Hi Chris, I am thinking of getting this, I have already several of your products, they are great. Would using a silicone brush to spread the liquid be ok? What about creating a camo pattern on an aircraft, would the edges be jagged or hard?

Hi Buddy, we tested with mu;on brush not should about a silicone one but should be OK. If you do camo with the fluid the edges will be sharp, depends on the pattern some call for sharp some for smooth edges. Best regards, Chris
I tried a lot of brands and most of the fluid is hard to get it where you want it. A lot of them retract. In particular on transparent parts. VMS doesn't seem to do so. Sweet.

Really important tip/step missed in this video. Perhaps it SHOULD go without saying, but for that small percentage of people that may not already know htis, "Always make sure the paint has COMPLETELY cured/dried before applying the masking fluid." I would even go as far as waiting 24 hours depending on what type of paint you are using and how heavy a coat or how many layers you used. If you apply ANY masking fluid before you are certain the paint below it is completely dry, you will risk ruining the finish on it or lifting it of the surface of the model. I have heard complaints from other before about how they do not liking to use masking fluids and it is usually an issue of they didn't know how to use it properly.

Great video and superb results, but if you have to precision paint on masking fluid, why not just paint by brush? Is there an advantage?
Hi Chris, thanks for your kind comment. There main idea is that we can airbrush the paint for over masked wheel for better finish, a lot of people prefer to airbrush their wheels which eliminates brush marks and such. I'm myself a fan of both techniques - sometimes I will paint my wheels with a bush, without the masking fluid and sometimes I will go with airbrush and mask them. The geometry of a wheel makes me decide of which way to go. All the best, Chris
My thoughts exactly. And one of the main things about becoming a good painter is knowing how to correct mistakes. No need for this type of masking.
@@ShipWreck68 Anthony: I think that VMS's main point was that this method allows you to avoid using the paint brush. A long time ago (1960s!) I used to paint everything by brush with Humbrol enamel paints, and I was very happy with the results. But for a variety of reasons, the quality of most of today's paints has gone to heck when applied with a brush. I recently re-started modeling, and tried brush painting with Tamiya Flat White XF-2 and with Tamiya Brown X-9, and both were a total disaster: paint semi-drying on the brush half-way between the paint bottle and the model, and brush marks all over the place. Vallejo does much better on the brush than Tamiya, although I think not quite as well as the old Humbrol enamels. Tamiya metallics (silver and gold) do quite well on the brush. Anyway, I am now staying away from brush painting as much as I can, and I think that VMS's product could be quite helpful in certain situations.

I dont understand why you didnt spray on the wheel colour before the tire so you would have only needed to use the liquid mask once?
Hi, this was dictated by the wheel geometry sometimes it's easier to mask the tire and sometimes it's easier to mask the center of the wheel, depends on the model really. You can naturally do it however you like. Thanks a lot for the comment! Best regards, Chris
Very good video! How do you clean or recover brush?
Thanks Arnaud, Trick is you can't let the brush dry up and clean it quickly with water. Once it's dry all you can do is comb it with a knife to remove the mask. Best use cheap nylon brushes or toothpicks. Chris
Within a very few uses, this Liquid Mask will really mess up your brush if you use it as if you are painting. Your brush will look like it's stuck a finger into an electrical socket. HOWEVER, my wife (the artist in the family) gave me an excellent solution. I first dip the brush into liquid soap. (I used Dawn, but other soaps will probably work too.) Then I spread the Liquid Mask with the brush. The liquid soap does not seem to affect the performance of the Liquid Mask in any way. At the end, I clean the brush with water. So far, the brush that I've been using looks perfectly pristine!
This product is what i'm looking for, but I have a question. How long can this mask be applied? If I keep it for a few days on the part before removing it, will it lift the paint underneath it? Keep doing a great job.

Hi, 5-15 minutes depending on thickness in room temperature, 2-5 minutes with hair dryer. :) Chris

Water while the liquid is still wet. When it dries it can't be dissolved, only removed mechanically via combing. Chris

What are you usine to wash paint brushing
The trick is you can't let it dry and use water immediately after use. If it dries then you need to comb it with a blade or something. Alternative is to use toothpicks for application.
Seems like a lot of work, it's almost impossible to paint a perfect circle shape as the tires are , liquid mask , might give it a go! Good Video, Cheers!

A thin coat in room temperature 5-15 minutes, with hair dryer this can be reduced to 2-3 minutes. Chris
