Aimee Sea On a smooth surface like that, I’d just spray paint over the edge of the tape with a clear coat. Let that dry and it’ll seal the edge of the tape and when you paint over it, it shouldn’t bleed.
BellyUpFish Gotcha, I added the tape without the calk and bled so maybe I should use that. I tried the spray painting and it was to harsh and the paint was spraying into the pool water so I had to go with the brush way
If you’re painting on drywall, I wouldn’t use the caulk at all. If I’m painting on a smooth surface, I’ll seal the tape with a primer. Press the tape on the wall and hit it with a primer coat, let it dry and it should seal the edge of the tape so it won’t bleed.
Its not 100 percent im sure but it looks dam good! Way better than my method, thank you!
Cool tip thanks for sharing!
JBFromOZ Welcome.
Smart!
What do you recommend for a cement floor? I have to paint white lines on the edges of my pool. I keep putting tape and it still bleeds nor sticks

Will this work on exterior stucco that is not smooth but rough?
Depends on how rough the stucco is. I’m not sure that it will work, but you could give it a shot.
What if you need to apply a 2nd coat? Can’t remove tape right away because I need to wait for coat to dry and then apply next coat.
PennyPie Are you painting OSB or a smooth surface like drywall?
I had the same question. I’ll be painting on drywall

Wouldn’t clear caulk be better?
I guess in terms of not discoloring the color you’re putting down, it might work better. Never tried it.
Should I wait till the caulking is dry to paint?
Yvette Rosales Depends on the color. I was using white paint, so I went with the caulk slightly still wet.
