I just wanna say thank you. I’m a body man /frame man for 30+ years I have solidcore MiG welders. I decided to buy the Yes 135 flux core MiG welder so I can weld up some stainless steel exhaust with the stainless flux core wire. I never welded with the fluxcore before, I just want to say thanx for recommending the yes Flux core mig welder I’m impressed after practicing with correct wire stick out this welder is awesome for MiG and stick welding 👍👍
This is the video that I have been waiting on! You sold me on the Yes welder last winter. I finally got around to hooking it up but couldn't find any videos on the settings. Now I know what I've been doing wrong. Thanks again for all the videos!
Hey, BB. Was running out of welding gas today, so I switched over to the Flux machine. I have the Yeswelder as well.
I had my machine set around 90 as that seemed to be working. And my trigger hand was fast enuf today to not burn a lotta holes. Watching the video and see you were also set at 90, so I must of been doing something right😂
Ok, back to the video for me...
I like the no bullshit tutorial thanks billy
You're welcome, nothin to it the way we do it
❤ this, I’ve been using flux core (30 thou) for welding car sheet steel for over 20 years now, and though I’m not as slick as old Billy, it definitely gets the job done better than any other type of welding. The only mod I ever did to the welder (an old Lincoln flux core) was to install the 30 thou tip when I swapped to lighter gauge flux wire. I’m so happy you put this on, the local idiots will get a link to this video next time they speak up about how much better a mig is. The world is full of misinformation about welding, thank god you are putting correct info out there.
When all you got was a stick and they introduced the flux core I was hooked long ago !
Billy can you show us how you weld thin rusty sheet metal like old Ford Model a patch panel stuff with flux core. Great job on your videos. You are a true professional
Yes, I will demonstrate welding rusty metal soon
@@OldBondoBillyGreat job and is as strong as any 👍
Good tutorial Billy! I've been mig welding with gas for several yrs. I going to pick up a flux core to play and learn. My current mig does both but I'd like a separate flux core. Thanks for sharing your skill and knowledge.
Be a guy and buy it through a link in this video’s description 😉😉
Nice Billy . I love my Flux Core Welder , here is another trick I learned , if you have excessive spatter around your work area , turn the temperature setting up just a little more until you have almost no spatter and you will find it will also improve the penetration . Thanks for the vid .
When you did mention temperature setting, did you mean voltage setting ? My machine have just two adjust buttons , where one adjust voltage (tension) and the other adjust amperage/wire feed speed.
@@MUSTANGVERDE Yup , not wire speed but voltage . When I first started using this welder I had alot of spatter all around my weld and it took a while before I noticed that it was cleaner when I turned it up .
I talked to a welding professional at my welding supply store and he said that the small amount of flux inside that wire is burned up as it shields the weld you don’t have flux the way you would with a stick welder. You’re absolutely correct. Don’t listen to the idiots Billy.
I started with flux core wire and never needed to switch to mig wire and gas 👍 I do like the way mig and gas lays but not needed
Nice weld and info on flux core ,glad to hear it was a good learning experience. 😊😊😊
Great information BB Thanks! 💯
You're welcome😎👊
Awesome video. Because of you im running wild on my 65 mustang flux patched the Rt quarter and rocker. Replaced the lower and upper cowl. Fixed a mess from last owner on the driver quarter to sail panel. Now patchingva door. Took aome time to get the hang of it but flux is just fine.
Posted on a few mustang pages and hate ans stupidity of comments on flux is amazing.
Yer preachin’ to the choir about idiot trolls🤣🤣
You are a fun person to learn from. That is a great skill
I used gas for yrs, hated it, like it better than stick. When I learned about flux welding, I changed immediately and for the last 15 yrs it’s all I’ve used and it is best by far in body work.
⚡️Thanks ⚒️Billy 🔥
You're welcom Paulo. Thanks for watching
Great tutorial Billy!!
Thank you
I've welded for almost 30 years. I've never flux core welded. What little bit I have done was thicker steel. Looks like you have it set up to where you're kinda spray welding for a flat weld and low wire speed so that it doesn't over penetrate, plus all that extra wire helps control the heat too. That's actually pretty smart. Use cheap wire and no gas because you're just going to grind it out anyways.
For anyone looks bg for a good welder at a cheaper price than a Miller or Lincoln, Hobart handlers are good for the money. I think Miller owns them.
Yeswelder is my major sponsor. The entry level Flux135 is what I’ve been using for my vids for over a year. Very good for $130😉😉
Looks great to my old journeyman eyes. Looks like great fusion for sheet metal and uni body design. Nice with no noticeable distortion. Mig with gas useing the same process creates more heat zones and distortion. Flux core should be done more..WTG Video Billy
You are my favorite internet teacher for sure. 👍 thank you
Billy youre fluxxin awesome!
✌️ 😃 🍩
Don't see why you're getting people talking about you using flux core, it's been around for years and you have shown it works.
I converted my mig to flux core and as I told you about having used it for years. No. Gas blowing away in the wind as I weld outside always flux core is good.
I use 0.8-0.9mm as I find in mine the 0.6mm wire roll unravels too easily.
Great demo of stitch welding,Billy and it will last decades keeping these cars alive.
As always my best to you sir. Nearly forgot I reversed positive and negative so my earth is positive and gun negative.
Good stuff Billy!
😎💥
Thanks!
Been using a flux core welder for 15 years cause I am cheap and dont want to buy gas! Mine is a bit old and clunky with a dial and a few switch's , cant really tell the amps as there is no read out ,but gets the job done. I am thinking of getting one of these Yes welders to fine tune my sheet metal welding. I have put on rocker panels and repaired fenders , floors with old clunky...
Thks for all the lessons, am impressed by how much I dont know, even after yrs of doing it.
I've been a pressure welder for 40 years and I find billy extremely helpful for the body work I am trying now! I don't know if it would work on these welding machines but we had some dual shield welders on some sites and the spatter is reduced to almost zero. I suppose you could try leaving the settings for MIG welding and use flux core wire, not on this machine of course!
The issue I have with flux wire is that it seems to be a bit harder than MIG . When grinding more care is required to avoid metal next to the weld . I do agree that the flux wire is easier than MIG for auto body repair.
Thanks Billy you are spot on !
Did you watch the video? I show you right in this video how to grind it down without digging into the surrounding metal. Of course you need to lay the flat welds like I did to make it easy.😉😉
@OldBondoBilly some metal contours don't allow for easy grinding access , I use MIG in these situations, and its easier when working with a dremel or die grinder . Just saying dammit !
I’m sayin’ too, but you ain’t hearin’. I you flux core like I do, it’s less grinding than anyone’s mig weld😉😉
Thanks man. Learning a lot from your channel.
lol hummer love it he’s a good guy . Great teacher so sit down shut up and pay attention in the back rows of the classroom lol.
Great video Billy thank you
Thank you for watching
I have the yes welder 205 multi process unit. I'm going to try this method on a few mower decks. Thanks for showing!
Great work!👍
I'm new to welding. My main ambition is to weld sheet metal but starting learning welding 1/8 steel. I just bought a flux core welder running .035 wire on 110V (220 capable). What amperage would you recommend using your stitch method on the 1/8" steel? I saw you mentioned in another video. I like your style, attitude and thinking outside the box. Glad I found you here on YT.
Great video, thanks for the info!
Thank you
Thanks Unc..
Thank you for the step by step definitely helped me
Only recently began using Flux Core wire, so far I much prefer it to regular gas shielded MIG welding.
Looks good, I wish I would have kept mine
You tell eemm looks good enough for Car work besides your going to put some makeup over it anyway. Ladies do it all the Time Right. But you don't have to wake up the next morning to see it..😮
Oh I’ll have try that trun up amps
Stackin tacks!
Don’t you listen..?🤣🤣
@@OldBondoBilly Nope.
Hey Billy, with your experience, do you think rust is more prone at the flux core welding? And is there a way to finish the flux core weld to prevent it? Thanks O wise one
Fluxcore wire is steel. Fluxcore welds are steel. Steel welds are steel. Steel rusts the same as steel. Get it?😉😉. Ps. Watch my newest long video to see how to finish flux core welds
👍 👍 👍 👍
What size amp breaker panel fuse do you need to run one of those?
Preferably 20 amp
@@OldBondoBilly Thanks, Billy. I have one on the way because of you. 😂
What do you set your amps when you weld 18 gage
90-100
@@OldBondoBilly Thanks for the information BB!
I guess those amps means my 110v mig can't do flux core. Back to sanitizing the mile of rusted sheet metal I've gotta stitch next.
90 amps is no problem for 110volts. The amps are DC
Great video Billy! 👏👏👏
I know you have been doing this forever-longer than me.. and I’ve been at it for 25yrs now myself 😰🤦🏻♂️😅; I’m curious what your opinion of the old oxy-acetylene way they used to teach compared to flux, as far as strength , warping, and workability? I have used MiG/gas, and flux for years now… very little tig.
Oxy did seem to be a little more malleable when working the weld seams from what I remember-like if I needed to flatten out a seam area etc but It’s been several years since I used that equipment to be honest. I thought about digging all my equipment out awhile back-I may just be forgetting how much of a pain it was..lol
I welded with oxy acetylene for the first five years of my auto body career. Not difficult, but a lot of warpage.
@@OldBondoBilly thanks Billy! Stay cool and hydrated brother
nice one
If my welder only has wirespeed and voltage setting, how do I convert to amperage? Is the wirespeed and amperage related?
Increase the heat until you blow a hole in the metal in less than a second then weld like Billy
See y’all pissed him off enough you got yourselves a video.
I say you better save this one
I’ve got your title for it
Flux core bible
@OldBondoBilly : Gotta question for ya with the settings on my vevor 270a 3in1. I fluctuate between 70 and 90 amps like you, but what voltage should I run? I use 11.7-14v, but should I go higher? I want to say it maxes out at 26v. And does the burnback setting matter?
Also, that is the best footage I have ever seen of welding. Most clips are useless cause they're
zoomed out and all you see is welders flash lol.
I’m not familiar with that welder, or it’s settings
I've had a lot of amateurs warn me not to use un-guarded right angle sanders and grinders cause I'm gonna loose finger meat. Nope.... wish I did not know they'll catch yer shirt and gut you like a perch.
You will go blind if you flux weld long enough
I don’t need flux for that…😎😎
@@OldBondoBillyno doubt; I think all the dust + sweat running into my eyes is making me go blind 😵💫
Just the video I needed Damnit! Thanks Bondo Billy! 🫡
If you set it hot and twerk that trigger, you’ll have it made😉😉
@@OldBondoBilly I will soon master flux core as One Bondo Kenobi!
