Great list and collaboration. As for good ones for beginners, and am inclined to think of things that are not too brutal, long, or very lore based. Either Lunar game comes to mind as well as Grandia 1 or 2, and Ni no Kuni.
The fact that Kingdom Hearts ended the way it did felt like a good life lesson. The whole message leading up to the ending was just so bittersweet. This was before Square merged with Enix.
100% agree with FeralInferno's pick of Chrono Trigger. The game has the best flow in terms of difficulty increasing throughout the game with perfect spots for difficulty spikes that are challenging but not too hard. The game takes it time and by the time you have all the party members, you know how everything works. Just more reasons why it's the GOAT.
Wow this was packed full of creators and absolute gem picks for beginners! Kingdom Hearts, Paper Mario, Ys 8, Valkyria Chronicles. All games that I loved and would highly recommend. Quite a few games on this list I need to play too, and one in particular I'll be getting to fairly soon 👀
A lot of great picks here like Suikoden, Chrono Trigger, Paper Mario, FFX, Kingdom Hearts 1, Dragon Quest 11, etc. Since you asked, I would add Miitopia and Super Mario RPG (original or remake) as great starter RPGs. :)
Indeed And yeah definitely Super Mario RPG is a great starter RPG for sure. I was thinking of picking that, but then I thought for variety sake, pick Kingdom Hearts 1 instead especially when Paper Mario was selected!
Total Level brought me here, and this is a great idea. Not only are these games [well, at least the ones I've played, got more here to see] good starting points, but great games to boot. Chrono Trigger is one of my fave games ever, and I also enjoy Paper Mario and Kingdom Hearts.
