- also: squashing a walrus with a hot air balloon. (Being able to do random stuff like this is one of the reasons why I love this game so much xD)
This is from Mission 3: White Death, on Normal difficulty.
Notes on the Xbox version:
running doesn't appear to make any noise, you can run up to or behind enemy soldiers and they won't notice. (I'm fine with this, it's a concession to the imprecision of trying to control movement with a thumbstick)
when you're wearing a disguise, enemies are more forgiving of "suspicious" behaviour than in the PC version. You can run within their viewcone as the Spy, Natasha or when wearing an enemy uniform and they won't attack.
even on Very Hard difficulty downed commandos can still be revived with first aid kits, despite the manual saying otherwise.
if there's a way to make vehicles move at "fast" speed (holding shift button on PC), I haven't discovered it.
there seems to be an audio bug with the end-of-mission cutscenes, it'll continue to play the level music at the same time as the standard cutscene audio.
Tech specs stuff:
playing on a v1.6 PAL original Xbox
softmodded with Rocky5's softmod
switched to NTSC and 480p
480p achieved with a third-party (cheap & poorly-shielded) component cable
stock HDD replaced with a 120GB IDE HDD (Seagate ST3120022A)
Commandos 2 game disc ripped & installed to HDD using DVD2Xbox
Commandos 2 480p patched with JCRocky5's Game Loaders script
playing the game directly from the HDD
using stock Xbox S controller
gameplay footage captured using AVerMedia C281 Game Capture HD (old tech, but it mostly gets the job done)
output capture file display dimensions corrected with Handbrake
footage edited, upscaled & encoded with Shotcut
