    Nice vid. Just bought the hubitat hub based on your recommendation. I currently am using home assistant. Got really angry after last update things stopped working. Too complicated. Keep up the good work.

    Thanks for this video! I've almost had this hub a year and still amazed at how capable it is.

    @31:40 You weren't sure what "device history" was.....On your device's 3 dot menu, once you click that, the screen that pops up, the top right corner has "history" listed (unless you have that toggle on to hide it) that history shows all recent events logged by that device. So you can access this info from the dashboard itself, instead of having to go out of dashboards and manually finding the device and opening it's driver setting page to access it.
    Great Video, Welcome to Hubitat!

    Ok I am pleased with Hubitat started yesterday my migration; I only have left the Schlage Lock I have not moved yet and the Pivot Smart Genius which will not go so I will take them at a loss. I love that it's local !

    Great video! Even for an IT guy, the Hubitat isn't exactly intuitive to get started with. I'm coming from Wink, which is dying a slow death, but ease of use is not one of the problems there. This helps with the learning curve. I'll stay subscribed. Thanks!

    What do you in regards to A/V control? Multi room music and surround sound systems? Does hubitat have ways to work with that?

    Can devices exist both in Wink 2 hub universe and Hubitat world at same time?

  • @sdick01
    @sdick01 4 года назад

    So on this hub, does this completely override the need to use individual company apps to control the devices? For example, bypassing ewelink to use sonoff swithces, or bypass smart life to use teckin smart bulbs?

    Great video. Been following you for a while. Just came over to Hubitat from Wink. Have most of my devices over and up and running. So the dashboard is my next project. You say to plan it out before you actually start creating the dashboard. Do you use Google Presentations to help visualize that or something else? Thanks.

    Have you ever had a latency issue? When I'm in the device settings, it's taking about 5 seconds for an outlet to turn on/off. The hub is 12 feet away. I only have one GE enbrighten outlet atm. Everything was working fine one day, latency issues the next.

    • @Giggity4242
      @Giggity4242 5 лет назад

      @@DIYSmartHomeGuy1 I heard from the staff and it was a line of sight issue. The hub was in a closet and two HVAC vents were in the way. And since I only have one device so far, there isn't a mesh network. That got me thinking though about how to send signals. If a switch is at the bottom of the stairs, the top switch is going to be further than 10 feet away. When you were setting up your network, did you have any devices that were too far away?

    I am just getting into all of this SmartHome stuff, I only currently have Rako Lighting and a few WiFi smart devices which I control with Google Home?Mini and as such I suppose I don't really have a SmartHome, per say.
    Anyway I have a couple of Hub questions....
    1. What happens of a device at the opposite end of the Hub looses connection (i.e. the Hub has no antenna)?
    2. You say this all works locally, how or can you control say lighting via the internet still?
    3. Do you just have the one Hub or more than one for greater coverage?

    any idea if is possible to change the dashboard image?? I mean you showed all your dashboards main page (main dashboard, living room, outside, scenes etc), but they look all the same like an standard 3 rectangles icon. Any way to change it? so for example for the main dashboard I we could put a house icon, for main room an icon like a bed or whatever..

    • @aldosalazar8912
      @aldosalazar8912 5 лет назад

      @@DIYSmartHomeGuy1 no, I mean the dashboard image not the devices image(one step before getting to the devices page). When you first click on dashboard(at the left upper corner) it will take you to all your dashboards, so here is where I mean l. In the video all of your dashboards had the std 3 rectangles images so wondering if we can change them.

    Is there a way to rename the devices names to something shorter in the dashboard?

    • @aldosalazar8912
      @aldosalazar8912 5 лет назад

      @@DIYSmartHomeGuy1 yeap I have renamed before on the device page but normally what I have been doing in smartthings (I am migrating from ST to HE) is to name the devices the first letter as an L when is a light, an M when is a motion sensor and so on something like L-kitchen for kitchen light, this way all my lights are together in my devices list, all my motion sensors together etc, as they are in alphabetical order as in smartthings there is no way to rearrange the things manually and I am assuming there is no way as well in HE. But when coming to the dashboard I want only to show the word kitchen without the L so looks better and in the dashboard I do not need the L because I can manually arrange the tiles (with some pain as you said but is possible). In ST I am using a 3rd app calles ActionTiles to have a dashboard and they give option to put another name like a label to show in dashboard. Anyway in HE dashboard to do this?

      On the Apps page, click on the gear icon next to the Dashboard name. scroll to the bottom and there is a Remove Child Dashboard button. Should do the trick.
