I'm new to having a Traveler's Notebook. Started mine the day I received it on May 5, 2021. As an artist I find this fantastic because I can store the refills as I fill them, making one big book. also I love that I can carry so much more and use it for so much more. Anyway, I came upon your old video here because I was looking for how other artist handle watercolors in their journals.
Thank you so much for sharing your set up! It’s always enjoyable to see how creatives organize their traveler’s notebooks and seeing what works for their style and productivity. One thing that I recently discovered is “permanent” and “waterproof” are not synonymous. “Permanent” inks or pens mean that, once you put down a mark, you won’t be able to completely erase it from the paper. This characteristic is useful if a journal accidentally gets wet. The ink may run, but you will still be able to see the writing clearly. I think that “permanent” inks also have a degree of lightfastness. However, “waterproof” is definitely what you want to look for if you want to wash color over line work, as this means that the ink should stay put. Even then, you mileage may vary based on the paper that you are using as some ink and surfaces may not create a strong bond but, regarding the standard cellulose and cotton papers that we typically use for art and writing, most waterproof inks should perform as expected. I hope that this helps!
I keep my passport in my pocket for years. After a few years I had to condition it yearly. Still works great. Got a better card holder insert than the plastic ones because I was going through those every month lol they tear so fast for me. Thanks for sharing! I have the bigger passport in blue but I never use it and this video gives me motivation to use it finally instead of my plain notebooks 😊
I absolutely love your notebook. I always keep things too tidy but in your set-up I see beauty in imperfection. You are using everything, not setting it up for a video. Thank you for a breath of artistic fresh air. 🦋
I know this is an old video but I love how casual and artistic your journal feels. I love the TN and have used it for many years. I find my style changes year to year so it is fun looking back at them once in a while.
Thanks so much ☺️ Yes I absolutely love the TN and I am still pretty much using this set up ❤️ I have a box where I keep all my inserts that I like to look back over... I am still debating whether to get a bigger version too! Do you use any other sizes?
Thank you 🤗 I absolutely love this sketchbook set up, I am sure you will too! Best part of it is that you can change it as your needs change, and can go with you anywhere. Enjoy setting it up and using it, would love to see your set up!
Hi Karen! Sorry have been recovering from the birth of my son, so not very active online lately. I buy the A4 sketchbooks in art shops, usually quite cheap and then cut them to the right size....I find it works well and the paper is good for painting and writing!
