5G CONNI - Robot Platform with Edge Intelligence and Control

5G technology brings two essential building blocks that promise a considerable increase in flexibility and efficiency to manufacturing: Ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC) and integration with edge computing.
Using this technology, 5G CONNI partner Bosch was able to take a robot platform and move a majority of the robot controller away from the device and into the edge cloud.
The 5G CONNI project brings together major players in ICT and Industry 4.0 from Europe and Taiwan with the joint vision of paving the way for industrial 5G applications and accelerating deployments.
Its overall objective is to demonstrate 5G radio, network and cloud technologies as enablers for future Smart Factories by integrating private local 5G networks into a multi-site end-to-end industrial communication testbed.

Das Projekt 5G CONNI vereint wichtige Akteure der IKT und der Industrie 4.0 aus Europa und Taiwan mit dem gemeinsamen Ziel, den Weg für industrielle 5G-Anwendungen zu ebnen und den Einsatz zu beschleunigen. Das übergeordnete Ziel ist es dabei, 5G-Funk-, Netzwerk- und Cloud-Technologien als Wegbereiter für künftige intelligente Fabriken zu demonstrieren, indem private lokale 5G-Netzwerke in ein standortübergreifendes End-to-End-Testfeld für industrielle Kommunikation integriert werden.
