries the small streamers at the very bottom of your game category...RUclips lets you have searchable title, a custom thumbnail, get recommended, etc.
As a small streamer starting out, honestly, RUclips (streaming) is useless. The discovery is mostly theoretical, and while the always-available encoding is great and the quality is without a doubt higher it doesn't matter if nobody watches. I tried multistreaming for a while...with and without Restream...and the eyeballs simply were not there on YT. I gain much more viewer engagement through emotes and channel points than by being on a second platform. That said Restream is still useful as an Affiliate, because RUclips is a place to get unlimited VOD storage. Just set them to Private by default and have them publish as Public/Unlisted a day later. You could upload them as videos too, but streaming them keeps them marked as "live" content, separate from your video uploads.
@@imniallg I suppose I’d have to go read the affiliate agreement to be sure, but I cannot imagine Twitch actually pursuing any action for Private streams that aren’t publicly published until after the 24hour exclusivity period has passed.
I've been streaming on Twitch for a year now. I also have an old RUclips channel. I started streaming using Restream as a way to transition into Twitch. I've never seen RUclips as a good streaming platform yet, and even though they are improving it's still got a long way to go. Also, Harris mentioned that Twitch doesn't even enforce their exclusivity clause. And I know a couple partners that break this clause with no consequences. I think right now the whole RUclips vs Twitch thing is just a "grass is greener" syndrome. RUclips isn't really better because like I said, many people don't think of RUclips when they think of live streams. And you think Twitch is bad with DMCA....? RUclips is the DMCA OG...
Perfectly timed video. I just paid for restream yesterday, and plan to start using it to stream to RUclips, Facebook, and Twitch. I just submitted my offboarding request to Twitch so I can leave the affiliate program. I had no idea about the pairs option, which is going to be amazing for an upcoming event I'll be hosting with another streamer that might want to have it live on his stream as well. Thank you! I transferred over to youtube a couple months ago, and so far I love it, however, it is kind of difficult to get settled in since there's not as much of an option for chat bots and extensions like twitch has, so I'd love to see another video discussing some of that stuff.
Before affiliate I was using restream and the main thing before signing the contract was the exclusivity clause and not being able to multi-stream without breeching contract. So i agonized over the decision. But the main problem with restreaming for me anyway was I had people whose first or main language wasn't English and I didn't know enough of their language to bridge the gap. It's been a while but if restream was possible on mobile I wouldn't have been able to minimize stream and use a translate app without losing people or dropping the stream. So I decided to stick with Twitch bc what is the point if I can't effectively communicate with the audience? It was mostly Chinese viewers and I felt bad because I can't read.
Been thinking about doing a public addiction recovery live stream, with gaming. Wanna be on Twitch but discoverability on for the nitch might not be great. This might work better. Twitch, RUclips, and Facebook. Thanks again Nutty.
Also another issue is that I use the twitch VOD audio thing so I can play music from Spotify and have it not send that audio to my VOD. I couldn’t figure this out with Restream so I went back to twitch only.
I’ve been thinking about going back to using restream, despite also being an affiliate. I’m a small streamer…for now, and what I’m thinking is, which ever hits the desired income first I’ll stick with that one.
I swapped from twitch to youtube a while ago. I prefer the way my stream gets turned into a VOD directly and since i can use a higher uploadrate the quality improves alot.
Hey Nutty, this is a great overview and helped me understand the different uses for OBS and Restream together and separate! The restream chat was something I was not aware of. I was wondering if you knew of a hack / work around to add chat to a RTMP stream hosted on a website so we can allow website (WordPress) users to participate in restream chat as well? Right now I can get them to watch and read the chat within the WordPress stream but no way to engage with them. The user case is: 90 minute stream 1x per week First 30 minutes: public on Facebook and RUclips and in the membership site using wordpress Next 60 minutes: Members ONLY on the wordpress site. Been mulistreaming having watched this for almost a year now, tried 8 diffrent streaming platforms last year Hopefully my experiences will help other people out
So one of the problems I find with giving up affiliate isn't the money, it's the access to emotes, etc. which my community loves, so it would suck to punish them like that. Saying that, it would be better to stream on RUclips (which I'm doing once a week), than twitch is the primary channel (also once a week), because of the hi-res levels of RUclips. I've moved to RUclips 3 months ago, love the platform for live streaming, but it's a different beast of pros and cons, it's not a mirror of Twitch. NUTTY, what are your thoughts on losing emotes, bit unlocks etc. by giving up affiliate for a restream, and what are the upsides of simply streaming to more channels at once? Wider community, sure, but wouldn't you do that already by going native per platform?
I don't like it lol. Twitch just needs to let every affiliate/partner multistream. The only people that should have exclusivity are those on paid contracts. If you're not paying me, you shouldn't be allowed to keep me bound to your platform exclusively.
@@IzzyIkigai yeah exactly. I’m considering just taking the risk and multi-streaming. I’ve seen maybe 100 bucks from twitch in the year I’ve been streaming but my (small) community loved fooling around the emotes and dropping bitties and all the other stuff. I don’t necessarily want to take that from them. But I also don’t want to “start over” since I’ll already be doing that on RUclips/trovo.
Absolutely love these videos man. Your sense of humor is on point 😂 . I love the concept of restream, however the only other service I'd be streaming to would be RUclips. I DJ techno for fun on Twitch and I hear that RUclips will mute you while you are playing if you are playing a track which is flagged for copyright. Twitch won't do this until the VOD is saved. Anyway, maybe one day this will change and I will be able to use this. Thanks for the video man!
Great Video, What i'd love in future is the ability for people who only stream using Xbox (or any other Console but primarily Xbox) to have the ability to Stream on RUclips. On Xbox if you want to Stream without a Capture Card, you have to use Twitch but my Content is on RUclips and also on RUclips, the VOD saves as a Video. On Twitch i get a bug a lot where a Streamer is streaming only in 1080p and it sucks as it ruins the experience but on RUclips you could pick a different resolution and not experienced the Resolution Bug.
I've been wrestling with switching for a couple of months now. What keeps me over on Twitch is I feel the connectivity to your audience is still better at the moment. It feels more organic and intimate, with how the audience can also interact with the stream through channel points. Also the extensions add a different layer to the live experience. I'm glad you made this video because I've been considering using Restream. I've multistreamed in the past, but because of my internet the video results weren't that good on the viewer end for RUclips viewers. My upload speed just ain't it. I also like the scheduled videos that Restream offers. While you can do scheduled videos on RUclips, not every platform offers that. I'm not affiliate or monetized, so I figured now is the best time to experiment with both. This video made me realize I've been over thinking it. That what's the worst could happen statement cut deep. That's exactly what happened to me, lmao.
I used restream for a little bit and I liked it but my twitch chat seemed to notice delay. I searched it up and restream adds 1-2 seconds of delay which I would think isn't noticeable but my chat made it feel like it was very prevalent
I have the benefit of a tiny audience, so the Twitch affiliate question isn’t even close to playing a factor, but I have had a lot of fun using restream to get in front of the most people possible. I’ve met a lot of cool folks, and I don’t think I would have done so without restream.
I stream to Twitch and Trovo , I really dont care much for subs and all that stuff, cause I realize it doesnt matter and I forget Im an affiliate, thinking of leaving it as well. but I used a multiple streaming plugin for OBS and it does it very well. Also wasnt Twitch removing exclusivity so you should be able to stream everywhere, read some changes they might be making...and I hope they do
Report was misleading. They are allegedly changing the exclusivity clause for partners from "you can't stream anywhere but Twitch" to "you can stream to other places, but not at the same time as twitch".
So Nutty, here is a question How would you manage alerts for each and every platform? as we know the more browswer sources you add to obs the more resources it consumes. Ive wondered this for years.
I like to blast music as my intro on my stream,,, can you launch twitch first ,,, then launch RUclips after your intro? Or do you have to launch all platforms at the same time ? Because streamlabs obs doesn’t allow me to launch one at a time….
I ended up making an alt incase I want to stream to youtube and just stream to my alt at the same time which doesn't have twitch affiliate or anything. I just have to let my twitch audience know about my alt when I do though. Cause like twitch or youtube, not every has both to watch for live streaming.
as far as I know yt doesn't have extensions yet like crowd control and other interactive ones. i don't have much time to edit videos so I just use yt mostly for shorts but i think i'd try to grow my yt channel first thru uploads then only switch once i'm big enough to earn. yt have a lot of big time creators that your channel will just get drowned by them especially if you at least don't have a small community to support you to start.
I use to stream to both via Restream for years. Even as a Twitch affiliate. It just seemed like Twitch didn't care but maybe it was mostly because I never got any huge attention that got any Twitch staff in my chat lol. I'm sure they pay way more attention to partners doing that. I only stopped doing it because I heard rumors that Twitch could recognize its getting fed a stream from restream vs directly and would avoid promoting your channel. Probably wasn't true, but I've been desperate, man!
You didn't hear it from me but I've never heard a case of a single affiliate getting in trouble. But I'm not saying you should break your contract *wink wink*
This is great thanks so I have a video that shows how to make the chat show up like in an over lay over my game play. I play irscing on triples ao how can I view the chat thanks
i had to actually stop streaming to youtube bc of so many issues of not being able to stream (happened like three times within two weeks) but it worked fine to twitch (and no it wasn't the stream key), and yt filtering out messages even though i had no filter active, which sadly took out a lot of lgbt related messages which weren't harmful at all, just general pride. in the end i just flipped over to twitch because at least i wouldn't have to worry if i would be able to even start the stream, and if my viewers could even talk in my chat. i have been wanting to move back over to yt but the filtering is still such an issue for me, and i still see people ask if their messages are coming through or not in channels i moderate. super annoying.
But the question is what nitrate do you send to reatream servers to be able to quality HD streams on Twitch and RUclips since they both have different bitrates they accept
IMO people overthink which platform they should stream to as a small streamer. The reality is that most your audience will come from people finding you through pre recorded content like this one, tik toks and shorts. If you’re not doing the work outside of streaming then there’s really no point in streaming at all. Unless your goal is to just stream to next to no one for years
I agree. Twitch vs RUclips debate is boring. You won't be discovered no matter what if you're content is shit. People should worry more about that than where to stream.
People seeing that they can watch your content on either platforms won't make them stop watching you. Instead of leaving twitch and not coming back (like me sometimes), they could just continue following the content on their preferred platform. AND the perpetuation of this ideia that multi platform stream is a "lazy shortcut" is the thing that generates the thought that make a viewer leave if the stream is a multi platform stream, is the excuse causing the problem.
Im only about to start streaming and this is great news. Wasnt really thinking about it till seeing latest news about Sykkuno moving to RUclips. I will be starting from zero so what do I have to lose by doing both really. :)
I have a question that needs answers. If i have a dedicated computer to stream a different overlay just to twitch (different camara angle too) then i can use restream with my main setup, and not break the affiliate TOS, right?
most important how to activate text to speech option so comment arrive its readed in stream and you dnt need to watch just reply back in live stream. i dnt see text to speech option in ReStream
I switched from Twitch affiliate and restream to all the platforms you mentioned. I mean why not you can monetize on other platforms so why bother with just Twitch
One thing about restream, they can't mirror stream to Facebook page unless You pay. And You know You don't want to use Your personal Facebook profile to stream
how do you get rid of the face cam if you dont want to show your face and also how do you get rid of the ''restream'' icon in the top right corner whilst you are streaming?
For the facecam... Just delete whatever facecam you have in your software. For the watermark, it actually does not appear in your stream. It only shows up for you on Restream and no other platform.
What about the alerts? i have everything setup in youtube stream via streamelements alerts if i wish to use twitch followers and youtube subscribers both as alerts is it possible to do that with restream or streamelements has option to use both?
Who here is considering making the switch over to RUclips? And if you’re still on Twitch, what’s stopping you?

How would this work with streamelements chat bot? Are all platforms gonna see the chatbot stuff?
Very helpful, thanks
Ive wondered this for years.
thats actually what i was hoping to find. the most efficient way to get multistream alerts and how to set them up
Devin Nash would be proud
I'll give it a go! Thanks, my dude.
I like to blast music as my intro on my stream,,, can you launch twitch first ,,, then launch RUclips after your intro? Or do you have to launch all platforms at the same time ? Because streamlabs obs doesn’t allow me to launch one at a time….
I started on RUclips (4,000 watch hours &1000 subs) i jumped to twitch to see if i could make it there as well. I just post videos on YT now
This works great for OBS does not work for streamlabs obs
Subbed! Thank you for this 🙌
Hey!! YT algorithm really want me to follow you. I’ve been seeing you errywhere
Thinking about testing the waters here on yt next year
I ended up making an alt incase I want to stream to youtube and just stream to my alt at the same time which doesn't have twitch affiliate or anything.
Hey nutty. Got any aspirations of streaming on LinkedIn too 🤣
I use to stream to both via Restream for years.
Facebook Level Up and Partner don't have exclusivity clause?
Would be great if can make some videos on how to pair obs and restream. Tips etc.
Thanks.
I know you mention that there is a monthly subscription. Is it better to use that or use the free option?
This is great thanks so I have a video that shows how to make the chat show up like in an over lay over my game play. I play irscing on triples ao how can I view the chat thanks
Can i switch on restream in between the platforms - so for example 1 hour on youtube and then 1 hour on facebook etc?
i had to actually stop streaming to youtube bc of so many issues of not being able to stream (happened like three times within two weeks) but it worked fine to twitch (and no it wasn't the stream key), and yt filtering out messages even though i had no filter active, which sadly took out a lot of lgbt related messages which weren't harmful at all, just general pride. in the end i just flipped over to twitch because at least i wouldn't have to worry if i would be able to even start the stream, and if my viewers could even talk in my chat. i have been wanting to move back over to yt but the filtering is still such an issue for me, and i still see people ask if their messages are coming through or not in channels i moderate. super annoying.
Thank you once again Mr. Nutty sir
But the question is what nitrate do you send to reatream servers to be able to quality HD streams on Twitch and RUclips since they both have different bitrates they accept
"I was going to make a video anyway but....they don't know that" hahaha.
@@nuttylmao 100% It’s still a fun topic I think haha. I just hope most people don’t let it weigh too heavily and realize content matters more
How can I get my OBS to stream to Twitch and Tiktok through Restream but only have one OBS open, while having 9:16 for Twitch and 16:9 for Tiktok?
People seeing that they can watch your content on either platforms won't make them stop watching you. Instead of leaving twitch and not coming back (like me sometimes), they could just continue following the content on their preferred platform. AND the perpetuation of this ideia that multi platform stream is a "lazy shortcut" is the thing that generates the thought that make a viewer leave if the stream is a multi platform stream, is the excuse causing the problem.
Big agree. Multi streaming isn't the problem, it's people being lazy content creators that's the problem.
Will this work if streaming off PlayStation 5 or is this just for PC
I been had dat. Been using Restream for a few years now.
Im only about to start streaming and this is great news. Wasnt really thinking about it till seeing latest news about Sykkuno moving to RUclips. I will be starting from zero so what do I have to lose by doing both really. :)
i used restream before but then i got affiliated on twitch so i stopped.. i really want to do restream again. thanks :)
Can you do this with chrome book?
I don't stream. I just enjoy watching your content. :)
Can you do it on Streamlabs too?
i was sleeping when this video premiered
I have a question that needs answers. If i have a dedicated computer to stream a different overlay just to twitch (different camara angle too) then i can use restream with my main setup, and not break the affiliate TOS, right?
most important how to activate text to speech option so comment arrive its readed in stream and you dnt need to watch just reply back in live stream. i dnt see text to speech option in ReStream
omg your so funny thanks for this awsome video i love it
I've been using restream for a while its great but I learnt a few things from the video thanks!
I use restream to stream to 2 different youtube channels twitch and dlove
Is there any negative to streaming both to RUclips and Twitch? I have 76 subs on YT and 140 Followers on Twitch and am affiliate
It kind of sucks for twitch not to let us stream to multiple platforms if you are an affiliate. I used restream before making affiliate
What about the new OBS plugin
thank you nutty for the continuous quality content!
What about the alerts?
i have everything setup in youtube stream via streamelements alerts
if i wish to use twitch followers and youtube subscribers both as alerts
is it possible to do that with restream or streamelements has option to use both?
