I-280 is regarded as one of the most (if not most) scenic urban freeway in the country. The windy turns through San Francisco, and the rolling foothills as you go down the peninsula make a very pleasant drive. I-280 also seems to be pretty famous as it passes right through Silicon Valley.
I wonder what happened with the lines on that HOV ramp at 14:51, maybe concrete resurfacing? I've seen Caltrans do that on a lot of bridges in southern california, and I keep questioning why they removed the paint lines on some ramps.
    Great video as always.

I'm guessing that it must be concrete resurfacing of some kind. I've seen that before as well on bridges. Thanks for the comment.

my favorite urban freeway in the world. i would reserve cars in college just to drive around the bay and do all of 280. that stretch between Daly City and Mountain View is unlawfully scenic. 🙌🏿

Happy to have another video from San Francisco for 2023, which is, in my opinion, another pretty underrated series on this channel. Did you know it was in this aera where one of the most Famous serial killer in U.S.A., Ed Kemper committed most of his murders. He mostly killed young women between 15 & 24 years old. He got sentenced to life in prison (The death penality was suspended between 1971 & 1974 in California) He's still alive today, he's 74 years old & is currently imprisoned at Vacaville prison. He participated on a lot of reportings about him, which contributed on his popularity.
I would definitely love to see a video from the Golden Gate bridge someday, as on my knowledge, I saw no videos on this channel featuring this bridge & this is one of my fav. bridge of America & one of the most known ones. Also, I saw that you are already close to the 6k subscribers, only 50 more & you,ll reach that millestone.
& to finish, did you know that we narrowly avoided a powerful solar storm that could paralyze the internet for weeks? Can't you imagine, there wouldn't be any Asphalt Planet videos for all that time & my weekly meeting at the end of the week would've been paralyzed as well. For example, we remember the same thing in Quebec, in 1989, where all the population had no electricity for about 9 hours (I wasn't born at this time).

I've driven across the Golden Gate Bridge on several occasions, but only on trips that I took before I started filming highways.

It’s interesting to see the signs mention places I’ve only heard of and read in reference to mainly tech companies (San Mateo, Cupertino, Mountain View). Basically giving me flashbacks of addresses written on the various boxes of Gizmos bought over the past 40 years or so. It kind of doesn’t dawn on you that “hey, those are real places”.

Definitely some funky gizmos coming out of San Francisco Bay.

I-280 CA is a bypass of US 101/Bayshore Fwy as you can see and is America's most beautiful urban freeway. Comparing that to I-287 in North Jersey, they're both beautiful and scenic to drive. However, I-70 through the Rockies of Colorado is America's most beautiful rural freeway. Keep that in mind. I know FWJ clinched all of it for southbound in 2019 while RockersK08 clinched all of it for northbound back in 2021, but your twist of this video is to take CA 85, which is a bypass of US 101 around San Jose, CA which is a good choice for the video.

Are you allowed to use the HOV lanes?

Yes if you have two people (including driver), motorcycle can use HOV lane without needing two people.

The HOV lanes are peak hour only in northern California, so the HOV lanes weren't in force when I drove through here.

@@AsphaltPlanet1I take the 280 every weekend. I can tell you that even if the rule isn’t enforced in the hour, the drivers still follow the rule.

Great drive! What do you think of the partial opening of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway with 8 lanes (expandable to 12 lanes) and the rest of the opening in December 2023 in India at 1,350 km long? Here's the video:
