I found an old prophet 600 here in China and picked it up for $200. Needed some work and finally found a guy who was willing to help. Said guy then stole it and I never saw him again.
Should be a big seller. I like the Korg Minilogue run in slave and master mode. 2 of them = 8 voices. Pretty nice option. Where many synths shine or breakdown is in the clarity of the analog outputs. This clarity varies even within the same manufacturer. For Ex., if you listen to the 880, 1080, 2080, 5080, line from Roland some sound great, others sound like there is a blanket over the sound, sounding very dull. This is because of the analog outputs not all being created equal! Always consider this, its the last exit point of all synths. The JV880 sounded great, as did the Roland S760 sampler outputs. As Roland expanded the line up, not all sounded good, I recall being disappointed and surprised.
Glad I've been a subscriber for a while, I'll be honest, anything Behringer right now I would love. Hard to argue that they arnt the most important synth manufacturer right now. They are doing god's work.
Oh gosh, this is essentially the synth that I've been looking for. I'm not interested in an actual vintage synth for a number of reasons (price, maintenance, size more often than not): but this has the Radiohead/Postal Service analog poly vibe I've been hunting. The sounds of the aughts, via the tech of the 80's, made accessible in the 20's
Postal service used mostly digital polysynths. The Kurzweil and Nord keyboards. Drum machine was the OG elektron drum. You might already know this, but since you’re a fan thought you may be interested :-)
Radiohead have been using the Prophet 08 for years. The Rev 2 isn’t crazy silly price wise and adds a lot of features that this doesn’t have. Wouldn’t be too surprised if the module is available second hand for not much more than this. But this does do a lot of things right.
@@3rdStoreyChemist Are they still? I thought they moved on after like the KOL and Daily mail/Staircase era. Idk, I had a couple prophet 08s and they were pretty lackluster
You should stop saying this, the prophet 600 which this emulates has a far wider range of sounds it can achieve, the deepmind relies on dual mode and lots of effects it’s not a bad synth but doesn’t have a lot of character @Satanic Panic Fun and Games
@@jansonrawlings8169 Not seen anything to suggest they're using something else. Never got on with the OG, but the amount of pro users that got great things out of them, do have to a step back and question how much of the issue is the synth. I got on much better with the Rev 2 and its one of very few synths I regret selling actually. I can understand why people don't get on with either, as its not particularly exciting played in solo, but I found it easy to mix, which can't be said of many synths.

Nice to see the legend Nick Batt is being mentioned Can't wait to see their demo on SonicState! This looks like an incredible bread and butter analog workhorse. I'd much rather program basic sounds on a knob per function synth like Pro-800 than my menu divey DM12D.
@@dankeplace agree i had the dm6 and it was ok nothing to write home about the dm 12 sounds good cause of it’s dual mode but to me it sounds fake in dual mode not like a real vintage poly
@@georgegeorgio1751 This is why I use it as a backing synth, with its built in FX it just seems better than wasting more money on an FX box + synth. It is versatile but it's not my go to synth for pads. My Rev 2 cost a little more than the DM12D and totally destroys it. The 2 synths do complement each other though, just that the menu diving on the DM12 is appalling.
@@dankeplace The iPad editor app makes it far more tolerable for complex routings and especially for effects management -- handling FX is the worst part through the HW UI ... That's going to be my primary consideration when I pick a new Analog poly -- leaning toward either a Novation Peak or maybe save for an OB6 or Prophet Rev 2 Desktop.

Depends which filter you like; Deepmind is the Juno 106 filter, this one is a version of the Prophet filter. They both sound great but they do sound quite different. Also, the Deepmind is, well, deeper, with a great mod matrix and amazing effects. Excellent for making complex evolving patches. I’d go with the Pro 800 if i just wanted an analog poly for basic chord stuff because i love the richness Prophet filter design. But at the price point you could buy both for the same price as many medium-tier synths.
I don't think it was covered very well in this video. The 800 also has a huge amount of MIDI implementation under the hood. Just about all of the settings can be controlled via MIDI cc. So if you like those manual filter sweeps or ADSR changes, I believe this thing can do that. I don't know if it transmits MIDI cc for each control. But if it does... wowzers.
Mainly, I hope this leads to Sequential thinking about doing a desktop version of the Take 5, for around 900. But, competition hasn't stopped Fender guitars pricing to the moon. They could call it the Sequential Take Out. Remove the non-essential stuff, plain casing. Take out the less than amazing parts, like the effects. I could even live without the headphone output, expression pedal I/O, possibly the sequencer. And even mono I could live with at a push. But this does sound good, and it's nice to get the 8 voices, the gligli and it be rackmountable. Makes me wonder what was up with the UBXA video hmmm maybe they can't tell us.
Dear jack, could we please have an out door busking demo of a Behringer clone (but make sure you don't record the audio correctly so chat goes mental) which has a bit of on cam maltese falcon action for absolute peak Anderton Keys vibe

That is so good! I just picked up a Behringer Model D and a Swing as my Christmas goodie for this year, don't tell Lee or Pete, but I can see adding one of these too as soon as they are out. I'm even poking around the idea of adding in the other desktops that Behringer have released like the K-2, Pro-1, Cat, Neutron, and Wasp Deluxe. For what I dropped on a Bassbreaker 30R I could have an instant classic synth collection that I can't play. 🤪 Yet.
Wait, the gligli mod also included midi compatibility for the perimeters. Is the 800 going to also have the capability to respond to CC automation via midi????
Jack you’re not playing to your strengths when demoing these analog poly synths .You’re missing a trick. Jack you’re such a great piano player ….so therefore MIDI this module to an 88 key piano or Rhodes or something similar . Matt Johnson always partners and LAYERS the poly synth to a piano of sorts…. Not for fun but for a very good reason 👍👍

@@gersonpagan the UB-Xa. My guess is that the surprise launch of the Oberheim caused panic at Behringer. And whilst he’s ok at playing standard stuff like organ and piano
he really should try listening to some Jarre , Numan , Duran , Kool and Gang if he wants people to sit up and take notice, this has nothing to do with Xmas we all get into the season when it arrives where not there yet so don’t try that one on me.

I watched exactly 3 minutes of the video and Im ready to go buy one. lol
This sounds absolutely mega! Love that they've included total midi control as well, imagine that glide sound and using an expression pedal on the filter daaaym!
Sounds exactly like what I need, and for once I'll be able to afford it! Thanks Behringer
This sounds amazing! Behringer smashing it out of the park with this one - 8 voices!! Love it! (I appreciated the nods to Sonicstate 😍)
I found an old prophet 600 here in China and picked it up for $200. Needed some work and finally found a guy who was willing to help. Said guy then stole it and I never saw him again.
ouch!
I wonder if I’ll still need/want my Pro-1 after getting this? 🤔
Gonna need this one.
Waiting for that synth...bomb 💥
Oh boy,I might have to pre-order this🗽🛸
Been waiting a while for this one! I have the Pro 1, but now I gotta get the 800!!!
8:03 is the best part of the demo, when Maltese Falcon starts to play
All these synths and yet NO Awesome Midi Keyboard / Controller?!?! WOW
Used to have a Prophet-600 back in the day. This might very likely be my next purchase. ❤
Anyone notice that fists pumps engage Scooby Doo Time Warp ®?
Still in bed so haven't listened yet but will and that was quick too Jack, I distinctly remember a convo that something something bang, here we are lol.
Nice to see the legend Nick Batt is being mentioned Can't wait to see their demo on SonicState! As you can see, the Deepmind has induvidual led's that are indicating the amount of voices that are being used, is that also visible in the Pro-800? I don't see blinking lights on the pro-800 that would've been a nice feature.
there are no voice led on the 800 no - we have no space to add a strip of led and keep the look
@@ogasi1798 I know its fully cramped with Electronics, but I think there is more than enough space to integrale a small strip led in this box, or a kind of active voice indication, how are you so sure, there is no room left? Are you part of the engineering team?
@@Dolle_Man yeah, i developed pretty much every release since rd8 - trust me when i say the interface would get ruined if we added a strip of led

After Anderton's bombed the UB-Xa preview so hard last time, they definitely need someone to come in and oversee the testing of Behringer gear. I'm glad to see Daniel came.
That UB-Xa demo wasn't so bad - it was just Jack wanted to hear the raw waves and play it somewhat stabbily.. when the masses just wanted to hear Jump sounds 😂 I don't think it would have mattered if prototypes of it weren't in such short supply
Where is the Solina?
Mono out, no effects? I kind of like that. Gives you a clean slate to start your effects chain.
analog, its kinda how it should be,,
Exactly, we all have all kind of pedals now!
L and R outs is my one wish for it....but maybe they want you to buy 2
@@fortheloveofnoise right and left outs only needed if you have chorus or panned voices

This looks like an incredible bread and butter analog workhorse. I'd much rather program basic sounds on a knob per function synth like Pro-800 than my menu divey DM12D.
DM12D is a pita, but it can do things that my other gear doesn't, I use it for backing, sometimes additional padding on pads.
UI is just ballz.
@@dankeplace satanic panic thinks it’s the best
Sadly I haven't used my DM12 much since I got my Hydrasynth -- which really opened my eyes to how much of a difference a well designed UI makes. That's going to be my primary consideration when I pick a new Analog poly -- leaning toward either a Novation Peak or maybe save for an OB6 or Prophet Rev 2 Desktop.
It sounds amazing!
Pro-800: singing beautiful sounds
DeepMind: 266 BPM!!!!
just awesome!
Well I thought I was done buying synths. Oh who am I kidding, I’ll never be done. Great demo. Gives that prophet sound without the price tag or old synth issues.
I already got a Deepmind12, do I need this one or I can make my Deepmind12 sounding the same?
Price too good to pass up, preordered baby!!
Sounds awesome! But I do seem to hear some indications that the release shape of the envelopes still have this weird linear shape where the release fades out in an unnatural way, as if it suddenly cuts off. I'd prefer more of an exponential shape, as it sounds more natural. This wasone of the points of criticism towards the GliGli thing, I think. I hope we get some options as far as the envelope shape goes :) Otherwise it does sound marvellous!
we have fast linear, slow linear, fast expo and slo expo so far - we may add more shapes in FW updates down the road, let's see 🙂

I'd love to hear the DeepMind vs Pro800...

Game changer for Behringer, will be no 1. You can chain 8 VCOs to one mono unison, also GliGli + Japan version noise generator. 😀
Awesome!!
But if it does... wowzers.
What do you expect from andertons he has always mucked around too much trying too hard to be funny
@@georgegeorgio1751 They are a synth shop. I don't expect them to deep dive on one product. I'm a 50 year old audio nerd. I just shrug.
Makes me wonder what was up with the UBXA video hmmm maybe they can't tell us.
is this more similar to a prophet-600 or is it basically their version of a poly pro-1?
Have a feeling I’m gonna be competing with Kevin Parker for a unit
Nick Batt shoutout!!!
Dear jack, could we please have an out door busking demo of a Behringer clone (but make sure you don't record the audio correctly so chat goes mental) which has a bit of on cam maltese falcon action for absolute peak Anderton Keys vibe
Kinda glad they sent someone this time haha.. No offense! This synth sounds GREAT and really is something off a game changer. Portability and polyphony? Amazing
Getting MAJOR GAS 😍😍😍
That is so good! I just picked up a Behringer Model D and a Swing as my Christmas goodie for this year, don't tell Lee or Pete, but I can see adding one of these too as soon as they are out. I'm even poking around the idea of adding in the other desktops that Behringer have released like the K-2, Pro-1, Cat, Neutron, and Wasp Deluxe.
For what I dropped on a Bassbreaker 30R I could have an instant classic synth collection that I can't play. 🤪
Yet.
Wait, the gligli mod also included midi compatibility for the perimeters. Is the 800 going to also have the capability to respond to CC automation via midi????
Yes.
I agree. Still it's not embarrassing to watch like the time Behringer got beaten to the drop and ended up with a video that wasn't a good look for Jack or the product.
@@unclemick-synths which video was that?
@@gersonpagan the UB-Xa. My guess is that the surprise launch of the Oberheim caused panic at Behringer. I imagine that they threw a poorly set-up prototype into the back of a car and raced down the motorway to Andertons and gave them 30 minutes to play something on it and get it up on RUclips ASAP.
