The "o" sound is so difficult for my American mouth! Your breakdown is really great and I was sort of maybe a little bit starting to get it! Also your bubbly personality really makes all of your videos just the best :)

I've just discovered your page and love that you're helping to teach Australian accents that actually sound like aussies. Also, by the way, Harmony was always my favourite on The Fairies and it was such a big part of my childhood. Keep up the good work!

Wow, Candice, this is some great explaining! I can finally get that elusive "o" sound in the way you 'Strayans say "no". I've been practicing just by listening to some news clips (Today show funny bits) and car fixing (Mightycarmods). The details you are now teaching is a great way for me to refine my accent! Thank you from Canada!

Hey Candice, I know it's been a while since this video came out but I think the views discrepancy between these two videos and the short vowel one is partly down to the almighty Algorithm preferring to promote videos over ten minutes long - so I'd suggest you could do a quick 'n dirty edit combining the two to hopefully close that gap (plus you can run two ads on it if you want to go that way). It's a shame these haven't been as seen, because the long vowels are what everyone knows us for - and this video really explains it very well IMO.
EDIT: Mind you, I just noticed the last accent video you did on here was over 13 minutes long and it bizarrely has much fewer views than this one. RUclips's algorithm is a mysterious magic box sometimes, I guess.

Please do more! I think some of these “sounds” sounds like some of the Swedish letters (Ä, Ö) that English people don’t use. I’m Swedish🇸🇪 I love the Australian accent the most. Can you maybe talk about consonants next time? For instance when you pronounce the “T” in a word as a “T” or as a “D”

Ow becomes just short O and long oo
Ae becomes short e and short i
    Long re becomes ee Lol
    And so on 😂
But the magic behind the complicated ones is wonderful

Why is "no" so dang difficult!? Lol i think I had to play back that one part of you sounding out the four diff sounds about a thousand times and I still haven't got it right. U should do a video just on the word "no" so I can stop driving my friends and family absolutely crazy with my struggles to say that word. My son has banned me from the accent altogether because it's that annoying. Sigh. I don't understand the y sound..... lol and my second "oh" keeps vanishing. Whhyy. I've been trying to just do uh oh uh oh and then adding the oo but then the y decides not to join the other vowels. Please help

I'm from England and that accent is almost the same as mine. It's hard to believe Australia was colonised over 200 years ago and is over 10,000 miles away. I realise media can influence an accent over time, but how do you explain the other 150 years?

hey candice serious question: When do you use the australian 'o' in words that contain the word 'o', for eg; its obvious 'no' uses the australian 'o' but words like 'board', 'court, 'officer'; and etc doesnt use it, cuz if you do it just sounds weird. any insight would help thanks
